Me too. BJS is a bully and it would be amusing seeing Canelo sadistically beat ten bells of shit out of him.

While Saunders has the style to give Canelo problems, the Mexican is bigger, stronger and with a real good engine. Furthermore he patiently stalks his prey, making them work overtime and intelligently cuts down the ring.

BJS may well box his way into a lead but he doesn't have a big engine and will be made to work every minute of every round. Therefore I can't see anything but Alverez getting to the Englishman in the second half of the fight.

I think Saunders has the natural style to give Canelo fits. I think the Saunders who fought Lemieux and Eubank remind my stylistically of Cotto when he fought Canelo and for me that was the blue print. He can be out boxed..

Huge gulf in levels between a past it Murray and Canelo.

What do people think of his power...Canelo....Kovalev aside nearly all of his world class wins have gone the distance

Saunders DOES NOT have the style to beat canelo, or even cause him problems tbh, he doesn’t poses anything of note or concern that Canelo has not faced or seen before or would be a concern, neither does Saunders IMO have the ability, engine, power, grit or toughness to prevent him not getting folded like a pretzel by canelo :OhYes: it will be great to see, if Saunders has the minerals to fight him (which I doubt) and doesn’t just talk it up and then price himself out has a get out clause and then go talking pure sh it about how canelo doesn’t want it and is avoiding him.

Tbh I honestly don’t see anyone between 154-175 beating canelo

Canelo hits pretty hard from what I've seen, but unlike most fighters who go for the KO when they hurt an opponent, he's patient enough to let them off the hook slightly because he's done his job for that round: to take more out of them than they've taken out of him. Takes a lot of self-confidence to do that.

Because if he spends 5% to take 10 out of you every round, you end up on fumes when he's still strong. So I think he's consciously — and very intelligently — a 12-round fighter; though he'll obviously bang you out if the opportunity's there. He probably could've stopped Smith late, but fought with a calmness that didn't necessitate it.

Most fighters are worried about coming a cropper for letting an opportunity slip away, and for trying to force it they waste enough energy to increase the likelihood of that happening! You need enough power to win his respect, but after that it's a great engine with the ability to outbox him. I felt Smith did okay the first couple of rounds, but for simply doing ‘okay’ I knew he'd already lost. He needed to be much busier and fiercer with his jab.

People are doing it again.

Lemuiex and Eubank J - It's laughable to suggest his performance against these two is a blueprint to beating Alvarez. The opposition isn't even comparable to Alvarez other than they all wear boxing gloves.

Saunders 'double world champ' and his best opponent was Lemuiex,Saunders will have less chance than Callum did as he's fighting outside of his natural weight division, doesn't have the fitness or punch power to have much success,if any and running all night won't do him any favours either

Whilst I agree with nearly everything you said , I think Junior is better than Lemuiex.

I am surprised to read couple on here suggesting Saunders has a chance to even compete with Canelo - he absolutely does not!

I`d expect Smith v Saunders to be 50/50 with the bookies if it were made .. I would lean towards Smith myself to win. And as we just seen; Smith didnt present much of a challenge to Canelo, who was at times doing stuff in there you`d expect to see in sparring ... those exaggerated feints, and basically telegraphing his next move to Smith.

Saunders would be on the back foot as soon as they touched gloves to begin ..

:TU:

one reason (actually maybe two) his lower-weight wins often went to points, in my opinion, is that firstly at the lower weights fighters had more mobility and stamina to run away from him whereas the likes of Kovalev and Smith he can just amble after them and still cut the ring off, and secondly that (2) as drained as he was at 154lbs, he didn't have the energy to push the fight to where his opponent was in the red zone.

There isn't a lot left is there ?

GGG first gotta be.
Then Plant, Saunders/BooBoo winner, Benavidez or Eubank would be a good watch.
He probably beats them all and then what ?

WHY is no one demanding the fight that would, figuratively speaking, make me self combust....Beterbiev v Alverez :box: :box: :box:

I cannot think of a better match in the world, including Spence v Crawford !

If Beterbiev v Canelo was announced I would instantly have to change my Grundies. When the reality sank in I would have to change them a second time

Aint gonna happen though

That could be a step too far for Canelo
I think Beterbiev would be too naturally strong for him. If he did beat Arthur then it’s his best win and puts him right up there.

Feels a bit like when Pacquiao was going up through the weights and we were always expecting the next opponent to be a step too far. Then, ironically, his devastating loss comes agains Marquez.

Saunders has had one 'impressive performance' in maybe the last 7 years against a fringe contender, the rest have been close or extremely boring. He has no chance of even being competetive with Canelo, doesn't have the strength, fitness or power to worry him for a minute. When has Canelo stunk the place out like Saunders did in the Paisley Leisure Centre ?
