Earnie Shavers vs George Chuvalo?
Earnie Shavers vs George Chuvalo?
Could Earnie knockout iron jawed George. Would Georges tenacity be too much for Earnie to handle?

Earnie is not doing anything to George. George would probably take Earnie's best leather, and come back for the ninth round stoppage.

Chuvalo TKO 8-10
Re: Earnie Shavers vs George Chuvalo?
Chuvalo was way better than Shavers in terms of boxing abilities and his granite chin would be able to take Shavers' punch well. Chuvalo would outbox Shavers confidently and would likely score a stoppage victory in the later rounds.
Chuvalo by TKO in 10 or so.

Re: Earnie Shavers vs George Chuvalo?
I admired Chuvalo in a high regard, but he never faced a harder puncher than George Foreman in Earnie Shavers. If Shavers boxed cautiously on the outside rather than slugging out early behind his jabs, then he land a big right hand and Shavers would be the only fighter who could knock Chuvalo down. Chuvalo would get up, but Shavers landed more heavy punches and stopped him on his feet like Frazier and Foreman did.

Put me down as another who sees Chuvalo taking Earnie's best shots. Wearing him out, and stopping him later on in the bout.

George Chuvalo. He would take Earnie Shavers' best shots and win by TKO in 10.
I also think that Chuvalo had more stamina, grit and determination. Shavers' stamina was not that good.

Yes, Chuvalo had a better chin than Shavers and durability, but he never felt his power in his career and in his book he stated that he admitted it that he was intimidated by Shavers' punching power according in his biography. Shavers on the other hand had poor chin, stamina and durability issue, but he manages to beat former ex-WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Vicente Rondon by decision, also he drew with Jimmy Young in their rematch, stopping Roy "Tiger" Williams in 10 rounds after Shavers nearly gassed out, going distance on the losing side of the decision with Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes and James "Quick" Tillis just to name a few and he survived a knockdown from Jeff Sims before coming back to knock him out on the undercard of "Drama in Bahamas" where Ali fought his last fight against Trevor Berbick.elmersalsa wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 13:27 George Chuvalo. It goes saying, don't underestimate any fighters on his weakness, including one of the dangerous all-time great punchers in Earnie Shavers. If Shavers caught Chuvalo's great iron chin with his overhand right, then he may broke his iron chin that Chuvalo never felt before and either Shavers nailed his great chin or body with more powerful punches that he would become the only fighter to knock Chuvalo to the canvas. If Shavers punched him hard on Chuvalo's body rather than his iron chin, then Chuvalo would probably go down wincing in pain that he either got counted out or Shavers stopped him on his feet. The best possible outcome for Shavers to beat Chuvalo was using his long reach with his powerful jabs and right hands to take a decision.

IMHO: Chuvalo may get stunned somewhere along the line, but he says erect. I'd take Chuvalo by late stoppage or decision.
