Canelo will be overwhelmed by the likes of Chisora or Kownacki, but he'll handle Charr, who has always been a never-was with surprisingly good promotion in relation to his level.

This is the fight I would like to see. Not because I think Briedis is a soft touch, on the contrary. It would be a great match. He's at least a couple of inches shorter than Smith and loves a war. What's not to like?

nah, briedis is just a blown up light heavy 🤣 whom did he beat? couldn't even handle featherfisted USYK😜

no way could briedis overcome the torturous pinpoint body punching by the magnificent wax face of modern boxing!🤪

briedis quits in 3, crying in shame from the pain to his brutalized midsection, his floating ribs smashed to bits by...

KING CANELO!!!!

Put your sarcasm to one side for a moment. Would you watch and enjoy the fight, whichever way it went? In my opinion it would be a far better match than Canelo v Smith, for example.

Canelo beats Dorticos who is too basic for him.

sarcasm to the side, i think there are weight classes for a reason. that fight would never be made, at what effin weight should that fight be held?

briedis weighed 215 when he fought charr which i guess he also fights at after rehydrating from making 200.

what is canelo's in ring weight?

canelo with his 180 in ring weight is already muscled up like a beefed up prizebulll!

should briedis slim down to whatever 'canelo fantasy catchweight'(180/190???)he never competed at, his body isn't accustomed to, to make his drained cruiserweight body fragile enough for canelo's supernatural body attacks?

???
so if he is generous and to fight for the belts they meet at the normal cruiserweight limit. so briedis fully hydrated at a bit under 220 and canelo doesn't have to make any weight for the first time in his career, even beefs up a bit more and comes in at 190.

so should canelo fight a fellow prime operator but at a 30 pound weight disadvantage?

i thought he's rather known for the opposite: taking on guys that have to overcome for whatever reason a heavier than themselves in ring canelo despite "officially" competing in the same weight class?

did canelo ever fight a guy heavier than him?

I guess, Canelo's biggest problem in potential CW matchups, except the lack of size, is the lack of agility. His movement is decent, but he is better on the forward course than on the back foot and he can't ride a bike like Usyk, for example. He was good on the back foot in the first GGG fight, but Golovkin was of his size.

Dorticos? Maybe, he's one-dimensional.

But what Canelo will do against Briedis, who moves well, can overpower opponents inside and hits hard?

He hasn't fought in 3 years and why would that particular fight buy Canelo any juice ?
Not against this type of thing but perhaps the bar needs to be raised a little higher.
Same reason Usyk fought Chazz Witherspoon. Before you throw yourself in the deep end it's as well to test whether you can swim where you can touch the bottom. If he were to defeat Charr then he could take a look at fighting a more capable heavyweight.

canelo picks his fights very carefully and rightfully so.

there is not a single reason to pick a technically excellent/fast on his feet/hard punching briedis 30 pounds heavier than himself.

why in hell would he?

canelo is smart.

don't think he fancies briedis or any full fledged/elite cruiser at all.

he is the top name at middle/supermiddle/light heavy.

that's his range.

plenty fights to pick from.

No doubt. He'll be past his prime, and ready to retire before he runs out of opponents in his own weight range.

Not really. People are proposing fights where they think he will be tested hard. Nothing wrong with that.

And it's hard to say what's more insane: to call Charr a champion or to say that boxing needs another division.

I think we need threads about Canelo’s chances against King Kong, Godzilla, the Cloverfield monster, Galactus and Ego the living planet!

He’d have to be the favourite against those guys, due to the biased judges scoring!

really? You don't think size matters in those matchups? :maybe:

it does, hence why canelo could very well be ktfo early, but if he can see out those first 4 rounds or so, the gas tanks on those giants are gonna come down hard

Would be interesting to see the difference in fight weights between Kong, Godzilla and Mechagodzilla from their recent matchups.
