I don’t need to do any homework, Dicky. I watched the full career, including the very early days live in Hull.... were you there? I’ve got a journeyman friend, best fighter ever with 40 odd aberrations... it’s shameful.Richard Fletcher wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 08:30 What on earth are you talking about, mickey 1975? Lewis is far and away the best British heavyweight of all time. He beat everyone he faced and the two defeats were aberrations. He won both Holyfield fights clearly and was widely recognised even in the US as the best heavyweight of his generation. Honestly, you really need to do your homework before posting stuff like this. Shameful.

Re: Lennox was overrated
Lennox isn't over rater, he's rated just fine. A dangerous Heavyweight who gives champs from any era a hard night.
Lost the two one punch blow outs, showed tough mental resilience in getting back in there with both and doing the business.
Apart from that he dealt with everyone put infront of him. Thought Vitali was gonna get the win as Lewis looked out of shape and disheveled, then threw those massive uppercuts that nearly decapitated him. That win obviously looked better and better the way Vitali's career went.
Some people say he was safety first and boring, but watch his early fights before manny, he was like a heavyweight Nigel Benn.

I‘m going to be pedantic here. I don’t not agree with a lot of this. However, the Vitali fight. I only remember one massive uppercut, anyway never mind that. Lewis did come on after a shaky start but the uppercut(s) didn’t shake Vitali. That’s what was surprising about it.rob h wrote: ↑24 Dec 2020, 04:40 Lennox isn't over rater, he's rated just fine. We all knew Lewis could dig but we found out more about Vitali that night. And it wasn’t the uppercuts that did for him, it was a cut eye. Now, in fairness to Lewis he did take a few flush off Vitali and he didn’t budge either.
Re: Lennox was overrated
Vitali rocked him a little on occasion, but he hung in there. Lennox landed a few big shots. Especially as the fight went on.Noxy wrote: ↑24 Dec 2020, 18:49I‘m going to be pedantic here. Re: Lennox was overrated
I think what made people really pay attention was the way Klitschko hurt Lewis in round 2 - he was definitely very wobbly although Klitschko couldn't finish it off. But as you say Lewis turned it around, and actually the shot that hurt Vitali most was a short right hook to the temple right at the end of round 6 - Klitschko had to cling on desperately while Lewis tried to prise him off, going halfway around the ring!Noxy wrote: ↑24 Dec 2020, 18:49I‘m going to be pedantic here. Re: Lennox was overrated
That means you just don't remember the fight. It could have easily gone 3-3. The official judges argued with the 3rd and the 5th rounds. It was an even fight. A lot of observers and spectators just paid too much attention to the fact of Klitschko being able to make it so competetive. Lewis won rounds 3, 5, 6.Noxy wrote: ↑24 Dec 2020, 18:49I‘m going to be pedantic here. I don’t not agree with a lot of this. However, the Vitali fight. Re: Lennox was overrated
Ok, but I didn’t actually say it wasn’t even. I said Lennox had a shaky start and then he got going. You seem to be saying the same thing (he won 5 and 6).
Anyway, I might watch it again today. It was a cracker.

Re: Lennox was overrated
lennox was come on strong and finding a home for his shots when the fight was stopped.
Re: Lennox was overrated
It was a great scrap. Len was so slow out of the traps, he was fortunate that Vitali was an arm-puncher rather than a banger.
