James Kirkland-The Nightmare Continues

Post by BroughtonRulesRefuge »

-James Kirkland was one of the first Corona Virus cancellations in March is closing out the year in Cali against a young, tallish Mexican KO slugger this Saturday.

Some may recall recall the young kid brutalizing the ranks that stirred up the forum, but he couldn't stay outta jail or with his trainer, HOFer Anne Wolfe.

Others may only remember the brief brutal Canelo shoot out. Everything about this fight if they pass Corona screening screams short but sweet.

Winner gets a title shot? Amazingly James has never fought for a world title.

- Good news abounds!

James @162 & Kid Montiel @161.4 & YOU on pace to double EnFrightenedOne 6.62 daily post rate as the dominate, most useless appendage on the forum.

Unless it falls off prematurely, so that's why you cross the swords! Go git'em Tiger :TU:

It's not that "amazing".

He wasn't particularly skilled, his resume is unimpressive and he was probably only ever a fringe top-ten contender at best.

I'll give you some context for comparison purposes, Dillian Whyte has never competed in a world title fight.

Now that's what I regard as truly amazing.

It was hard to watch.. hope that it all works out somehow for Kirkland. A couple bad decisions cost him a great career. It’s hard to believe he trained for this fight at all. Looked almost motionless in there and couldn’t take a punch at all.

What an awful performance from Kirkland, an exact rerun of the Ishida fight. Needs to retire.

Wouldn't say that. He did beat a fresher Alfredo in a more impressive fashion than Lara did.

- Eh, eh, one of Ring's best comedy moments when the little clown that still works there gushed all over his bib blithering "It was like watching Hagler vs Hearns on Steroids!" for contextual magnificence of great fights.

And what's a fight of less than 2 min mostly spent in ref interdiction of counting and evaluation mean to boxrec rankings?

Prefight James around the 94th ranking and Montiel around 126th, a fair fight for matchmaking purposes, and Holy Rube Goldberg, now Montiel is 16th and James 58th after our "Hal" algorithm chewed 'em up & spit 'em out...Sorted!

For the record the 1st round of Kirkland vs Angulo is absolutely better than the 1st round of Hagler vs Hearns. Just because it doesn't get the same reverence because the fighters aren't as legendary doesn't make it more action packed.

I'd say Kirkland probably needs to pack it in. He was shook by almost every solid shot he took in this fight. Then again the guy does have big power according to his record, but he also looked REALLY sloppy when he attacked too (Kirkland that is)
