Who will be the next undisputed champion ?
Who will be the next undisputed champion ?
WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO - the primary belts only.
We still don't know about the next step of WBO at HW (Usyk) - just to remind you........

I think so, they're both a choice.

Yeh. Closest fight being made.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 14:25I think so, they're both a choice.
Fury-Joshua have the WBO to deal with.
Teo has already said he doesn’t see himself fighting Haney anytime soon.

I hope Teo will change his opinion.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 14:27Yeh. Closest fight being made.

Taylor-Ramirez is the easiest fight for all 4 to be made. So, I picked Taylor.
Btw, Lopez gotta be already undisputed, f*ck the WBC and their franchise sh!t.

lopez arguably counts already....it's a weird situation. is he franchise champ now? loma was wbc champ, then gets upgraded, then teo beats him....so teo beat the highest guy in the wbc and has all the other belts
jermell charlo----i think castano beats texiera for the wbo. then pbc bois mell and castano can fight for undisputed

Yeah, the belt situation was already quite confusing, the WBC have made it worse with their franchise nonsense.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 15:21 lopez arguably counts already....it's a weird situation. is he franchise champ now? loma was wbc champ, then gets upgraded, then teo beats him....so teo beat the highest guy in the wbc and has all the other belts

I think Suli once said that a fighter cannot lose a franchise belt, so Lopez will have to beat Haney to prove he is the man, despite already beating Loma.
The mind boggles....
Re: Who will be the next undisputed champion ?
Teo is already the Undisputed Lightweight Champion. I don't know what belt Haney has, but it's secondary.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 14:27Yeh. Closest fight being made.

Re: Who will be the next undisputed champion ?
WBC doesn't admit Teo as their LW champion. Sad, but true. Unfortunately.

Everybody in boxing from the fighters to the fans should ignore the governing bodies and their power would decline along with their revenue stream, and they would pretty soon cease to exist.
This is never going to happen because the fighters, promoters and the networks, love shiny belts to validate their achievements and to add lustre to their shows. Titles, belts yay, and the more the merrier.
The WBC aren't even the worst of them - how depressing is that?
On a brighter note, if you look back through the record books back to when the average sports fan could name the weight classes and probably most of the current champions, it wasn't unusual to see a title uncontested for a couple of years. Reducing the number of titles and title-fights might encourage top fighters to face each other regularly like they used to, there again it may not.
Maybe we are better off as it stands

Forget it. Those days are over.
