In a Boxing match? Yes

In a Kickboxing match? Hell no

In an MMA match? Once again. No

Still would have to go with Buakaw, even with Floyd being a far superior boxer I'd think Buakaw could get into a clinch and then blast him with elbows, which can cut you up pretty fast

Hell most standard Kickboxing doesn't allow elbows anymore. That's primarily some Muay Thai sh*t, and yes I'd have to favor the Muay Thai guy under those rules. He'd be looking to get into a clinch, and elbow almost immediately, and Floyd wouldn't be able to stop it.

It should be noted though that under no circumstances would Floyd take place in a Muay Thai bout. Even against a guy he outweighed by 45 pounds

Floyd had some pretty quality elbows in his day, but I’m not sure he’d land them with the same thud if they suddenly became legal shots lol

I never saw him throw an elbow with force. I saw him push off with his elbows plenty of times.

A push off here and there.

Some guys have styles where they're clearly trying to connect with an elbow should the punch miss. Floyd never did that. He just pushed off in the clinch with his elbow. Which is still supposed to be against the rules, but is a minor infraction in comparison to elbowing somebody with force.

Years ago Nat Fleischer went to Thailand to judge a boxing match and, while there, he watched some muay Thai bouts. He wrote that muay thai fighters would beat western boxers . I have to agree with him and with you guys. No chance for Floyd against this guy-unless it is under boxing rules.

No doubt about it.

Just like a Baseball Player wouldn't do jack sh*t in the NBA.

I don’t disagree. Nothing terribly flagrant.

I spent some time in Thailand and went to see a few Muay Thai events in Bangkok, and really wasn’t impressed by the quality tbh. Maybe I just got unlucky with the guys I saw tho.

it's like boxing, there is a wide range of quality, but the best guys are beasts and overall muay thai fighters have a lot more tools at their disposal than boxers and for the most part would kick/elbow/knee them silly

I lived in Thailand for nearly a decade, and first time i saw fight in tourist district, they were hitting so hard that i thought it was a real fight, i can tell you they can take hell of punishments to the body and they take kicks to the face many sometimes.

I'm sure really Elite Boxers with street fighting backgrounds could beat SOME Muay Thai guys. They couldn't beat the best ones.
