Nice win, Garcia's good for sure.
Tank ktfo him hard though, Ryan leaves his chin out there way too much

Agreed, Campbell was blocking and defending well. I think that’s part of the reason why he overly covered up his head before the KO. He’d been shutting down the lead right all night that way, and Garcia was getting the left to the body in but not that flush and not while Campbell was moving. Great punch by Garcia. Testament to his hand speed.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 20:23A lot of glove shots.
Though that Garcia’s footwork did not look great against the Olympic caliber of Campbell. He was giving the young guy fights with angles. Garcia caught up eventually and put him away.

Great comeback from the knockdown and an awesome bodyshot to finish it. You just don't get up from those.
Garcia has power and his combos are thrown with venom. However, Campbell isn't really known for his power and, as well as the KD, he also managed to rock him with a really short check counter. Garcia's chin is a bit out there when he's throwing those combos so it would be a different result if someone with Tank's power was testing it. He has balls and self confidence in abundance, but still needs to work on defence and be careful what he wishes for.

Yet another excellent show on DAZN.
Good fights on the undercard and the main event.
Reynoso has a lot of work to do with Ryan's brother.
Ryan keeps getting better with Reynoso but I doubt Sean will get to Ryan's level.
KingRy squashed a lot of critics tonight.
He's not just a pretty boy, social media star.
The kid is a real fighter and can live with some adversity.
Passed a big test from a world class boxer.
The social media hype train will keep rolling...

- Pregnant Tank?
Same guy tattoed by One legged Gamboa?
Different promoters. Kingry KOs no white boy Haney next and then fights for Teo's discarded belts as he moves to 140.
Congrats to the Alvarado twins and their opponents for an Epic night in boxing. 2021 opens with a bang in front of 6000 Texans

OK, someone with pregnant Tank's power ie not specifically pregnant Tank. A harder puncher than the more stylistic Campbell.BroughtonRulesRefuge wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 21:18The Gratest wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 20:42 Great comeback from the knockdown and an awesome bodyshot to finish it. Garcia will probably pick up a legit World title, he's passed the test at the level below, but, he seems a bit vulnerable and open.

Props to DAZN for already posting highlights of the fight on YouTube!! Based on this outing I see Garcia being a clear winner over Devin Haney but Ryan is probably not ready for the likes of Lopez or Davis yet.

The kid’s got the guts. If he takes a loss to Teo at this point what does it do to him?Best Coast wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 22:25 Props to DAZN for already posting highlights of the fight on YouTube!! Bigger problem is getting Oscar and TR to work that one out which they won’t.
It’ll be King Ry vs Haney.

Garcia looks for the big punch doesn't he.
His boxing ability...
For his age it's above par.
He learned a lesson especially after he got clipped with the knockdown.
He came up short with some of his shots and Campbell did an ok job of blocking other incoming blows.
Clearly they're grooming him as a potential hispanic american young good looking hotshot type of fighter.
This gives him some credibility, same time they'll guard and guide him to his potential.
This was a test he passed.

Just for arguments sake ...
Was that body shot good enough to end the fight ?
Did you think Campbell would get up ?

Re: Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell - January 2, 2021
That was a legit fight ender for me. I dont think anyone doubts the power of Garcias left hook at 135, its true world class. he had gone head so man times with it that once he brang his left arm out, Campbell put his right arm all the way up to protect the head, resulting in a perfectly placed, powerfull, unprotected, repetitively unexpected, liver shot.
Sure he managed to stand up, but he was still bent over struggling 20 seconds after he got up, so even if he got up a second earlier it was getting waved anyway, and if it somehow didnt, no way he could protect himself.

At this point Ryan Garcia isn't what I would call near an A list.

I ordered that PPV and while I don't think it was fixed or anything like that, that's one of the lamest KO finishes to a major fight I've ever seen.

We saw it in slow mo, from a perfect angle. It looked like it fkn hurt. The punch rippled all the way through the liver. You need your liver to...live.

Is Garcia the USA Khan?
I think so; the writings very much on the wall.

That's the fight Garcia should have had long time ago instead of knocking tomato cans out. A good learning experience for Garcia. This fight should have taught him, that's the handspeed and power isn't everything. He needs to improve his head-movement and footwork. He literally overwhelmed a smaller guy, who was programmed to take shots and rely on counters since the start.
P.S. The dazn commentators are biased garbage.

Re: Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell - January 2, 2021
Too much credit was given to Campbell based on his losses in title fights. Whilst worse boxers have become world title holders, and he could pick up a world title yet, but Campbell is merely a 'difficult opponent'.

Re: Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell - January 2, 2021
Luke Campbell is technically a good fighter, almost textbook. A very difficult defensive opponent, with a good guard and almost impossible to stop with a head shot.
Garcia's excellent recovery was nothing at all like Amir Khan - more like Ali's against Cooper. If he's never been down before as he claimed, it was a great performance to resume the attack and pull out a stoppage like that, one that others will have taken note of.
For sure there's room for performance, at his age there almost always is, but no one has done that to the solid Luke Campbell before.
There was a real buzz and atmosphere there despite the reduced attendance.
What a great start to the boxing year!

I agree with the Yellow scorecard. Campbell won at least 2 rounds, however, you HAVE to score the KD round 10-8.. I know Garcia finished the round well, but that was a heavy KD.

that type of round pretty much will always get 10-8, it was a hard kd and not like garcia batterd him the rest of the round

Don’t know what this judge was thinking. I mean he still have more Campbell rounds than the other 2 judges.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 09:30 that type of round pretty much will always get 10-8, it was a hard kd and not like garcia batterd him the rest of the round

Compubox Punch Stats
A great victory for Ryan Garcia as he came off the canvas to outland Luke Campbell 77-51 in power shots, landing 43.8% of them. 32 of Garcia's 94 landed power shots were to the body including the one that stopped the fight.
