Re: Haney vs Garcia
Why? Was that another wbc belt they fought for? What does Lopez have? Don't get me wrong, great fight, just wow.
Re: Haney vs Garcia
The franchise situation has made a bit of a mess.
The WBC title that Haney holds about as legit as a WBA interim.
However, I like forget about that and just say that in a perfect world Tank vs Lopez will fight for the top spot and Garcia and Haney will fight to determine the number one contender.
A few ABC titles will get passed around in the meantime, but don't let that put you off what should be good fights, in what is becoming an excellent division.

Whatever belt they fight for, WBC, franchise WBC, silver WBC, pink or brown, it doesn't really matter, it's just a great matchup.
Right now I'd pick Haney. He seems to be smarter, more fluid and composed.

Re: Haney vs Garcia
This is a tough fight to predict the outcome of.
Ryan Garcia is a quick starter, fundamentally sound and very athletic. However, he can be hurt, and the quality of his work is known to diminish during the later rounds of fights.
In contrast, Devin Haney is versatile, disciplined, has an excellent engine and is mentally tough. He might have a less impressive style.
I recently thought that Garcia would have to stop Haney early in order to win this fight.
However, the questionable 10-9 scorecard Ryan benefited from after he was decked by Luke Campbell, was incredibly dubious.
Garcia could unfortunately be one of those “hometown” type fighters. He generates a lot of money, which may result in him being given the benefit of the doubt on the scorecards during incredibly competitive rounds. I really do hope I'm wrong about this.
Regardless, Ryan seems vulnerable to the body, which means that Devin may try to work on the inside, swinging the axe to the trunk to chop down the tree.
Ultimately though, I have to favour Haney to overcome a relatively significant early deficit on the judges' scorecards to beat-up a fatigued Garcia during the final few rounds to either score a late stoppage or earn a close decision victory.

Re: Haney vs Garcia
Picking Garcia all the way. Haney lacks the power to hurt him. Garcia will come forward all night and win a decision on his aggression and solid offense.
Haney’s style could make this a really awkward and disappointing fight, but I think Garcia will pressure him and win.

Re: Haney vs Garcia
Ryan Garcia uses the "straight" arm outstretched to keep the opponents at bay and to set up a punch...He didn't do that with Campbell. Campbell's waving arm in the air reminded me of Loma's style and I think that threw Ryan off a bit. I'd pick Ryan over Haney. Ryan's punches are fast and a lot of power behind them. Haney fights low and pops up a bit...he'd get cracked by a Garcia left hook.
Haney didn't do much damage to Gamboa and he's got no style. quite boring to be honest.

he boys,
really? haney vs garcia!? if it happens it's gonna be elimination for possible fight vs lopez. lopez needs all belts to go to next weight he is too big for lightweight. so, my thoughts, doesnt matter who wins it is just a new body for Lopez. lopez is not going to fight Gervota, Loma2, Mikey, is't?

Re: Haney vs Garcia
garcia's showing vs campbell wasnt really one that had me thinking, ah, okay, he's clearly much better than haney. sure, i have no doubt he's offensively an impressive fighter, and these types usually flatter vs overmatched opposition, though not sure he actually did that vs campbell
haney would beat campbell clearly too, without getting dropped hard on his ass. haney can be boring and is a totally different style than garcia but he's effective. garcias had tougher times with the likes of carlos morales than haney's ever had. haney won thier last 3 head to heads in the ams too fwiw so he gotta have some confidence vs garcia too

Garcia by close decision at this point in their careers. Given their youth this could be a rivalry that goes several years at several different weights.
Re: Haney vs Garcia
I genuinely haven't a clue, you can make a case for either. The only thing I can be certain of ... I want to see it. Bring it on.

Re: Haney vs Garcia
Haney has power but he doesn't follow thru with combinations and ANY fighter is vulnerable to the left hook to get "dropped hard on his ass" as you put it. I agree with the Carlos Morales fight...Ryan was looking up at clock a few times and he was taking a few good shots. His training with Reynoso is the reason we're seeing a better, more patient, more skilled Ryan Garcia now.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 02:24 garcia's showing vs campbell wasnt really one that had me thinking, ah, okay, he's clearly much better than haney. sure, i have no doubt he's offensively an impressive fighter, and these types usually flatter vs overmatched opposition, though not sure he actually did that vs campbell

i wouldnt take that fight yet if i was garcia , give it 2 years say 5 real good fights he will be cleaning up the divisions i think a 3 weight world champ in the making
Re: Haney vs Garcia
Garcia would not win this alone with flashiness. Haney adapts well and counters swiftly like a young Judahweather.

Re: Haney vs Garcia
Great observation. Garcia has made big strides in his overall game since teaming up with Reynoso. Like Canelo, I expect Ryan's defense to improve too, the longer he stays with Eddy.THESURESHOT wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 14:19Haney has power but he doesn't follow thru with combinations and ANY fighter is vulnerable to the left hook to get "dropped hard on his ass" as you put it.
