Jimmy Brown 1970’s middleweight

Post by raydoug »

Jimmy Brown was the top middleweight to champion Tony Mundine in 1970. He was unbeaten and had wins over Dick Blair, Errol McIvor and Steve Vik. How good was Jimmy. Could have given Tony a
competitive fight?

Can't remember a middleweight by that name, But maybe feather to lightweight named Jimmy Brown? As a matter of fact Jimmy Brown made me look stupid in my first amateur fight that's why I remember. My trainers Harry Martin and Norm Taylor told me in the break for the first round that he was a southpaw. Didn't help me though. My one claim to fame

Middleweight Jimmy Brown had beaten the top contenders in the 1970’s but Tony Mundine was the champ and Brown realised Mundine was world class. Brown also knew it would be not smart to box as a light middleweight as Charkey Ramon held the Aussie crown and was also world class. Brown worked as a bouncer in pubs and also a Garbo

It took until the after the first round of your boxing career to realise what a southpaw was? And you had to be told you were currently fighting one? :o :o :o
