The fantasy fight - current Canelo vs, RJJ (1995) ?
Re: The fantasy fight - current Canelo vs, RJJ (1995) ?
Canelo was juiced to the gills when he struggled with old GGG and lost 4 rounds to Danny Jacobs. Roy was levels above Canelo.

According to the current threshold rules surrounding clenbuterol, Canelo would not have been deemed guilty of consuming a banned substance. He was ultimately cleared of committing any wrongdoing by WADA, the WBC and also the NSAC.
And let’s be perfectly honest, if Canelo really wanted to cheat, he wouldn’t have taken some cheap ḁṡṡ ṡhḯt like clenbuterol, which is the same over-the-counter diet pills that housewives, struggling actors and amateur bodybuilders are able to take (without a prescription in Mexico) to burn fat.
So if we evaluate Canelo according today's PED protocols, he shouldn't be considered as being a drug cheat.

You make the assumption that Roy was on drugs his entire prime career. So I am going to assume that Canelo is on much more than clenbuterol.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 13:03According to the current threshold rules surrounding clenbuterol, Canelo would not have been deemed guilty of consuming a banned substance. Roid tested positive for steroids. And was rarely tested at all during his heyday.emallini wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 13:05You make the assumption that Roy was on drugs his entire prime career. Canelo has had to undergo drug testing for the vast majority of his career. And he was subsequently deemed innocent of committing any wrongdoing by the WBC, WADA and also the NSAC.
These aren't assumptions, they're facts.
You don't have any solid grounds to assume Canelo is juicing up on powerful PED's.

Re: The fantasy fight - current Canelo vs, RJJ (1995) ?
One simple question, would the steroid using Roid Jones Jr. be as effective and athletic today if he had to undergo testing throughout the entirety of his entire career, like today's top-tier world-rated fighters have to?
Did anybody see Roid's performances against Eric Harding & Derrick Harmon, which he had to undergo drug testing (according to standards that were nowhere near as strict as today's)?

I've already answered this question in the thread. He was tested against Eric Harding & Derrick Harmon also, due to his failure for the Hall bout. His performances noticeably dipped in those fights.emallini wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 13:17So Roy was only tested for the Richard Hall fight? The sports' governing bodies only started drug testing in boxing during the late nineties. WADA was founded in 1999. USADA was established during 2000. And VADA started in 2011.
So Roid hadn't been tested for most of his career and wrongly assumed he'd test clean for the Richard Hall fight. It might have been the first (or one of the first) times he was ever really tested.

i think roid beats clenelo
Re: The fantasy fight - current Canelo vs, RJJ (1995) ?
Wait, so you think he was on roids in the Olympics also? Which he dominated with his incredible reflexes and speed. The footage on YouTube of him boxing as a kid looking ridiculously fast with amazing hand eye coordination, this is all through roids? Absolute nonsense. Roy was one of the hardest trainers around and was treated with a strict military type regime by his dad.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 13:25I've already answered this question in the thread. You have no idea how many tests he passed, just making assumptions. Roy had phenomenal ring IQ and was a student of the game. People like you who have never boxed just can not see it, but people like me who grew up in the gym, we were in awe of the creative feints and his control of the space. To say his entire career was based on steroids is nonsense but not surprising to hear based on the lack of knowledge on these forums.

Why don’t you Google the drug testing failures, the cover-up’s and also the admissions from various competitors that competed in the 1988 Olympics?emallini wrote: ↑08 Jan 2021, 13:40Wait, so you think he was on roids in the Olympics also? Drug testing was so bad at the Olympics and other events that the IAAF were trying to eliminate all world records prior to 2005.

Is EO became gingerboy's advocate just to have an online argue with GGG's fans? From Charlo and Andrade to gingerboy ? Or he loves all? lol

Ack. Roy would toy with the boy.
Even a fully PED'd up Canelo would get splattered with ease.

"Clenbuterol stimulates both the heart and central nervous system. It has a similar effect on the body as epinephrine and amphetamines. It is also a beta-2-agonist, which is the opposite of a beta-blocker. While a beta-blocker will reduce the production of epinephrine and noradrenaline, clenbuterol increases i"
"Clenbuterol is a sympathomimetic amine used by sufferers of breathing disorders as a decongestant and bronchodilator. People with chronic breathing disorders such as asthma use this as a bronchodilator to make breathing easier. It is most commonly available as the hydrochloride salt, clenbuterol hydrochloride"
Clen effects :
rapid fat burning
excitability
nervousness
increased energy
greater determination
Yeah, yeah it's just only for burning fat and cattles. lol

Canelo is stronger, has a better chin.
RJJ was faster, more versatile and creative.
Who is better counter-puncher ? I am not sure.

Canelo is also more fundamentally sound in his boxing technique.
Jones Jr’s remarkable athleticism allowed him to get away with things all boxers are taught not to do.
However, when Roy lost his speed advantage, he didn’t have the fundamentals to adapt to his ageing body, hence the reason for his shockingly sudden decline.
That, and also the fact he started getting tested and had to stop taking the roids.

It would be like Roy vs Vinny Paz...Roy, if he decided to use his jab, snapping back Canelo's head and then bamboozling him with fast flurries. If he wanted go close the one-sided massacre with a sweeping left hook then he'd do so....pop!

Its fairly safe to assume every fighter was on something until recent years
Re: The fantasy fight - current Canelo vs, RJJ (1995) ?
EO basically picks a favorite fighter, and just ignores every fault he has, and points out the others that the other guy has.
Both guys have tested positive for PED's.
Roy was a better fighter in his prime, and put on more dazzling performances.
I didn't read the last book he wrote when quoting me because I could see with "Roid Jones Jr." that he was basically just using it as a childish insulting of the guy who he wishes wasn't the better fighter.
Canelo has probably made more money with his in ring career than Roy did so you can take solace in that EO.
He'd lose every round if both were in their prime.
