Mark Dickinson Signs With MTK Global
Press Release
MTK Global has announced the signing of former Team GB amateur sensation Mark Dickinson ahead of his plans to turn professional.
The 21-year-old had a standout career in the unpaid ranks, with some of his numerous accolades including eight national titles, plus gold medals at the Youth Commonwealth Games and the European Youth Championships.
The North East star also represented Team GB on a number of occasions, and is relishing the chance to now enter the professional ranks alongside MTK Global.
Dickinson said: “I am very excited about joining MTK Global and I can’t wait to start my career as a professional. They have plenty of world champions and seeing how well they have done means there is no reason I can’t as well.
“I’m an eight-time National Champion in the amateurs including a Senior ABA title. I won a gold medal in the Youth Commonwealth Games in the Bahamas, and won gold in the European Youth Championships in Turkey.
“I got onto Team GB the start of 2018 and won gold medals at the Memorial V. Liventsev tournament out in Belarus, and the GeeBee tournament in Finland, along with representing them in the 2019 European Games and the 2019 World Championships.
“I feel like my style is more suited to the pros so it should work in my favour. I take everything one step at a time and just can’t wait to make my debut and get the show on road.”
MTK Global Vice-President Jamie Conlan added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Mark to the team. We believe he can be one of the stand out prospects in 2021.
“We’re looking forward to seeing his development thoughtout this year. His all action style will make sure the North East have another fighter to get behind in years to come.”
News on when Dickinson will make his much-awaited professional debut will be announced in due course.

Yeah - the same guy who answers, "No actually - this camp hasn't been ideal. I'm not quite as sharp and strong as usual."margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Jan 2021, 17:42 is there every a dood who turns pro who doesnt say he thinks his style is more suited for the pros lol
Re: Mark Dickinson Signs With MTK Global
Yep, I’ve gone up in weight which makes it easier on the scales but my punch power has definitely decreased and the opposition is bigger, so things looking quite bleak actually.skanksta wrote: ↑15 Jan 2021, 09:04Yeah - the same guy who answers, "No actually - this camp hasn't been ideal. Re: Mark Dickinson Signs With MTK Global
cant find anything on them being related
btw just to nit pick, this dood is listed as 6'2 but is shorter than 6'0 pat mccormack when standing side by side
from the worlds.....a quick handed/footed slappy mover. vs a slower but more accurate armenian guy
looks talented but defo fighting very much in the 'amateur' style here , despite his pro style claims. let's see how he adjusts

Generally struggle with the step up to pro though. When you think john lewis and travis were the areas flag bearers, now its joe laws and josh kelly ffs!
Something in the water up here which stops the lads from fulfilling there potential. Should be a boxing hotbed.

Both McCormack’s and Callum French are the cream of Birtley. I’d hazard a guess and say laws was far from a standout in that gym. That’s no slur on Laws just that the competition in that gym was very highBigdogsnose wrote: ↑18 Jan 2021, 09:34Generally struggle with the step up to pro though. No idea mate, have no inside knowledge of the gym or its fighters, just in general the north east and in particular Birtley have a great heritage in the AMs, but rarely do we get a really good stand out pro to follow.smiling assassin wrote: ↑18 Jan 2021, 10:51Both McCormack’s and Callum French are the cream of Birtley. You could even say we'd been spoilt with the dickinsons, ritson, ward and a couple others recently but still punch well below our weight compared to other regions.

McCormack boys are exceptional. One of my old gyms fighters stopped Laws, in Sunderland, so he’s always been slightly vulnerable. The twins are miles better than anyone up there. It’s a very good gym.
Re: Mark Dickinson Signs With MTK Global
Pat Mccormack, Luke Mccormack, Callum French, Cyrus Pattinson will all be turning pro after the Olympics at the same time with their trainer Graham Everett .who could be the best trainer in the country judging by his amateur success and the way people praise him. He said hes going into the pros with them. I think this will be the turning point for north east boys in the pros. I really can't imagine Pat Mccormack in particular being a failure, he's a elite talent and lives the life.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑18 Jan 2021, 11:15No idea mate, have no inside knowledge of the gym or its fighters, just in general the north east and in particular Birtley have a great heritage in the AMs, but rarely do we get a really good stand out pro to follow.smiling assassin wrote: ↑18 Jan 2021, 10:51Both McCormack’s and Callum French are the cream of Birtley. Think Travis might be residing at HM's pleasure. Gone off the rails since he retired.
