Whilst I’m not going to criticise the IBF for following their own rules they seem to have hard-ons for certain fighters whereby the get several mandatory slots.

Kid hasn’t beaten one world class fighter yet he’s been mandatory twice. He loses to Warrington, wins one fight against a guy who’d lost 2 of his last 4 fights and he’s mandatory again.

It was similar with Clinton Woods back in the day but at least his world title fights were entertaining.

Eddie will bid for it. As will MTK I think if Jazza is mandated to fight Kid as the next highest rated contender.

Neither will get a better chance to win a world title and it will be a cheap world title fight in today’s marketplace. I’d expect it to be a Saturday night fight night headliner but give me one Kelly vs Avanesyan over 5 Galahad vs Dickens fights.

The judging was very debatable. Barry won another final eliminator. Warrington hand-picked Takoucht and has not defended for over 15 months. Now he's hand-picked another opponent instead of his mandatory. Barry has waited nearly a year for a shot and deserves it much more than Takoucht or Lara.

Disappointing , frustrating but ultimately not a good look for Warrington to vacate especially as it’s only two fights back he dealt with the very same challenge ( kid offered very little to take the title that night )

Hearn speaks with forked tongue and once he resigned Josh he subsequently inherited the very problem he created for another promoter! It was impossible to keep both happy.

The global pandemic has no doubt thrown an added spanner in the works cancelling the big outdoor event planned at Headingley and explains the inactivity but having no world title will surely add to the problem finding suitable opponents.

Hopefully Hearn can repay Josh by delivering more career defining big fights / nights he craves to add to his impressive cv . Lara is most certainly not that type of fight but nor is Galahad .

It was a little cringe when Eddie was labelling Josh on his return as a P4P star in the making when only a few months previously he was saying Kid was the best Feather in the world and was robbed against him. I believe on IFL kid even asked Eddie - so who is the best Featherweight? Can't remember what Eddie said exactly but he was squirming a bit.

However, in a few months time perhaps both will be happy Josh will go for another sanctioning body's title and Kid can fight and win the IBF and the neither have to worry about having another snooze fest. If Josh loses his world title challenge, they can always blame the weight and he can move up.

On their first fight itself - I was ultimately disappointed in Kid's display - he should have put it out of sight really..... he looked the much classier operator and Josh looked terribly off form and looked average.... but his negativity down the stretch was an awful spectacle and although I didn't do a round by round (but I thought Kid was comfortably in the lead going into the last 4 rounds) I thought it would have been horrible for Kid to win a world title with that end of fight display. Galahad might have won the fight actually, but he did not fight like a champion.
