One of the reasons I stopped going to pro shows. I'm not exposing my children to that. We stick to the amateur shows now.

true not saying its nice to be around it ,if you aint on the same leavel, but honestly, if iam not drinking i find it very hard to be around drunk people my fight or flight goes and i end up getting in a lot of rows cause of that, growing up with big drinkers , but if i know there on the toot i perfer it,i bet you 9/10 if you dont make a big deal of the drug taking they will be buying you drinks

Doesn’t bother me. More the older crowd get put off being around it.

There’s nothing worse than being really drunk people when sober.
very true iam not talking up coke even though it sounds like it, i seen drugs eat people up but truth is the drink problay would of done it too, just i think films make people act out , because they think thats what you should do, just like puff, i was a puff head for years since a young teen i had loads of fights on it made me a parra loon , and that was addictive as .... took 2 years to kick that

How’s he getting on? I saw him fight a couple of times.
He’s from a very rough family. His brother was very good as well. Truscott was brilliantly schooled but couldn’t punch. I’m sure Adam Smith went into growling mode when talking about South Bank, but dumped Truscott for Gary Sykes and Dewsbury Moore stories....
Never says “the absolute shitholes of Manchester or London “, though, does he?
Funnily enough ‘well schooled’ was exactly the phrase that came to mind when I first saw him. Tiny kid even for a featherweight, it looked to me.

To be honest haven't seen him since , a good mate of mine trained / managed him for most of his career , think his license was pulled due to a medical issue and he had no chance of boxing again , not sure how he's doing now.

watched some of that boyle stuff, seems a bit weird the amount of attention he gives to these fools. always liked the sykes documentary as he was such a misguided character. imagine having all those attributes and being so dim that you end up dying as a tramp.

its just not sustainable, making a life out of trying to 'be hard'. some may be able to do it for a bit, but then the next lot comes up and you're history. surely you'd look back - if you ever made it to old age - and think it was all a complete waste of time?

I don't blame him, he kept calling him an ape and a gorilla in the first few pages of his book about him.

It’s really not heresay. He was a brutal, perverted bully. Even his wife was at school. No idea why Boyle loves him. I only came across him when he was finished.

I take no pleasure in saying this, mate, but the prison rape stuff happened. I have it on very good authority. I knew about all that well before Sykes became (in)famous. It was common knowledge what Sykes was.
I have no doubt it did to be honest but i dont think anyone has ever come out and said it happened to them personally, I maybe wrong.

I not denying Sykes was a wrong un, he paid the price for it and suffered later in life for his acts. I think if i had known him late rin life I would have spoken to him.
