Eddie's UK World Champions (who box 3 minute rounds)

Post by BigDoofus »

Just AJ and BJS (who will be underdogs in their next proposed fights).
Is Lawrence Okolie going to be the new flag-bearer for Eddie?

He won’t be the new flag bearer but he may we’ll be a world champion. Okolie’s had some really poor performances but he looks like he’s improved since training with Shane and he’s done well to win all he has in so few fights.

Eddie’s got several fighters who are probably 12 months from world title fights and I’d much rather watch a Kelly vs Avanesyan fight over a poor world title fight.

The title of the thread is U.K. world champions.

BigDoofus is seemingly very anti Eddie so rather than talking about the fact that he’s putting on more shows than anyone at the moment in more places (5 U.K., the Canelo show, the Estrada/Gonzalez show and shows in Thailand and New Zealand) or the fact that some of the British fighters should be applauded for taking tough fights (like Callum Smith or Luke Campbell) he likes to focus on the negatives.

Since Hearn joined DAZN the UK shows have been garbage. It's fair to make that point on a boxing forum. Despite a huge budget, the quality of fights on Sky has been poor.

That’s not the point you were making though. You were insinuating that the lack of British world champs is down to Hearn which it isn’t.

I wouldn’t say they’ve been garbage. Bar the the Dubois vs Joyce fight they’ve usually been a lot better than the BT shows.

He’s announced 5 U.K. shows with the bulk of the undercard fights over the next couple of months and they are, on the whole, pretty good.

BT on the other hand have announced one fight for this year so far.

Ok ‘Eddie’s UK World champions who box 3 minute rounds.’ That will do.

Actually should I go further and have it ‘Eddie’s World champions who box 3 minute rounds who are called Ron.’ Yeah. Hehe. None of those. Get out of that one f uckers.

That's the point. For all Eddie's bragging on his mate's youtube channel, his UK stable is looking a bit threadbare

Pretty good? PPV for 41 year old Povetkin??
FW has been in hospital but I think his one fight is the best so far and it's not PPV.
I keep hearing about Benn- Vargas. Vargas has won 2 out of his last 6 fights and WTF is that Warrington fight?

It’s not there are loads of other British world champs out there that he’s missing out on. Frank has got Tyson and Bob has Josh Taylor.

Are there many top U.K. fighters that Eddie hasn’t got a world title fight for that he potentially should have done?

He’s got several fighters that have potential to be fighting for world titles in the next 12 months (Buatsi, Cordina at Super Feather, Josh Kelly if he wins well against Avanesyan, Okolie is clearly fighting for a title in his next fight, Martin J Ward) and others that may get back into the world title fight mix (Kal Yafai, Callum Smith and now Josh Warrington).

Looking at his and Warren’s fighters he still seemingly has the deepest promotional stable in the country. Do you think differently?

The Povetkin fight was always going to be PPV given that it reportedly sold well and given the finish and the undercard looks good so far although needs a quality co-main.

You’ve picked out some of the fights that you don’t like. I agree the Warrington main event is crap but the undercard for it is good. I don’t particularly mind the Benn fight.

What about the other shows that you didn’t mention?

His style is atrocious to watch and has been h8s whole career so far.

He might be the face for limpets or other such things that long to other things but he definitely won’t be the face of a boxing promotional company.

If AJ-Fury goes ahead Eddie's going to have to get tricky with his WBA trinkets

How has it? Kelly was stopped but he at least rolled the dice. As I said, if he’d won well then he could have been looking to fight for a title in 12 months.

You seem to really focus on negatives. You come back to this thread and make a short comment on Okolie and then you’re back on the negative re: Eddie and his fighters.

Billy Joe is getting the biggest fight he could get in a 3 belt unification against the biggest star in the sport.

And then it’s likely AJ/Fury in the biggest heavyweight fight in ages.

Surely you should be happy with that? Or would you rather the U.K. had more world champions like we did 15 years that spent most of their time fighting massive outsiders?
