One of my favorite boxing memories is when hopkins beat tavoris cloud and hopkins screamed at don king after the fight
Nobody quite heard what he said except don. And don was reportedly shook by it after the fight

Re: Manuel Charr vs. Trevor Bryan - January 29, 2021 (OFF)
I'm shocked and astounded that this has fallen over. The reason given as I understand it, is that Charr obtained a visa to enter the US but not a visa that would allow him to work (i.e. fight). Now I despise Don King as much as any right-thinking person but I don't see how he could have manipulated this situation. Surely this has to be Charr 's fault or that of his people?
What happened? Was the proposed fight with Bryan in the US such a complete surprise to him (what is it - two years now ... more?) that he didn't have time enough to check and find out what the US entry requirements were?
Still, look on the bright side : It opens the door to a Bryan / Stiverne fight and I always said Stiverne deserves another crack at the title after his impressive showing in the last one. Having pretty much cleaned up the division, and being one of the most active heavyweights, willing to fight anybody anywhere, surely nobody on here could begrudge him his chance? I mean apart from world class pro Deontay Wilder and former world class amateur Joe Joyce, the only other guy to beat him was the great Demetrice King.(tko 4 - try finding footage of that on the Internet
) who had eleven wins mostly by stoppage at the time of the fight. against only fifteen defeats.

"The WBA have now made Manuel Charr WBA 'regular' heavyweight 'champion in recess' and sanctioned Trevor Bryan vs Bermane Stiverne on Don King's show tonight for the vacant WBA 'regular' heavyweight belt."

I've done enough to warrent a title shot then going by this latest news and I've never had a professional fight
Re: Manuel Charr vs. Trevor Bryan - January 29, 2021 (OFF)
The IBO must wonder how it is they are given no respect, and are not regarded as a pukka governing body, yet this bunch of risible and corrupt clowns are. They would have to work extremely hard to become as thoroughly disgusting as the WBA. What offends me the most is that Gilberto Mendacious thinks - actually he knows - that he can do literally anything without risking the status within boxing of his odious organisation. What does that say about our sport?
As much as Sulaiman makes me want to throw up, compared to the WBA, the WBC look like a shining beacon of hope and integrity. It's really quite amazing.
Re: Manuel Charr vs. Trevor Bryan - January 29, 2021 (OFF)
A wueful fight. Bryan sucks. A fat, slow and limited fighter. Prime Stiverne could even win this.

how was coffee vs. rock?
Re: Manuel Charr vs. Trevor Bryan - January 29, 2021 (OFF)
Rock lost the first two rounds; got a talking to in his corner; came out punching in round three; took a tremendous left uppercut and went down; got up; took a huge left hook and went down. Fight over. Coffi looked strong. Rock's lack of discipline finally caught up to him. I'll try to find a vid to post.

Re: Manuel Charr vs. Trevor Bryan - January 29, 2021 (OFF)
it got me thinking though, if you are a 6'5 250 pound combat marine, is that a disadvantage because you are one big arse target? is it better to be a jemel herring size marine

A more or less good boxer should have KOed this version of Stiverne much earlier and without eating that amount of shots from him.

That's pushing max height. I think it's 6'6, or was. I'd bet average marine is around 5'10 175 or so.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Jan 2021, 02:38 it got me thinking though, if you are a 6'5 250 pound combat marine, is that a disadvantage because you are one big arse target? is it better to be a jemel herring size marine

Charr Vows To Beat Bryan, Then Wants Fury-Joshua Winner
Heavyweight contender Mahmoud "Manuel" Charr, 36-years-old, is still motivated to secure the biggest fights possible - including the winner of a potential summer unification between world champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
Charr has been out of the ring since November 2017, when he defeated Alexander Ustinov for the WBA's "regular" heavyweight title.
In January, he became the "champion in recess" after being unable to move forward with a scheduled fight against Trevor Bryan, who won the WBA's "regular" belt with a knockout of Bermane Stiverne.
Bryan is now under order to face Charr in the coming months - with a deadline of May 30.
"It was all very frustrating. Especially the fact of how it happened or didn't happen. But that's the way it is and I'm looking forward. I'm still training hard to be prepared for all future opponents," Charr told The Sun.
"I am glad that the WBA decided that Bryan has until the end of May to fight me. My team and I will do everything we can to make sure that the same story from January doesn't happen again. This time Don King will not get away with his shady games. And then the belt will be back where it belongs - with me!
"I am in the shape of my life. Bryan will not have a chance."
And beyond Bryan, he wants the biggest fight possible.
"Clearly, the winner of Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury," Charr said.
"Willpower beats talent. But both have will AND talent. I appreciate both of them very much. Both are absolute top boxers. It's going to be a close one. To be honest, I don't want to commit myself [on who the winner will be]."

Seriously, this WBA regular circus needs to end. Neither Bryan or Charr are fit to cary the jockstrap of Fury or Joshua and nobody will want to see either of them go in against the winner of the real heavyweight title fight.
Re: Manuel Charr vs. Trevor Bryan - January 29, 2021 (OFF)
I suggest Mr Charr that you take the time between now and say beginning of April, to familiarize yourself with Uncle Sam's requirements for the issuance of a work-visa ... FFS!
I know kingsnake is a wily corrupt old slimebag but don't make it easy for him to get what he wants at your expense.

Re: Manuel Charr vs. Trevor Bryan - WBA Ordered
According to the letter handed to the promoters involved and obtained by WBN’s Dan Rafael, Manuel Charr and Trevor Bryan will have to reach an agreement to fight by next month.
Charr is the ‘Champion in Recess’ to Bryan’s ‘Regular’ title. The order came during a ridiculous situation when Charr failed to get clearance to enter the USA for a planned bout between the pair.
HEAVYWEIGHT CHANCE
Neither holds a crown of any significance, but they will fight it out for a future chance to challenge unified king Oleksandr Usyk.
Once that eventual Usyk fight gets over the line, both will no longer hold any title unless they take the crown from the formidable Ukrainian.
It’s a poor happening that could get completely out of hand. That was until the WBA scenario got stopped by media and fan pressure.
But in reality, neither are a champion at the moment in any true sense of the word.
