At 126 Gomez was not in his best weight. Contrary to most of my Puerto Rican countrymen, Ive come to see Gomez as not that invincible monster. 126 and 130 were tough divisions for him to navigate specially in his era where there were no better training regimes (stero..ehem, ehem!) and people with bigger weights were bigger...also Gomez had a technical deficiency to leave his hands hanging low many times which Salvador Sanchez exploited to his benefit.

But the thing is, Marquez got beaten by Chris John and by Freddie Norwood..John should be a hall of famer in due time, but Norwood?

If Freddie Norwood beat Marquez (a deserving hall of famer, don't get me any wrong here) at 126, so does Gomez..Gomez UD

I think Marquez wins a really close decision or possibly loses a close one due to being dropped a few times. Gomez was definitely a hell of a banger, but Marquez wasn't exactly feather fisted himself.

At 126 it's a real competitive fight. At 130 it favors Marquez a lot more heavily.

At 126 Gomez close. At 130 Marquez, probably late KO
