I think the 9 fight novice should have given him an immediate rematch. Oh wait.....Offthehook wrote: ↑05 Feb 2021, 09:34

Re: cases where u/you disagree with most ppl
There are a few "unpopular opinions" of mine where I seem to be swimming against the tide...
1. Rocky Marciano BEATS Muhammad Ali
I see The Rock as an upgraded version of Joe Frazier (obviously there are differences but their styles are comparable) and I think we would punch the fight right out of Ali... Muhammad was spent against Frazier, I think The Rock takes him...
2. Manny Pacquaio ranks HIGHER than Floyd Mayweather
Pacman achieved more... Beat better fighters (arguably) and deserves to be higher ranked in the P4P list...
3. Steve Collins beats ANY version of Eubank or Benn
Yep, he beat them both twice... But he does so every day....

joe joyce's work rate doesnt actually seem that high to me , at least vs his good opponents jenn and dubois
i think prob with him, he has more to the skill and a bit less to the work rate than the general narrative..........he is actually surprisingly accurate despite his glacial, from the stoneages, thrown the first punch of his next fight already, slowness

Howard Foster got it spot on in the first Froch v Groves fight.

Go away you clueless idiot
Re: cases where u/you disagree with most ppl
It seems to be going this way as memory fades -
Fury DID NOT school Wlad, it was a fight that could have gone either way - and I know most on here know this, but I sometimes feel like I need to remind people - it was a shit, shit, shit fight. It seems to have gone down as some Ali vs Cleveland Williams punch perfect beautiful clinic. Even Fury has said a few times "didn't lose a round" - yes you did Tyson - you lost a few rounds.
Whilst I don't agree with the view that Haye gave Wlad a particularly challenging night - I do though scratch my head at the credit Fury gets for a completely non committal display against Wlad and the lambasting Haye gets for his non committal display. Fury on average landed just over 1 more punch per round than Haye did. Both were pretty crap performances if you ask me. Haye threw and landed a lot more punches vs Wlad than Wlad did vs Fury - that's how negative Wlad was.
Now Fury vs Wilder 1 and 2 is a different matter.

Re: cases where u/you disagree with most ppl
haye lost widely to wlad, about 9-3 or 10-2 for me
but, i can sort of see what is meant, wlad could hardly land anything himself and basically just ended up doing a bit more of nothing. haye landed the best shot of the fight in the 12th.
so he was a bit tricky for wlad even if well beat

Re: cases where u/you disagree with most ppl
what did you have for the first?
Re: cases where u/you disagree with most ppl
Had Lennox beating Holy easily both times. Much wider the first fight than the latter.
Re: cases where u/you disagree with most ppl
I had no issue with Haye’s performance against Wlad. He was probably his own worst enemy in that he talked trash to sell PPV’s but he was never a pressure fighter so he always likely to lose nearly every round by getting out jabbed or win by stoppage if he managed to clip & hurt Wlad & follow it up.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 14:33 haye lost widely to wlad, about 9-3 or 10-2 for me

I don’t think anyone who backed Haye to win expected him to be winning rounds & going in the front foot. It just wasn’t the way he fought.

116-113 ggg
115-113 canelo
for me
i do think if they fought again that canelo would win pretty handily though tbh, maybe even a late stoppage

I also think Canelo'd stop G late at this point. And because I respect Golovkin I don't wanna see it. In my book he's 1-1-0, with many others seeing it 1-0-1. And that's the post-prime version.
Collins is debatable. Had he fought a trilogy against each when they were in their primes, my view's that he was certainly good enough to win a couple of those fights.
I imagine there's more agreement on Pac than you think. I agree with you, at least.Crease wrote: ↑23 Feb 2021, 15:352. Manny Pacquaio ranks HIGHER than Floyd Mayweather

Re: cases where u/you disagree with most ppl
I rate Froch above Calslappy. Much better resume and Carl fought nearly every top fighter in his division in their prime. Didn't wait 10 years for 2 legends to age past prime before taking them on either. Funny how Joe's alleged fear of flying mysteriously disappeared once it came to fighting the 43 and 38 year olds...
Take the names Hopkins and RJJ away from Joe's record and his best wins are Kessler and the massively over-rated Lacy. Decent but hardly HOF material is it?

That's one of the great unknowns, where it's very arguable that Froch has the better record, but we got to see his limits.
Whereas I only feel we saw the very best of Calzaghe in glimpses. In his prime, that is. Between Brewer and Lacy there's a bit of a ghost town either side of Mitchell. I think it's very possible that his absolute prime was lost in there. I don't think he'd have had that classic with Mitchell had he been braver in his matchmaking.

Re: cases where u/you disagree with most ppl
froch obviously has more depth, but i think hopkins and prime kessler are right up there with any of froch's wins.
hoppy was old but still accomplished a lot after the fight, and kessler of course beat froch after losing to joe

Shame he didn't rematch Reid. Veit had a second chance. His only rematch, in fact.
