Kelly Pavlik vs Doug DeWitt

Post by AngryGoon38 »

12 round MW Showdown.
The Ghost vs The Cobra.
Pavlik lost to Hopkins and then to Martinez,at the tail end of his boxing career. Pavlik was at his best when he fought and defeated Jermain Taylor(Twice),so let's go with That Version of Pavlik.

As for DeWitt,he was more or less a Hot or Cold type. I thought he looked his best in a Losing effort against Hearns in 1986. He gave a Good Account of himself by going the distance with The Hitman, and not even hitting the deck once nor getting seriously Rocked either. So,Let's go with That Version of DeWitt.

Pavlik has simply too much in every department.....but he ain't having a nice night, easy pay cheque.
Maybe it ends a bit like the Benn fight with an 8/9 round stoppage but after some bumps and bruises?

Reading Benn's excellent book he gives DeWitt a lot of respect ; DeWitt got Benn's full attention and it was not a cakewalk.

He hit hard and was physically and mentally right up for the challenge but maybe lacking a degree of subtlety that made him capable of getting past Pavlik or Benn.

I agree with you. Pavlik wins but it would not be easy. He would have to be well prepared and at the top of his game. He could come away with a close hard fought unanimous decision.
