Still favour Usyk for this, thought he beat Chis comfortably myself, and his stamina is one of his strongest points, so not sure about the idea of Joe wearing him down.

I think Usyk's actually mostly wrong for Joe and will have the mobility and speed to score and move without taking so much that he's grinded down. comparing joe to chis--although i think joes got more momentum than chis, joe's style of stalking is a bit more methodical and might give usyk more time to think and find space than chis's did

Joyce in the dubois fight actually wasnt all that busy and didnt really turn up his work rate much, even when down on the cards. i did have him ahead slightly but it was cutting it close.

Joe Joyce: Usyk Will Be Tough, I'm Fairly Confident I Can Beat Him

“Generally, before all my fights, I don’t feel fear,” Joyce to The Guardian. “I’m just relaxed and chilled.

“It gives us an opportunity to fight the winner of AJ-Fury. I’m fairly confident I can beat him. I saw the fight against Derek Chisora. [which Usyk won on points] and he’s put on more muscle and weight and he’s slowing down a little. At the same time I know it’s going to be tough because he’s so skilled. But can he weather my punches for 12 rounds?”

“He was fresh from the London Olympics where he won a gold. I hadn’t fought many southpaws and Usyk’s an incredible fighter. He’s had 350 amateur fights and won 95% of them. So he was too seasoned,” says Joyce. “It was a bit like myself and Dubois where I had so much more experience. It will be different next time and I’m hearing it could be in the spring.”

I don't know, I just find it weird that there is this big media assault happening whereby everyone is saying how Usyk v Joyce is up next and is going to be ordered by the WBO. But where are the quotes from Usyk's team?

So where are the quotes coming from:

Hearn? The guy trying to make undisputed in Saudia Arabia.
$$$

Warren? It's an open secret that his finances aren't all that health. He's had a finger in both the Fury and Joyce pies so of course he is for a Usyk v Joyce fight.
$$$

Joyce's camp? Joyce wants revenge, and also gets a shot at becoming mandatory.
$$$

WBO? Not that I've seen, but remember not to long ago (2019) the WBO had a battle with Dillian Whyte when they announced Usyk was the mandatory. So why are they now making Usyk fight Joyce to keep his mandatory position?
$$$

Also something to consider, the marketing for Fury v Joshua started as early as August 2020, with a tie-in with EA Sports UFC4, whereby Joshua and Fury were released as DLC playable characters. Add to that development time, and before that negotiation between all parties. Then you can tell they had been planning Joshua v Fury for sometime. So I kind of sense that Joshua v Fury is being pushed hard for this year.

Usyk is just the guy from the eastern block that is going to get railroaded out of his title shot. Too much money is at stake for too many interested parties in boxing.

As for getting a shot down the line, I suppose it depends how confident Usyk is that Joshua comes out on top against Fury.

Personally, i am sure I will enjoy Usyk v Joyce, but this feels very similar to the Whyte / WBC situation where rules were being bent/ignored/adjusted to suit the interests of their champion and their own pockets.

Joe Joyce: Talks Going Well For Usyk Clash in April, I Can Stop Him!

Heavyweight contender Joe Joyce has revealed that the negotiations for a showdown with amateur rival Oleksandr Usyk are going very well.

Usyk, the mandatory challenger to the WBO title, is considering the scenario of fighting Joyce, who holds the number two position in the WBO's rankings. Their contest would involve the WBO's interim-title.

The victor would be guaranteed a crack at the winner of the full division unification between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua - which may land in May or June if finalized.

The two sides are in talks for a date in April, says Joyce.

“Yes, it’s going as planned so it seems… the winner will get the WBO. It’s looking like April. The negotiations seem to be going well and it looks like the fight is going nicely and it’s almost confirmed. I can’t wait. Back in the gym, getting ready. I think I’m going to go for the knockout, the stoppage. I’m going to stop his feet," Joyce told BT Sport, according to SunSport.

“I’m going to have to be smart and switched on not to take too many shots back. I want to stop his feet by any means necessary but also listen to my corner and all the things I’ve been doing inside the gym. Do all the hard work in the gym so it’s easy by the time I get to the fight.”

Joyce faced Usyk eight years ago in the World Series of Boxing - when the two boxers were amateurs.

In that fight, Usyk walked away with a hard-fought decision win.

But Joyce feels confident in his improvements as a pro - and he believes Usyk is no longer the same fighter who unified the entire cruiserweight division.

“I’ve learned a lot since then and he’s bulked up in size a bit. Maybe he lost a little speed, so I’ve kind of caught up with him, and I hope to take over him in this next fight," Joyce said.

“I got a lot of experience in the WSB. Yeah, I hadn’t really fought a southpaw as good as him. It was a really tough fight. It was a good learning fight for me as well because his skills were next level. This whole camp will be focused on fighting him, so I’ll be getting the sparring and the tactics. I’ll be working on stuff just for him. Also, the pro gloves and the power shots that I’ve picked up over the years. I’ll have the power to stop him. I just need to catch up to him, cut off the ring on him, and don’t let him move around too much and take it away from him. He’s going to be a tough person to catch to land a shot, but very skilful. Hit him on the nose, the body, the head.”

Frank W Aims To Finalize Joe Joyce vs. Oleksandr Usyk Clash

"Talks are ongoing with Oleksandr Usyk's team about a showdown between those two around April time. We want it to be for the WBO interim belt with Usyk the mandatory for the full title. Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to face each other at some point this year for all four major world belts," Warren told The Daily Star.

"But the winner of Joyce and Usyk will be ready for their shot once those two big men have settled it all. When we signed Joyce we said we could bring him a world title. And I really believe that.

"We know we put him up against rising star Dubois but that proves how we are happy to pit out prospects against each other. The winner was always going to get on the fast track to a world title and it was Joyce who deservedly came out on top. Joyce is an Olympic silver medallist so his pedigree is there to see and he has shared a ring with Usyk before in the World Series of Boxing – an amateur/pro hybrid. That night the Ukrainian came out on top but I believe it will be different this time. Let's hope we can get the fight on."

Im going with Joyce, i think he will win down the stretch on points, his greater weight of shot will count over the long haul.

I think Joyce may need to take quite a few early on to get the upper hand, and will need to turn it into a scrappy dogfight to try and wear usyk down, he wont win in a genteel boxing match.

Not sure about that James, Uysk is a notoriously slow starter.
Heck, even Tony got to bring the POWA early on.

Edit: Uysk may start a bit faster since they have fought before, although that was a (boxing) lifetime ago.

I've always maintained Joyce is much better than people credited him for, but before Usyk even unified at Cruiser I tipped him to move up and beat AJ. This was before Fury came back on the scene. Now, I see Usyk as an ageing fighter who's transition to heavy has not been as impressive as even David Haye. Chisora made Usyk work and look very uncomfortable at times. Joyce is much bigger than Chisora and has more to his game. In fact I'd say he was the naturally biggest world class heavy in terms of frame other than Fury (Joshua is comparable, but carries body builder type muscle, whereas Joyce is just big: his head probably weighs 3 stone on its own. It was weird how he made Dubois look noticeably smaller, despite Dubois being a very big man). I think Joyce will eventually get to him and beat him up.

Joyce KO.

usyk's engine is one of his biggest strengths, ppl always go on about how their wsb fight was only 5 rounds, but usyk has proven himself to be as much of a 12 round fighter as any

and tbh, what type of pace was joyce setting vs his 2 good opponents, jen and ddd? it was hardly special but ppl act like he just comes in throwing nonstop, which simply isnt true. yet there's this reputation as some untiring, super workrate giant.

imo, usyk's movement, speed, boxing is enough to avoid being worn down by jj. jj is also a lot more methodical than chisora and will give usyk more time to move and find space.

usyk on points for me, it will be close to the fight most people thought it would before jjj beat dubios (who is nothing remotely like usyk in anything really, totally different matchup)

Let's see but JJ is that bit bigger, bigger engine too and better boxing wise than the first fight.

Better engine than Chisora! Also engine isn't just about throwing punches, it's about keeping coming and pressure

People that didn't see it. Jennings gave him his hardest night and went the full 12, but I don't think many will argue that he won. He was competitive when he was expected to come in with no ambition and be wiped out.

It's a dull fight. I was there in the crowd and I'm probably Joyce's biggest cheerleader on here and even I was f*cking bored. Everybody is allowed an off night, I guess.

Joyce is slow and methodical, but has a good boxing brain. He made Dubois look very ordinary at times.

Usyk, of course. He has a jab, good chin and even can avoid best Dub's shots. For today it will be enough to deal with Dub, as it has been shown.
