Just read a story about his Heavyweight Championship reign, and the troubles he got himself in during that time the other day.

RIP Neon Leon.

Without a doubt Leon was one of the most exciting amateur fighters to ever step into the ring. That and his exhibition of determination and non-stop punching when he upset Ali will is what I will remember.

RIP Champ.

A good, exciting, all action fighter - the man who beat the man - no-one can take that away from him.

To think these days he would be comfortable at the cruiserweight limit, even still, he fought at 13st 8lb and a world title shot at that weight.

He lived many people's a thousand lifetimes all in one go. By all accounts, a nice, decent, peaceful man.

RIP Champ. :salut:

A memorable character because of his achievement and struggles.

Arguably the best smile in the boxing history.

Sad news indeed.

I hated Leon for beating Ali and Michael for doing the same to Holmes but that was just me being narrow minded.

Both brothers seemed to be really good guys.

I hope Michael is ok.

Leon was rough and tough, he was one of those wild swinging sometimes uncoordinated types of boxer who could get the job done in the trenches.
Leon Spinks name will certainly live on and be spoken about from time to time.

I've said this many times, but I wish someone would do a film or docudrama about Leon's life.

That man had one hell of a story to tell.

It's a shame he's no longer here to tell that story in person.

RIP Champ. :verysad:

Good call.

It's easy to forget Michael in this.

The bond he must have had with his big brother cannot be measured.

Both embarked on the same profession; both won Olympic golds; both became HW champions against the odds against ATG HW champions.
