I like listening to an interviewer who has actually followed the sport and has good knowledge. Most of these YouTube frauds don't know shit.

Tris is especially adept in the Murray interview. He made a valuable interjection mentioning how tough a fight Murray had against a Georgian boxer in Stoke back in 2011 !

That would have passed by without any comment, but it jogged Martin's memory who confirmed that had been a very hard night's work.

Yeh, the Murray interview was great. That Murray has changed his life around, is genuinely remorseful of what he has done when he was a lad, has made me warm to him. Seems like a good bloke and hopefully he stays in the game and be a good influence on lads who are like he was as a kid. Refreshing because unlike some of the other ones I have heard previously, he doesnt think that '...he looked at me funny so I smashed his head in' is a badge of honour.

Tony Jeffries is a great listen. A very switched on bloke who did very well outside of boxing.

I think Pat Barrett is up next :bag:

I hope sufficient time is given to his wins over Tony Willis and Efram Calamati. Outstanding wins

I remember when Pat won the British title in the summer of 1989. It was a summer of upsets. Jim McDonnell ended the career of Barry McGuigan, Jeff Harding stopped Dennis Andries, Dave McAuley licked Duke McKenzie, Gianfranco Rosi schooled Darrin Van Horn, Michael Watson outclassed Nigel Benn...
Lloyd Christie held the British light-welterweight title and was due to defend against his stablemate Tony Willis. Then all of a sudden Christie, who fought all of his early career at welterweight, decided the effort to get down was too much and he relinquished. In came Barrett and he went after Willis from the start. Willis was a cagey southpaw who had a habit of leaning back to avoid punches and dropping his hands when he did so. Barrett worked him out and finally got him with a brilliant left hook in the ninth round. I remember Brian Hughes rushing in to congratulate his fighter. Pat was Brian's first British champion.

Couldn’t really get to into the Barrett one. He’s far from an open book. I’ve always wondered why he could never go in the corners for years but he wasn’t even asked. Serious villains like Tibbs, Bowers, Fury never had problems. Must be racism at the board at that time. Everyone knew Pat ran with gangs but only did a few short sentences. The rest did decades between them.

Pat Barrett was a good listen.

Very hard minded bloke , didn’t play the depression or victim card about any of his life experiences, which was refreshing to see.

Really looking forward to this one, I'll wait until it's on Acast so I can download at home and listen at work.

Listened to the Tony Jeffries one today, really enjoyed that. Interesting reveals about Warren and Moloney.
