Nothing long term by the sound of things but was on a fight by fight basis and there would have been contracts for those fights. Similar to Bellew, Dillian Whyte and others. It’s just that Groves went elsewhere after the first Froch fight.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Feb 2021, 11:00Yeh, working with Matchroom. Wasn't under contract was he? or did I miss something?maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2021, 09:59Yeah - he was promoted by Matchroom in his fight before Froch.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Feb 2021, 08:42
I checked. Groves left Hayemaker/Booth before the first Froch fight.. He was managing his own affairs at the time of the first Froch fight. He was just working with Frank W and Hearn on a fight-by-fight basis.
He then signed with Sauerland AFTER the rematch was announced and sold out, but BEFORE it took place.

Fully agree though that Eddie was up Froch’s arse in a similar way to the recent Dubois/Joyce fight.

Lara braced for war, not worried about judges’ scorecards - 11th Feb 2021
Currently a 12-1 outsider with Betfred, Mexico City’s Lara insists he is not worried about the scorecards in the UK with compatriot Miguel Vazquez among those visiting boxers to have received a raw deal from British judges in recent times – in two eye-rubbing decision losses against Ohara Davies and Lewis Ritson.
“Initially, when I heard it was a world title fight, I was really excited and motivated,” said Lara. “When the news came that it was no longer going to be a world title fight it didn’t change things. I remained just as motivated. We’ve prepared to do a job and that’s what we’re going to do. I’ve prepared to come and win. I know that I am going to win. I’ve prepared really hard to go to war in the ring.
“I’m not concerned about the decisions of the judges if it goes to points. We’ve come prepared to win, whether that is by knockout, which would be ideal, but if not I’m going to make sure it is a clear victory so it doesn’t need to depend on the judges. Either way, I think they will do their jobs correctly.
“Josh Warrington is seen as the world’s number one featherweight fighter in Mexico and he’s number one for a reason. They also believe in me and they know that I am going to war in London on Saturday.”

Never had strong feelings about Warrington either way as a fighter, but just read this interview with Tris Dixon about how he's feeling in the aftermath of his defeat and he comes across as a really class act.

Given he's going to carry on I really hope he's able to rise to those heights again. I'll certainly be rooting for him on the basis of his attitude.

I never thought Warrington was the most talented but his attitude got him to the top.

The fight was great, an exciting one. Warrington tried to overwhelm Lara, but Lara was able to fight back and get better of it. Warrington showed some toughness, how only he survived the 4th.
