Kirkland Laing - amateur record
Kirkland Laing - amateur record
I've finally got round to putting details of Kirkland Laing's amateur record onto Boxrec for all the fights I managed to trace. If anyone knows of any amateur fights of his that I've missed, please do let me know. Thanks.

Re: Kirkland Laing - amateur record
nice job
57-20, obviously a good record, but it makes you wonder about all these dudes claiming records like 180-2 and stuff.. like the famous 404-4 of don curry, when even a partial collection of his amateur fight shows like 10 losses
i knew a dude who was a good am, had a record of think it was 48-16 or 51-18 last time i talked to him before turning, then when he did he was getting billed as being like 70-8 in the ams
it's like, these dudes counting sparring sessions they did good in or something?

Thank you!

Thank you. Re your point about records, it may just be part of the winning mentality genuinely to underestimate your number of losses. For example, I traced the amateur record of one of Laing's opponents as a favour to him, and because I was interested. He estimated that he'd lost about half a dozen. I found plenty of wins, but also about thirty losses. Mind you, that was because he was often facing the top guys one after another and hardly had any easy fights for a while during his career - the number of losses was no reflection on how good he was.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑18 Feb 2021, 22:35 nice job

I would take most amateur record claims with a pinch of salt, too easy to exaggerate.
