Will McCracken be getting 10% of AJ’s purse per fight? Or do they work out a lower percentage once they reach a certain level of stardom?

Was it the same for Froch? Not much out there on what McCracken might be worth but I bet he’s not short of a few quid.

There’s no way he’ll be getting 10% of his purses as it would make him one of the richest men in British boxing. He’s probably on a really good salary.

I remember tiger woods’ long-time caddy being one of the richest sportsmen in New Zealand for a time owing to his percentage cut of tiger’s winnings. My understanding is that the caddy was a low-level golf pro.

No idea but you'd think it would be a contracted salary of some sort. Percentage deals invariably lead to fall outs when fighters hit the big time. Joshua was on big money from the start, so was in a good position to pay the piper well from the start.

The more these boxers earn, trainers can’t expect to keep getting 10%.

Trainers how are on a percentage and refuse to take a set amount are usually let go.

You see it with some fighters when they get a big money fight and leave the trainer they have been with for years straightway.

England Boxings annual salary bill (not GB) was close to £1m several years ago. GB receive around £13m over the 4 year cycle to chase medal success.

The Sheffield base for Team GB has been referred to by some wags as the Matchroom's second home with rumours, most likely said in jest, that Eddie Hearn had bought a house in Sheffield to be close to the action.

Frank has asked the question as to whether Team GB's facilities should be made available to all professional promoters, presumably in light of the potential conflict of interest with the AJ/McCracken/Matchroom partnership.

Salaried positions in sport are created to keep others higher up the tree in employment. For every development initiative that is dreamt up there's a whole team of people at Sport England creating funding pots for NGB's to tap into. A lot of that £1m salary bill didn't exist a few years ago.

Yes, the words gravy and train come to mind. Where there is considerable funding available, there will never be a shortage of willing volunteers with yet another good idea as to how it's just essential that the funding gets spent in this or that particular way.
