Bob, do you have any record on Meldrick Taylor? His claimed amateur record is 99-4.
Taylor was a National Golden Gloves champion at 54 kg when only 15 years (?). I find it strange he made a jump to 63,5 kg in the 1983 World Juniors where he reached the finals but was knocked out by Angel Espinosa. Then he dropped back down to 57 kg and won Olympic gold.

Re: Meldrick Taylor
I have a partial record with only about 35 fights or so...the original I had on the computer was accidentally erased, but I will retype it from my notes soon and post it.

Re: Meldrick Taylor
Thanks Bob
Still don´t get how he jumped from 54 kg in December 1982 all the way to 63,5 kg in August 1983 and then back down to 57 kg in February 1984?
My guess would be Taylor skipped 60 kg because Pernell Whitaker was already there and after being knocked out by Espinosa at 63,5 kg he realized he better starve to make 57 kg for the Olympics.

Re: Meldrick Taylor
Just shows the lack of credibility in these "claimed" amateur records. He lost to Andy Minsker once in 1984, yet that loss is not added into numbers between Dec'83 and turning pro.
