Teofimo Lopez: Within This Fight Or My Next Fight, I'll Be A Free Agent

Teofimo Lopez Jr. doesn’t view his next fight as merely a one-off event on another platform; rather, the starting point for a new chapter in his career.

The mudslinging between the undefeated lineal lightweight champion and career-long promoter Top Rank continues to dominate headlines, almost as much as news of the financial terms for his next fight. Brooklyn’s Lopez will face IBF mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 11 KOs) later this spring, with the bout to take place on a Pay-Per-View event presented by Triller Fight Club, who assumed control of the bout after submitting $6,018,000 at a recent purse bid hearing.

“ESPN knows them and how much I love my relationship with them and the platform. Of course, they’re upset. They’re disappointed in Todd duBoef and Top Rank and this is what happens, man,” Lopez explained in a recent interview on Sirius XM’s The Ak and Barak Show with co-hosts Akin Reyes and Barak Bess. “I look at it like this—I know what I’m worth.

“As long as they—if [Top Rank] could have treated us with respect, they could’ve done things properly like we should have in this business, then we wouldn’t be in this situation right now. Honestly, God’s got better plans for me right now and it’s going towards Triller.”

The massive bid submitted by Triller CEO Ryan Kavanaugh far outpaced offers from Matchroom Boxing ($3,506,000) and Top Rank ($2,315,000), in fact exceeding their combined total as revealed during the Zoom conference call last Thursday.

It served as an exclamation point to more than three months’ worth of negotiations, taking place shortly after Lopez’s 12-round unanimous decision win over Vasiliy Lomachenko last October to become the WBA/IBF/WBO lightweight titlist and the division’s lineal champion. The 2016 Honduran Olympian also secured 2020 Fighter of the Year honors, eager to repeat in 2021, though of the realization that his year would begin with a previously ordered mandatory title defense versus Kambosos.

Top Rank founder and chairman Bob Arum didn’t make any secret of his disinterest in paying Lopez more than what the company felt the fight was worth to air on an ESPN platform. Nor did the Hall of Fame promoter mask his disdain over Matchroom managing director Eddie Hearn attempting to pursue the rights to the fight and for it to stream live on DAZN.

Details of a side conversation between Top Rank and DAZN were ultimately leaked in a recent story published by The Athletic. An e-mail exchange revealed an inquiry from Top Rank president Todd duBoef on whether DAZN—through Hearn—really planned to bid on the fight, calling it a “brazen act by DAZN, particularly after [Top Rank] cleared ESPN programming off of May 8 for DAZN’s Canelo [Alvarez] v [Billy Joe] Saunders big event moving our scheduled event to later in the month.”

The Top Rank event to which duBoef referred is the undisputed junior welterweight championship between unbeaten, unified titlists Jose Ramirez and Josh Taylor. The four-belt clash was originally targeted to take place May 8 in Las Vegas—the same date as, and rumored hosting city for Alvarez-Saunders—only for Top Rank to have since announced that the blockbuster showdown will now air May 22 on ESPN and ESPN+.

According to The Athletic’s Mike Coppinger, a follow-up email was generated between parties on the DAZN side, referencing the “favor” granted in moving Ramirez-Taylor off of the May 8th date.

David McWater, Lopez’s manager was also quoted in the story in offering his disappointment over the attempt to manipulate the purse bid hearing. The 2020 Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Manager of the Year spent several weeks negotiating the fight with the team representing Australia’s Kambosos.

Given the disparity between what Top Rank was offering and what Team Lopez felt was fair compensation, advancing the fight to a purse bid hearing proved to be in Lopez’s best interest.

“We are very excited that the free market has spoken,” McWater told Boxing Scene of the outcome, for which Team Lopez will be entitled to 65%— $3,911,700—of the winning bid. Top Rank is entitled to a 20% cut of the purse, leaving Lopez with well north of $3,000,000.

“This right here will set the tone because my fight will be [the] main event,” suggests Lopez. “If we can hit two million pay-per-view buys, I’m on the cusp of becoming a pay-per-view star.”

Despite the career-best payday for Lopez, the series of events leading to this point also leaves a bad taste in his mouth. The turn of events has the 23-year old eager to break free from his current promotional contract which is still valid for another 3 ½ years.

“I see myself within this fight or my next fight, I’ll be a free agent,” believes Lopez, who plans to take legal action in efforts to terminate the existing contract. “There’s so much proof to get out of this Top Rank contract and they gave me the golden ticket. Todd duBoef gave me the golden ticket by doing so. They already dug a bigger hold than needed to.

“Takeover Promotions will be in effect and it’ll be Takeover Promotions times a network, God willing. That’s what I’m looking forward to—ESPN, PBC (Fox or Showtime), Triller… the list can go on and on, DAZN. There’s so many guys and I know that I bring all that to the platform.”

Teo's head just keeps getting bigger, and this time it's Triller's fault.

Even Hearn's bid was just less than half of that..

Yea, wouldent want it to ever see a court, i think you just got to threaten legal action to try get a discount on your contract buy out, then buy out, bet on yourself. if he keeps winning bob keeps trying to pay him 1.2 million he kinda has to squirm out somehow. or purse bid everything...

What a childish moron. Treating someone with respect isnt the same as "giving them what they want". I'm sure there are lots of people that would want my house and car, some of these people also probably feel entitled to my sh1t, I'm not going to "treat those people with respect" and give them my stuff.

"This situation". Crybaby didnt get everything that he wanted so now he wants to jump ship to someone who will pay him more. What a "situation".

I'm kinda losing interest in this fight to be honest, such a childish character, feels like I'm watching the god damn cartoon network. Hell do I care about how a fight goes thats being fought by some naive child. I dont.

Interview: George Kambosos

Congratulations on a great winning IBF purse bid of over $6 million from Triller Fight Club for Teofimo Lopez versus George Kambosos. Did you have any idea Triller would be bidding?

I did hear there was some interest from Triller but I didn’t know they were going to come in and outbid everyone. The fight game is changing. Especially in America. Triller did the Mike Tyson versus Roy Jones exhibition, but this is the first proper boxing championship. This is history for Triller as well. What a fight to promote with all the belts on the line!

Eddie Hearn showed a lot of interest by bidding for the fight. Did you know he was interested?

I fought on Matchroom last fight when I beat Selby. I have a lot of respect for Eddie Hearn. After the purse bid he said how happy he was and what a good fight Lopez-Kambosos is and good they will be paid well. The promoters and managers are already rich. It’s the fighters who put their lives on the line that need to be paid well.

Bob Arum at one point was interested in promoting the Lopez versus Kambosos in Australia. Did he lose interest in coming to Australia?

No, Bob Arum didn’t lose interest. It was Australian promoter Brian Amatruda and Mick Gatto who were putting on the show. These guys came up with the money to bring Lopez out. They were coming to Australia. We had the deal on the table for it. I got to show a lot of love to Brian Amatruda and Mick Gatto. They know real boxing.

The quarantine issue with COVID-19 was the problem with what the Australian Open tennis suffered with tennis players not happy with 14-day quarantine in hotels. Bob tried to strike a deal with Lopez but he never offered us anything.

Has there been a venue and date mentioned for Lopez-Kambosos?

I am hearing May 29 in Miami. We will have to wait and see. Miami will be great. That is where I train in the USA. I am training with Mick Akkawy at the Akkawy Gym in Sydney at this time. We are doing fantastic work putting a great game plan together. I am training extremely hard with my strength and conditioning trainer. I will be back in the USA in two or three weeks ready for a big twelve-week camp with my trainer Javiel Centeno.

Do you see flaws in the boxing style and technique of Teofimo Lopez that you can capitalize on?

I see so many flaws and holes in Lopez. I can’t believe how much they are hyping up this kid because he had the win over Lomachenko who didn’t throw a punch for seven rounds. I see the flaws. I have a good boxing IQ. My explosive power is going to shock him – my movement- my footwork. I just know I am a better fighter than him.

You worked as chief sparring partner to boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, doing 250 rounds in three of his world title bouts. Did he ever hurt you in sparring?

I was never hurt in sparring with Pacquiao. We did 250 rounds. I was never staggered. We had such great sparring. I learned so much from him. Manny is legendary. He is up there with the all-time greats. That sparring with Manny is the ace in my sleeve. What can Lopez do to me after doing 250 rounds with Manny Pacquiao? I am going to beat Lopez.

That will be bigger than what any other boxer has done from Australia including Jeff Fenech and Lionel Rose. I will go down as the best ever from Australia. Beating Lopez will not be a shock to me and my team. It’s a very exciting time.

Japanese boxer Myoshi Nakatani took Lopez the twelve round distance. Do you feel Lopez’ power is overrated

Nakatani and Lomachenko both took Lopez the distance. He throws his right hand shot, but I know exactly how to get away from it. He has a dangerous left hook but I have a good left hook also. He doesn’t have my speed or work rate. I believe he has engine problems. His stamina is not elite. He has good punching power. He is a minimal puncher. He is a one-two puncher. He makes a lot of mistakes and is only 23 years. This is a fantastic time to get him when he is on top of the world. He has all this fame and he thinks he is untouchable. Everyone has been scared of Lopez father and son. They have gone into a shell. I am going to say, ‘Hey Lopez Junior / Lopez Senior. I am coming straight for you. Do something about that!’

The lightweight division is very exciting with Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, and Devin Haney being stars of that weight class. Are you looking forward to fights with them?

I am looking forward to fighting them. I had a great Facetime with Ryan García last Saturday. He sent me a great message. Ryan was in Miami. He was with my manager Peter Kahn. Ryan showed me a lot of respect and is backing me to beat Lopez and said you got to give me the first crack at the titles. Ryan García is fast with good power. Gervonta Davis has good power also. I don’t rate Devin Haney. I don’t believe he is a true champ. He loves to talk.

Former world champions Lovemore Ndou and Jeff “Hitman” Harding have both predicted you will defeat Lopez.

Lovemore was a great world champion and a fantastic man. I am going to read his new book “ Tough Love” that has just come out. I am going to get my hands on it. Lovemore has always been a big supporter of my career. Lovemore has been in there with Miguel Cotto and Saul Alvarez. He sparred with me a few years ago and predicted then I would be world champion

Jeff is an absolute legend of our sport. I have had the privilege of having a chat with him a few times at Marrickville. When he won that WBC title in America in 1989 it was inspirational. Former world champion Danny Green, Gairy StClaire, Will Tomlinson all reached out to me. I take this support with me.

Triller Overspent on Lopez Fight, but Unique Business Model May Yield Profit

Back in late February, Triller Fight Club (TFC)—a subsidiary of the music-based social media network, Triller—won the live broadcast rights to undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez’s upcoming bout against George Kambosos with a purse bid of $6.018 million. Considering the bid was $2.5 million greater than what anyone else was willing to pay for the fight (Matchroom Boxing bid $3.506 million, Top Rank bid $2.315 million), boxing insiders have suggested TFC overpaid. But because the Triller Fight Club business model is so different from that of a traditional boxing broadcaster, it may not matter—at least in terms of the company being able to turn a profit on the event. TFC plans to pair the lightweight title fight with “some of the biggest names in social media, music, [and sports]” to create what co-owner Ryan Kavanaugh calls a “four quadrant epic event.” By surrounding the Lopez-Kambosos fight with a collective of other entertainment elements, the company believes it can draw demographics that wouldn’t otherwise buy a boxing PPV (including the under-30 crowd). The formula worked back in November when Triller put Badou Jack on a card with Jake Paul/Nate Robinson, Mike Tyson/Roy Jones Jr., French Montana and Wiz Khalifa. The event did more than 1.5 million buys.

Our Take: TFC overpaid for Lopez-Kambosos by at least $2 million. There was literally no chance another promoter was going to bid above $4 million. But Kavanaugh got what he came for—a fight, and a fighter (in Lopez), that will motivate the hardcore boxing fan to buy the event. Remember, while Triller is trying to reach a collective of different demographics that typically do not buy boxing PPVs, they still want/need to draw the sport’s core fan base.

Kavanaugh wasn’t concerned about the perception TFC overpaid, saying the company bid what they believed the fight to be worth and that “we think we’ll make a lot of money on [the event].” How much money would seemingly depend on the celebrities, influencers, athletes and music acts that surround the title fight. Nothing has been announced to date, but the Triller co-founder said there will be a “social media fighter, an NFL fighter and a UFC fighter” all fighting on the card.

Without tying in music, social and all the other entertainment elements, Kavanaugh suggested a PPV card headlined by Lopez-Kambosos would draw 500,000 boxing purists. But it’s Triller’s hope that by wrapping the title fight into a much larger entertainment spectacle they can turn the event in a PPV that does “more than a million and a half [buys].” While Lopez is a rising star, there’s no way Lopez-Kambosos would do a 500,000 buys for a traditional boxing broadcaster. In fact, 300,000 would be a stretch. For reference purposes, Showtime’s September ‘20 doubleheader PPV featuring the Charlo brothers did less than 120,000.

However, if Kavanaugh’s math is correct and TFC can increase the number of buys 3x by surrounding a fight with some other high-demand entertainment, it’s not unreasonable to suggest the PPV could do between 500,000 and 1 million buys. Kavanaugh said the event would be profitable at 1 million buys, even after paying $6 million for Teofimo-Kambosos “and then adding in what we still have to pay to all of the other talent, all of the other fighters.” Another boxing promoter indicated break-even was likely a much lower number. “If [Triller] does 300,000, 400,000 [buys] they will come out OK,” the promoter said. “They are not going to lose money.” For informational purposes, TFC plans to price the event at $49.99.

If Matchroom or Top Rank could sell out a venue (i.e. there weren’t COVID limitations), it’s possible they might have been willing to bid more. But “it wouldn’t have taken anyone into the $6 million realm,” the promoter we spoke to said. “Unless you’re Canelo Alvarez or Anthony Joshua, the gate isn’t going to be huge. You need a mega fight or a mega star to get a big gate,” the promoter explained. Lopez vs. Kambosos at Madison Square Garden with 12,000 fans might have generated a little more than $1 million in net gate receipts. It’s worth noting that neither Matchroom nor Top Rank was planning to go the PPV route. Top Rank would have placed the fight on ESPN or ESPN+, and Matchroom would have aired the fight on DAZN.

The prospect of a limited gate was a nonfactor in Triller’s purse bid. That’s because having fans in the building is not part of the company’s business model. “We don’t, as of now, intend on having a paid audience to any of [our live sports events],” Kavanaugh explained. “The way we shoot and light these [events], we’re basically building a movie set [around the ring], so it’s harder for us to have a live audience.” While fans won’t be able to buy their way into the Lopez-Kambosos fight, “There will be ways [roughly 100 individuals] can win their way in,” the TFC executive said.

While the absence of a live gate could cost Triller millions in the short-term, “Creating the perfect look for the home viewer is long-term what is going to drive people to see [future] Fight Club events,” Kavanaugh said. “We think people are going to be talking about the production quality and how different it looks [and ultimately that will drive people to buy PPVs down the line].” Part of Triller’s thesis is that to attract the younger demo, content needs to be delivered in a new and engaging format. “This next fight [card, headlined by Jake Paul] will have a Tarantino meets Stranger Things feel in terms of the lighting and the camera angles,” he said. It remains to be seen if the TFC’s production quality will lead to buys, but there was positive sentiment around the broadcast on social media during the Tyson-Jones event.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum recently said he believed Triller’s willingness to spend $6 million on Lopez-Kambosos was indicative of the platform’s plans to place the fight on the undercard of Tyson-Holyfield III. “As of now, that’s not the plan,” Kavanaugh said.

Everything George Kambosos says is right and mature. Everything that comes from Teofimo is immature and stupid. I'm gonna go on record here and predict a Kambosos win. As for Teo's relationship with Top Rank after this fight.... he'll be begging Arum not to release him from his contract.

Kambosos on Lopez Fight: My Priority is Taking Those Belts, F--- The Money

When lightweight contender George Kambosos got the phone call he was waiting for from manager Peter Kahn to tell him the results of the purse bid for his mandatory title shot against unified world champion Teofimo Lopez, he had a distinct reaction.

“When that did come through I was drinking a coffee and I nearly spat my coffee out. It was great,” Kambosos told Boxing Scene.

Kambosos, understandably, was thrilled with the outcome. Not only will he get a shot at titles but he will earn by far his biggest purse.

“I believe it's well deserved because I've taken the hard road same as Lopez, you know. He deserves the money. He beat the man to become the man,” Kambosos said of Lopez’s upset decision win over Vasiliy Lomachenko to unify titles on Oct. 17. “So, we put our lives on the line and exactly how (Matchroom Boxing promoter) Eddie Hearn came out and said he’s so happy for us both and he’s not even our promoter. He didn’t even win the bid, but he said, ‘The boys deserve it. They’re both young guys, they’re both working hard. Us promoters are already rich and without the fighters there are no fights. Two guys putting it on the line, they’re both undefeated.’ He’s 23, I’m 27. This is huge. This is great for the sport because it shows how much money is still in boxing. It’s great.”

Under the terms of Triller’s winning bid, Lopez, as champion, is entitled to 65 percent of the money, which is $3,911,700, although he must pay Top Rank 20 percent ($782,340) since Top Rank didn’t win the auction. Kambosos is entitled to 35 percent ($2,106,300) minus a roughly 25 percent (about $500,000) cut that goes to DiBella.

“I wasn’t sure who was gonna bid. I didn’t watch the Zoom call. I just got the phone call from my manager Peter Kahn, who I believe is the best manager in the world,” Kambosos said. “As soon as the call came through and he said what happened I said, ‘Beautiful.’”

And then, as long as he was awake, Kambosos said he went for a run.

The money Kambosos will make will dwarf his biggest purse, which was $167,000 for a decision victory over Lee Selby in the October 2020 title elimination fight that earned him the shot at Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs), 23, of Brooklyn, New York.

“When I was (fighting) in Australia I was making very good money when it comes to fighting in Australia. But I took that risk. I went to the U.S. for the opportunity,” he said. “I said, you know what, I’m gonna go to the U.S., I’m gonna learn my craft over there, I’m gonna take the risk, and whatever money came – and look, it was very small money when I came to America. The people in Australia said, ‘You’re crazy. You’re making big money here, you’re gonna be headlining big stadiums real soon. What are you doing?’ But my destiny was always to come to the U.S. and to take the road that I have and work the hard way. And look where we’re at today? We become the highest paid fighter in Australian combat sports.”

As good as the money will be to fight Lopez, Kambosos said it is not the most important thing to him.

“The money is not my priority,” he said. “What my priority is is taking those belts. Excuse my French, but f--- the money. The money will come, the money was always gonna come. For me, I want the belts. Lopez, we all know that he wanted the money. He was adamant, (asking for) $5 million, $6 million, $10 million. I know his mind is on the money. He’s already achieved everything that there is in boxing. He’s the unified champion of the world and he has all those belts. My drive, my motivation is about winning them titles. Everyone thinks he’s an immortal. He can’t be beat. Well, they said the same thing about Lomachenko.”

Kambosos, like many, said he had never heard of Triller until they put on the well-received Tyson-Jones event. He said he is happy to work with them on the fight and appreciates its big bid.

“I’m excited. They can see how big this fight is. They can see the money that can be made on this fight and they know obviously how entertaining us guys are,” he said. “We both talk, we’re both exciting. The guys Lopez has fought in the past have not turned around and said, ‘I’m coming to get you! I’m beating you! I’m putting you on you on your ass, I’m taking you to deep water!’ Everyone’s been scared of this kid. Everyone’s been afraid of him. I’ll tell you right now -- I have no fear of this kid. I respect him as a fighter. He’s unified champion. But I’m coming head on to this kid.”

Triller has not yet announced a date or site for the fight, although it is headed for pay-per-view. Kambosos said he couldn’t care less where it takes place.

“They’ve paid big money, they’ll do what they want to do,” Kambosos said. “If they want to do it in Lopez’s backyard, if they want to do it in his house, if they want to do it on the moon, wherever they want to do it, it doesn’t really faze me.

“I’ve taken the hard road. I’ve been overseas the last (six) fights. I’ve fought all over the world. I’m still undefeated. I’m still with that zero. I’m still here. It doesn’t matter. I love being the outsider. I love being the guy that’s coming into somebody’s backyard. I’m a warrior. A warrior has to travel.”

George Kambosos Warns That He Will Embarrass Teofimo Lopez

Unbeaten Australian George Kambosos strongly believes that he will embarrass Teofimo Lopez when they step in the ring in the coming months.

Kambosos, who last year became a mandatory challenger, will face Lopez for the IBF, WBC Franchise, WBA, WBO titles.

The Triller app won a recent purse bid to secure the promotional rights to the fight.

Late Wednesday night, Lopez took to social media to announce a fight date of June 5th in Miami, Florida.

But, he quickly removed the tweet for unknown reasons.

Lopez's stature in the sport skyrocketed in 2020, when he pulled off an upset twelve round unanimous decision over Vasiliy Lomachenko. At the time of their fight, Lomachenko was regarded by many as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

The fight with Kambosos will be his first defense of the unified crown.

Kambosos became the mandatory challenger last year, when he bagged a twelve round decision over former champion Lee Selby in a final eliminator.

Lopez is a big favorite to come away with his hand raised in the contest.

The unbeaten Aussie is not intimated and feels confident that his boxing skills, and a tough mental focus, will lead him to a career-defining victory.

"No one has ever turned round to Teofimo and said, 'I'm coming straight at ya. I don't care what you've done'. They've all been scared of him, I don't know why. He's a young, 23-year-old little kid," Kambosos told The Sun.

"I'm not scared of any man, I saw what Lomachenko did in that fight in the later part, I'm bigger, stronger, faster and more explosive and more violent. Just like Lopez shocked the world, it's going to be very embarrassing come our fight."

Teofimo Lopez predicting 2 million buys for George Kambosos fight on Triller

The fight is viewed as a mismatch by many boxing fans, and it’s not one that they’ll be eager to spend $50-70 to watch on pay-per-view, especially during the pandemic.

“Mark my words, when I fight against George Kambosos on pay-per-view, when we get those numbers up, I guarantee you when we hit, like, two million buys or up, I guarantee you when that comes, all those fighters, all those ‘three queens’ are going to want to fight me for the biggest payday,” Teofimo said to the AK & Barak Show.

Lopez expects to get out of contract with Top Rank

“When I’m released, that’s when I’m going to go up to any of the networks and be, like, ‘I want your fighter, I would like to fight this fighter,’ and we can make that happen,” said Teofimo about his rosy future outlook if/when he gets out of his contract with Top Rank.

Don't know who put 2m buys in his head. Sounds like Arum :OhYes:

Depending on the price, likely $49.99, will probably need more than 300k buys to break even..

"The fight is viewed as a mismatch by many boxing fans, and it’s not one that they’ll be eager to spend $50-70 to watch on pay-per-view, especially during the pandemic."

Boxing fans are a dieing breed really. You cant make no money off of them.

LOMA!!! vs Teofimo averaged at 2.800.00 viewers.
A Keith Thurman vs Josesito Lopez did 2,480,000. So with all the promotions and Lomas great talent and heavy investment in hyping him up this fight only did marginally better than the Thurman fight. So boxing fans and mainstream ones really arent interested in this fight. This all comes down to if this Triller platform is magical or if its just the same old nonsense so the commercial value of this fight is based more or triller than Teo or if that isnt the case then Triller can sign Thurman up for a multimil deal since he has about the same drawing power as Teo apparantly.

Depending on the price, likely $49.99, will probably need more than 300k buys to break even..
Do the PPV companys really take half? seems outrageous that you would need 15+ million in revenue to pay out a 6 million main event.

Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr date: May 29 and June 5 both possible

The Triller Fight Club event is coming, but an exact date hasn’t been announced.

While Teofimo Lopez recently said he’d be fighting George Kambosos Jr on May 29, another date has popped up from another fighter on the card.

Antonio Tarver, who will face Frank Mir on the undercard, said on Instagram the fights will be happening June 5 in Miami. Lopez also said Miami was the likely destination for the show, which will be produced by Triller Fight Club on pay-per-view.

Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) will defend his WBA, IBF, and WBO lightweight titles — and sure, the WBC, why not, who cares — against Kambosos (19-0, 10 KOs), his IBF mandatory challenger. Triller stunned everyone by bidding high on the fight and winning the rights to it in late February, with Matchroom — also previously unaffiliated with either fighter — coming in second and Lopez’s promoters at Top Rank coming in a distant third, which hasn’t sat well with Teofimo.

Either date shapes up well for the currently schedule. If it’s May 29. it caps off what should be a really big month, also featuring Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders on May 8, possibly Devin Haney vs Jorge Linares on May 15, and Jose Ramirez vs Josh Taylor on May 22. If it’s June 5, it kicks off a month that could well include Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua.

According to Boxing Scene, Marlins Park, which belongs to Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins is the leading candidate with a hold placed on the venue for June 5.

In this case the fighters get their exact purses and the promoter takes the profit or loss of the event.

This fight isn't even made yet is it ?
It's not listed as a forthcoming bout on his [Teo's] record.

Well it’s happening, they just need to announce it. It’s either May 29, or June 6.
