Surprised how many actually think Saunders will make it competitive. This will be an easier night than the Smith fight for Canelo.
Saunders doesn't have anything to bother Canelo in this.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - May 2021
Hearn: Saunders To Get Less For This Canelo Fight, But Not Great Deal Of Difference
Eddie Hearn emphasized that the deal isn’t quite done for a Canelo Alvarez-Billy Joe Saunders fight.
Alvarez’s promoter admitted, though, that they’re “very close to finalizing” contracts for Alvarez and Saunders to meet May 1 or May 8 at a venue to be determined. Hearn also acknowledged that Saunders will be paid a lower purse for facing the Mexican superstar in three months than Saunders would’ve earned had he squared off against Alvarez last May 2.
“Not a great deal of difference,” Hearn said regarding Saunders’ purse in an interview with IFL TV posted to its YouTube page Friday. “It is less. I mean, you know, it’s less for everybody, to be honest with you. But again, you know, we’ll see what happens crowd-wise as well.”
The initial Alvarez-Saunders fight for the British southpaw’s WBO super middleweight title was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Hearn is confident they’ll finally fight this May if Alvarez beats mandatory challenger Avni Yildirim on February 27 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
“Not signed,” Hearn said in reference to contracts for an Alvarez-Saunders bout. “So, you know, we’re just working on a few things. But it’s true that that is the plan. I mean, right now we have a, Matchroom have a two-fight deal with Canelo Alvarez. Obviously, the plan is to try and make the second fight Billy Joe Saunders. That’s the reason he’s gone with us. We have a one-fight deal at the moment with DAZN, which is Avni Yildirim. And we’re working on tying up the second fight of that two-fight deal with Matchroom. So, that will be hopefully Billy Joe Saunders.
“Canelo and [trainer] Eddy Reynoso are just completely focused on Avni Yildirim in Miami on February 27th. And we’ll be working behind the scenes to tie everything up with Billy Joe Saunders, make sure he’s a hundred-percent happy. And then, hopefully, we’ll be in a position maybe even for Billy to go out for that fight and, you know, announce very close to that fight. I don’t see any reason to announce that fight before the Avni Yildirim fight, because until he wins or comes through unscathed, then that fight is not happening with Billy Joe Saunders.”
If the heavily favored Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KOs) defeats Turkey’s Yildirim (21-2, 12 KOs), the four-division champion would have an opportunity to add a third 168-pound title to his collection when he opposes Saunders (30-0, 14 KOs). The 30-year-old Alvarez won the WBA “super” and WBC super middleweight crowns when he defeated England’s Callum Smith (27-1, 18 KOs) by unanimous decision December 19 at Alamodome in San Antonio.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
To win BJS will need a stoppage, but he doesn't have the power for a stoppage. Even if BJS nicks a narrow points decision by the fans, Canelo will still win by a wide UD.

canelo will be levels above, if bjs is on his bike then bjs wont throw enough to get the points, if he stands more canelo will beat him at that too
canelo is not only a tank and much stronger than bjs, he's also skillful and very fast

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
I think he'll try something like Dirrell did v Froch and stink the place out
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
Saunders' bike and jabs gotta be main tools for BJS. However, he should score the bout too wide in order to win on points. Canelo is a clear favorite. Probably it will be similar to the Callum Smith bout.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑28 Feb 2021, 03:45 canelo will be levels above, if bjs is on his bike then bjs wont throw enough to get the points, if he stands more canelo will beat him at that too

However I did think that Dirrell beat Froch clearly.
I can't see Alvarez catching up with Saunders in the first half of the fight, it just depends whether Saunders can win those rounds on the run. If he can the second half of the fight will be interesting, however with the intelligent pressure of the Mexican I think BJS will be blowing out of his arse come the championship rounds.

BJS knows what he needs to do.. in the end he’s just there to get a nice payday that will really set him up for life. He’s been after this fight since they were at 160.. we talking 5 years ago.

So did I but I can't see Canelo just chasing him around and getting nowhere,I think when he does trap him he'll punish him.Saunders has been largely inactive for a while now and hasn't had a good performance since Lemiuex, whereas Canelo just appears to be gettinng better with each fight.Coco wrote: ↑28 Feb 2021, 06:44However I did think that Dirrell beat Froch clearly.

After not taking a punch in that fight? He’d be best having no more than a week off and get right back to training, keep sharp.Terminator666 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2021, 08:39 Wonder if this will be another fight date that gets pushed back. Can’t imagine Alvarez fighting again so soon![]()

Yh. He made the Smith fight look so easy. At the end of it, he looked as though he could have fought another 12 rounds, or even fought Yildirim straight after and knocked him out.Terminator666 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2021, 08:39 Wonder if this will be another fight date that gets pushed back. I've just noticed that I had voted for a Saunders decision win, that must have been an accident, I'm very confident Alvarez will win

BJS will get on his bike and lose a 12 round stinker. Then claim he was robbed a la hughie v Parker.

I usually root against Canelo, but he’ll have my full support in this one. Shame because I used to really like BJS when he was coming through, but he’s turned out to be a complete prick.
