mcdonnell-williams economical with the truth
After being told Danny had beaten ALL his fitness personal bests....in training...being also told Danny was in the best condition of his career guarantee he would be able to continue throwing combinations throughout the fight, like they said he was doing very well in sparring, was very surprised in fact shocked by his weigh in weight, even thou Danny and his camp reassured us he was in super physical shape,
We were saddened, not because they told lies, which cost us money. But we really knew if Danny had trained the way they said he had, he would have stopped Skelton within 4-5 rounds, but Danny NEVER even boxed at all, he did sod all for ages, so slow, and Skelton was an embarrassment dancing like a rhino would, and Danny let him do it.
I think Danny Williams's camp bought that 0oxygen tent in an act of desperation, cause Danny won’t train properly. It seems clear, Danny did a few weights sod all else.
But on the other hand, it was an easy fight for both men, and could be seen to have been arranged for a rematch, because no way would any of those boys deserve a title shot..... So disappointed in Danny.

I happen to believe that the pounding that he took in that fight affected his mentality and appetite for the sport.Max Molyneux wrote:Klitschko didn't end nothing, Danny's mentality has ended it for him. If he got into good shape then he'd be physically fine.
It's possible that he knows how far he is from the top and can't motivate himself for these fights relatively small time fights at the tail end of his career.
Either way i don't reckon we'd be seeing the same Danny if he had somehow beaten Vitali.

Danny should do boxing a favour and retire, his lack of dedication is simply disgraceful, you could tell Barry McGuigan was completely disgusted by Williams conditioning and performance. 288 lbs is ridiculous for a guy who started his career at 227.
Skelton doesn't have the skills to showboat and dance around like that, but because Danny turned the size of a house he was able to get away with it. That fight was an embarrassment, zero entertainment value.
Fair play to Skelton, he did what he had to win, and used the rigth tactics, and congratulations to him, he's exceeded most people's expectations for a latecomer to the sport, but that was an appalling fight.
Enzo had another good learning fight, and showed that he has the toughness to come through a hard fight that is going against him and pull out the win. That fight with Hobson really stood him in good stead against Dominguez.

I love these quotes from Danny and Jim:
And the following from Danny himself:
Oh and here's another classic from Jim:
Whaaaaaaat!!In training he has been performing to a level that an athlete who hasn't trained in o2 tents just cannot match. It is now impossible - repeat impossible - for Danny Williams to get tired and believe me I've tried my very best
And the following from Danny himself:
Danny forgot to mention he was eating Mcdonalds, KFC, Pizza, Cream cakes and fish +chips - I wonder if they taste any different at 13000 ft?Williams said: "The tent I used at home, the one I've now brought with me to training camp, fits around my bed. I sleep at 13,000 ft and I am spending 12 hours a day in here, sleeping, relaxing, watching TV, talking on the phone, whatever. Even when I am sleeping I am getting fitter
Oh and here's another classic from Jim:
I bet Jim is cringing - Quotes courtesy of seconds out :)And not only has this brought Danny on to unbelievable levels of physically fitness, but it will psychologically damage Skelton when he reads about this. He knows deep down in his heart that Danny had more stamina than him in the late rounds last time even without all this.
"The gap in stamina will be just massive this time around. I think Skelton will be terrified when he reads this

The level of bollocks spouted prior to this fight has reached a pinnacle of everest like proportions, never mind 13,000 feet, 28,000 more like.
And anyway, since when can you fit a chamber which simulates being at altitude around your bed? It's obvious this oxygen tent was utter shite. An oxygen tent doesn't simulate being at altitude, and the facilities which do are not a bloody plastic tent which fits around your bed.
When athletes train at altitude it takes several weeks before you gain any benefit, and it doesn't work if you sit on your arse eating sackfuls of fondant fancies.
If Jimmy Mac has any sense, he will tell Danny to either shape up or find a new trainer, it's surely damaging his credibility having a fighter slowly turning into the black pavarotti evem if it's enhancing his bank balance. Soon he'll be making his ring entrances with a white scarf and a tuxedo with nessun dorma as his entrance music.

Here blooming Here - on all aspects of the post. Nobody really know the benefits of altitude training, if indeed there are that many benefits. My PhD supervisor is the exercise physiologist to the British Cycling team and he doesn't recommend altitude training, unless they are competing in altitutde.jamesmcdonnell wrote:The level of bollocks spouted prior to this fight has reached a pinnacle of everest like proportions, never mind 13,000 feet, 28,000 more like.

I there are any benefits, the athlete would have to be TRAINING in altitude. Yes, a holiday in the humilayers would improve your fitness - but only if your holiday involves a lot of walking etc. Sitting on your fat arse in the himilayers will not do anything.

Kenyan and Ethiopian runners from high altitudes seem to have the best aerobic capacity though don't they. Most distant runners swear by it, your lungs just have to be more efficient at processing oxygen at altitude. MY ex-gfs origin was the Andes of the South America and her rib cage was far larger than a normal person.stujones wrote:Here blooming Here - on all aspects of the post. I agree with Danny not training (at least none stamina training) will derive zero benefit from altitude. Maybe he though the oxygen tent would do the job for him.

Danny came in as heavy as he did for Skeleton against Vitali so he hasn't been any less motivated since that fight.Shirow wrote:I happen to believe that the pounding that he took in that fight affected his mentality and appetite for the sport.Max Molyneux wrote:Klitschko didn't end nothing, Danny's mentality has ended it for him. Isn't altitude training the same basically as blood doping, or taking EPO? It just increases the levels of haemoglobin in the body, as more red blood cells are produced to cope with the reduced level of oxygen? EPO tricks the body into doing the same thing, and blood doping means just adding extra blood into the body to increase the ability to metabolise oxygen.stujones wrote:Here blooming Here - on all aspects of the post. However, none of this is of any benefit unless the heart muscle is also good and strong.
Danny's going to eat himself into an early grave the way he is going.
Danny DID NOT weigh the same for the Vitali fight, he was a (then) career high 270, but has since then hit a new career high (272) against Audley, and now a farcical 288 against Skelton. He was 21 lbs heavier for Skelton this time round than last.
Only 4 years ago, he weighed 234 against Keith Long, he's now 54 lbs heavier!
Yes, my supervisor doesn't doubt that living in altitude will bring benefits - but thats years of living and training in the conditions. The effects of a say a 8 week training period there though isn't so clear.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Kenyan and Ethiopian runners from high altitudes seem to have the best aerobic capacity though don't they. There have been many studies on this - and also variations such as live high/train low, or live low/train high.... However, results haven't really be conclusion - some show effects, others so next to nothing.

McDonnell and Williams just talk rubbish and tell lies when it comes to Danny training or NOT!
Before the the fight with Vitali, we heard how Williams was in better shape than his previous outing against Tyson, how he was stronger, fitter, faster, had more stamina etc. He then weighs in at 19st 4lbs.
Vitali hammered him to pieces.
For Skelton 2, we hear the same things again, Oxygen tent, Danny cannot get tired, has beaten all of his personal bests in training etc, best condition of his life etc. He weighs in at a diabolical 20st 8lbs.
Since he came in at that weight, I have often wondered what Williams must have been doing to get to that weight? Obviously eating and not doing any exercise, but to what extent must he be eating?
Duek McKenzie summed it up best with the great one-liner about the Mr Kipling cakes.
For Danny Williams though, it's nothing to laugh about at all.

Danny is a self confessed chocaholic, so he probably sat there with a bag full of jumbo size toberlones and curly wurlys.
Strangely, I didn't think Williams looked that grossly overweight, he certainly didn't look 20 stone 8, but his upper body looked huge. I have a feeling that the fitness work may have been neglected and that Danny was hoiking loads of weighs around.
I find it hard to believe his biceps were only 1 inch bigger than skeltons, because dannys arms and shoulders were like tree trunks.
When you think that George Foreman during his comeback, was only weighing around 260, and the fact that he was 6' 5" and a massive guy, Danny scaling 288 seems utterly ludicrous. I do wonder whether he had weights, but there's no way they could have influenced the scales that much unless he can neutron stars inside his testicles.

Danny wears those massive shorts, hard to see how big his legs are. He could have Tony Oakey/Naseem Hamed tree trunks.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Danny is a self confessed chocaholic, so he probably sat there with a bag full of jumbo size toberlones and curly wurlys.

How badly does it reflect upon Audley Harrison though? Danny was just as crap on Saturday as he was against Audley. And yet, somehow, a former kickboxer, widely regarded as one of the least skilled heavyweights in recent memory, was able to outbox Williams comfortably, whilst the supposedly skilled, Olympic gold medalist could do sod all?
