Welterweights: Donald Curry vs Felix "Tito" Trinidad
I am divided on this one.
Donald Curry, circa 1982-85, was one of the best boxers that I have ever seen in terms of boxing technique. He was almost a complete fighter. His weakness was his chin.
Felix "Tito" Trinidad is one of the most sensational power punchers that I have seen in my lifetime. He could be outboxed and dropped early in a fight, but his sheer will and determination makes him dangerous. It's like as the fight progresses, he gets stronger and stronger. He is dangerous when dropped early.
Who wins in this great welterweight fight?

I'd take Curry; he was a way better boxer and he could hit, too. Curry knocks him out at some point. Maybe mid rounds.

I see your point. But, Tito was one of those guys that got stronger as the fight progresses, though. Especially, after a knockdown. How could a mid-rounds stoppage be in Curry's favor?
Re: Welterweights: Donald Curry vs Felix "Tito" Trinidad
Curry's the faster, better boxer, while Trinidad has the greater will to win and bigger punch. I think Curry would be in control for about 4-5 rds until Trinidad began rattling him with power shots. Curry was an excellent fighter, but he didn't deal well with adversity in the ring. Tito would gradually impose his will on the Cobra, before stopping him around the 11th.

Well, I don't see Trinidad getting up in this one. Too bad we'll never know .
Re: Welterweights: Donald Curry vs Felix "Tito" Trinidad
Curry would outbox Tito with his speed and superior display of skills.
Re: Welterweights: Donald Curry vs Felix "Tito" Trinidad
The Cobra would out-box Tito on the outside behind his jabs and combinations to either take a decision or late round stoppage.

That sounds about right. It could happen big time!Seamus wrote: ↑27 Feb 2021, 23:25 Curry's the faster, better boxer, while Trinidad has the greater will to win and bigger punch.
