Re: Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Chris Arreola - Spring 2021?
Andy Ruiz Jr. facing Chris Arreola is a good career move for the former champ (two durable fleshy Californian-Mexican heavyweights with crowd-pleasing fighting styles, which are also fellow PBC stablemates).
It will help Andy Ruiz Jr. to rid himself of ring-rust, get himself back into decent shape and also establish his working relationship with his new trainer.
People will watch the fight, so it'll do well commercially. It'll probably be fairly entertaining, even if a victory fails to enhance Ruiz Jr's reputation.
If the date of this bout is sometime around April, then Ruiz Jr. would have only competed once within 22 months. So it's not surprising to see him make his long-awaited comeback against an opponent of Arreola's ilk.
So on this occasion, I feel Andy deserves a free pass, but if his next outing is against a journeyman or another badly-faded veteran with a big-name, then there'll be genuine cause for concern and merited ridicule.

Ruiz needs to make up for his inactivity with a Ko 3-4.

If ruiz comes out firing he knocks out cris in rd 1. My guess is he takes his time and gets it done in 4
Its a bad fight, arreola shouldn't be fighting anymore. Watch his fight with curtis harper

Ruiz always was a notch above Arreola. If he doesn't win this in very convincing fashion, he definitely should retire.

True. Yet he cleaned Anthony Joshuas clock. Guess they are both pretty overhyped.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑17 Feb 2021, 19:52 ruiz couldnt even put down sergey liakhovichs corpse, when people were going crazy in love with him they totally forgot what type of fighter he's usually been

-Ruiz was pathetic last fight, which was nearly 2 years ago.
-Arreola lost his last fight to a different fat boy nearly 2 years ago.
But if we add them together its a PPV??? anyone who buys this should get kicked in the shins. what price? if its 50 bucks or more then i predict it will do 11 buys, and most of those will be the fighters familys. Fuking hell one of them could be my brother id still probably stream that just out of principle.

Andy Ruiz-Chris Arreola Heavyweight Clash Set For April 24
Andy Ruiz and Chris Arreola finally have a date for their long-discussed showdown.
The intriguing clash of California-based heavyweights will take place April 24 on Fox Sports Pay-Per-View from a location to be determined, multiple sources informed BS.com. The bout has been in discussion for more than a year and has been given clearance to land on the spring schedule.
Ruiz (33-2, 22 KOs) has not fought since watching his unified heavyweight title reign come to a close in a 12-round unanimous decision defeat to Anthony Joshua in their Dec. 2019 rematch in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The loss came six months after Ruiz knocked out Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) in the 7th round of their June 2019 clash at Madison Square Garden in New York City, becoming the first-ever Mexican boxer to win a piece of the heavyweight crown
The 31-year old heavyweight from Imperial, California has since joined forces with red-hot trainer Eddy Reynoso, having regularly trained out of his facility in San Diego while awaiting a fight date. Recent camp images have suggested a slimmer, fitter Ruiz who weighed a fleshy 283 ½ pounds in the loss to Joshua to end his WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight title reign.
Arreola (38-6-1, 33 KOs) has been out of the ring since a spirited 12-round loss to then-unbeaten Adam Kownacki in August 2019 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Their non-stop action-packed slugfest set several Compubox records, including Arreola—who was 38 at the time—setting the all-time heavyweight mark with 1,125 total punches on the night.
Arreola—who turns 40 on March 5—snapped a two-fight win streak in the process. It hasn’t dampened the spirit of the two-time heavyweight title challenger, who trains with renowned cornerman Joe Goossen.
Earlier plans called for Ruiz and Arreola to tentatively collide last spring. The fight was never formally announced by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) due to the initial wave of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Several dates were floated once boxing returned from the pandemic, only for both boxers to go all of 2020 without a fight.
Details on the undercard were still in discussion—according to sources—as this goes to publish. A strong emphasis will be placed on showcasing PBC boxers on the rise and poised to contend for a world title in 2021.

I thought PBC/FOX/Haymon where all about showing boxing for free.
Now they're trying to cash it in.. Making money on anything.

I might, probably will in fact, watch this on you-tube at some point. I wouldn't pay $5 to watch it though.

Is it me or is the boxing output on Fox/Showtime really really poor at the moment?
They’ve loads of good, inactive fighters and are happy to do PPVs that do 100k buys.

Re: Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Chris Arreola - April 24, 2021
Haymon basically has finally ran out of investor money
He blew through 434 million in waddell and reed investment money of which there were lawsuits from investors
Then fox signed up for a 4 year deal of distribution of pbc that kept it alive
Rumors are fox is ending that relationship this year before contract finishes
So what do they have left - eventually the dumb money stops flowing. There is a reset happening in boxer salaries and the amount of money to be made in the sport

Long overdue. Boxers need to be paid far less than what they make. Maybe then they'll fight more than once a year, and one meaningful fight every 5 years.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑02 Mar 2021, 16:35 Haymon basically has finally ran out of investor money

Al made money for his fighters. The business model was a disaster for investors. Eventually you either make money or run out of investors
How they ended up losing money of fury v wilder 2 tells you a lot about the organization

I thought pbc was cooked after the WR money fizzled but Al kept it afloat another 4 years by getting a buy in from fox - tjat speaks to his persuasion skills and the stupidity of networks when it comes to boxing. I always go back to those dazn idiots who though it was possible to have 3mm US monthly boxing subscribers

Only one that was pathetic during that fight was the sprinter Anthony Joshua.

AJ boxed, and won 10+ rounds, nothing pathetic about that. would be an idiotic choice to just stand and brawl after there first fight. The reason he could box so easy, without getting blitzed was because ruiz just a fat shit,, he in an absolute pudding and made it easy for aj just to hit and not get hit.H8Usernames wrote: ↑03 Mar 2021, 04:46Only one that was pathetic during that fight was the sprinter Anthony Joshua.

That fight sucked. Not really AJ’s fault for doing what any normal intelligent boxer would do.gregregegg wrote: ↑03 Mar 2021, 05:38AJ boxed, and won 10+ rounds, nothing pathetic about that. would be an idiotic choice to just stand and brawl after there first fight. This fight won’t suck, but it’s pretty predictable. Ruiz by Ko easy if he’s in shape. KO late if he’s not. Can’t see Arreola winning this as awesome as that would be.
