Imagine Charlo vs Plant for the IBF smw title in May or June and then the winner could fight Canelo in September! The winner of this fight would be a top opponent for Canelo!

Both Charlo and Plant are stable mates, so I wonder if Plant could get a very good deal from Charlo to have a fight? I know that fighting the face of boxing in Canelo is a very big opportunity for Plant, so it could be very hard for Charlo to get a fight vs Plant for the IBF smw title but maybe they could find a lucrative deal.

So you really think Caleb Plant would prefer to accept a smaller payday to face Jermall Charlo than receiving a bigger payday to fight Canelo, with both opponents being high-risk?apollo creed wrote: ↑03 Mar 2021, 07:53 Both Charlo and Plant are stable mates, so I wonder if Plant could get a very good deal from Charlo to have a fight? If Plant is going to lose, he'll inevitably prefer to do so by receiving the bigger payday against the more prestigious opposition.
Plant isn't going to take any unnecessary risks that could scupper his chance to receive a massive payday to face Canelo.
What would you do if you were him?

It's f-cking obvious that Plant will want to get that fat payday from Canelo but as a boxing fan I'd like to see Charlo/Benavidez vs Plant and if it's a clear winner then he'd get Canelo. Imo that winner would be a solid 168lbs opponent for Canelo.
Maybe PBC would make Plant a good offer with a rematch clause added to fight Charlo or maybe Benavidez.

Tbh I want to see Canelo fighting a solid 168 lbs opponent. Callum Smith looked really poor vs Ryder and BJS was staying safe since the Lemieux fight at mw, then he was fighting poor opposition and he looked averege at smw. He just won an easy belt and that's it.
There is no doubt that Canelo is a very skilled and powerful fighter but the current smw era is a weak one. It's not like Canelo is fighting guys like prime Ward, Froch, Kessler, Dirrell or Abraham. Not even the era of prime Badou Jack, George Groves or DeGale.
So that's why as a boxing fan I'd like to see two young undefeated top guys fighting each other and the winner would be a solid champion, not just a belt holder. It's a pity that Benavidez lost his belt so foolishly. It was his ticket to get a Canelo fight.
Now only Plant has that ticket (IBF belt) to get Canelo.

Yeah plant fighting Jermall is rather unlikely. I suspect he'll have another soft touch sometime this summer. With Canelo calling out his name, I doubt Plant takes the risk of losing his belt to someone like Jermall who would most likely beat him.

Plant resume since Uzcategui fight is fkin pathetic. What is even worse, he is not going to take any risks before Canelo paycheck. Hopefully he is going to take savage beating in september for this approach. But Maybe PBC will offer good money for Benavidez or Charlo fight, who knows.

Goodness, wouldn't you have loved to have Alvarez around at 168 in his prime about a decade ago?apollo creed wrote: ↑04 Mar 2021, 07:35 Tbh I want to see Canelo fighting a solid 168 lbs opponent. If charlo can offer him near 20 million then sure he could push for it... Plant is set up to be the last peice in the puzzle for a free agent canelo that has stated he wants to be undisputed. If i was plant i wouldent risk an interim fight, especialy not against anyone decent..

Didn't Golovkin refuse from 2 offers from Charlo? If so, Charlo is better to move up with the perspective to face Canelo and waste no more time. Those are the best fights for Charlo.

Plant isn't fighting anyone other than canelo. He would be a fool to.

I agree that since Uzcategui, he pretty much fought soft opposition. Plant would probably take a beating from Canelo but he would also made good money.Cent0089 wrote: ↑04 Mar 2021, 09:48 Plant resume since Uzcategui fight is fkin pathetic. Canelo vs Froch/kessler would have been something really special.Syntax Error wrote: ↑04 Mar 2021, 11:02Goodness, wouldn't you have loved to have Alvarez around at 168 in his prime about a decade ago?apollo creed wrote: ↑04 Mar 2021, 07:35 Tbh I want to see Canelo fighting a solid 168 lbs opponent. Yup, true. Most probably Plant would just wait for Canelo in September and made loads of money. Maybe he'd take a soft fight until September.gregregegg wrote: ↑04 Mar 2021, 21:14 If charlo can offer him near 20 million then sure he could push for it... Well it's pretty obvious that Plant is gonna fight Canelo but the point I tried to make is that since this is a weak smw era, a hypothetical fight between Plant and Charlo/Benavidez would give a solid opponent for Canelo.
