Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury £200m mega-fight could be pushed back to July
Anthony Joshua’s £200million showdown with Tyson Fury is set to take place on either June 26 or July 3.
Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum claims terms have been agreed between the two fighters and they are now finalising a date.
Saudi Arabia is favourite to host this historic all-British clash for the undisputed world heavyweight title in late June or early July.
Joshua and Fury have agreed to a 50-50 purse split for the first of their two planned showdowns and Arum says the fight contract should be signed "very shortly".
The Top Rank chief told Mirror Fighting : "We're nearly there. As far as I can ascertain, there are no issues separating the two sides. There has been consensus agreement in all issues.
"We hope very shortly that the fight will be signed. Then we will pick the site and we’ll be up and running.
"I'm looking towards late June or early July for the actual fight to take place."
The Saudis are prepared to offer Joshua and Fury $100million or £72m apiece and each fighter could earn over £100m when the broadcast rights are added to the pot.
Joshua holds the WBA, IBF and WBO tiles and Fury the WBC and Ring magazine crowns and the winner will be the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn last month revealed only minor issues were left to agree, including whose name would be printed first on the poster and who would walk to the ring first.
But with those creases ironed out, an announcement is expected imminently.
Saudi Arabia is one of a number of countries interested in hosting the fight but its ability to offer a huge site fee has put it in pole position.
Singapore, Dubai, Qatar, America and China are also keen but Wembley has been ruled out despite the improving coronavirus situation in the UK.

The dawning realisation that taking a healthy, relaxed looking 20 stone, iron-chinned, Russian banana skin lightly could be a very big mistake.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua - June 2021?
I'm unsure of the timings of things with his wife. A miscarriage is a horrible experience for both mother and father. His uncle's illness was obviously serious (he died).
It is unusual to pull out after the weigh in though. Usually an excuse will be found if:
A. You decide you don't fancy the job after seeing your opponent (especially if your camp has been less than optimal)
B. (Following on from the above) The money isn't right risk:reward
C. The testers arrive unexpectedly and you do a bunk
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua - June 2021?
It was Alexander Ustinov. He'd trained for Chisora, who is the better fighter. But they switched fighters short notice, and I do recall rumours that Tyson felt like they'd pulled a fast one on him replacing a 6 foot guy with a guy bigger than himself that had also had a full camp. Ustinov was never all that, but he presented a different set of problems. Regardless, his Uncle did die. I don't think he should have fought.

Interested to know peoples feelings on if this fight will happen. I someone offered even money on betting this fight will happen befor july 30th, would you like those odds? Not throw a cent on it? slap a 10 on it? slap a 1000 on it? slap the house on it? Tell your mates to put there houses on it?
Lot of talk acting like its a basicaly a done deal, but i wouldent bet a cent on it, Egos, promoters that dont get along, LAck of crowds, Furys inactivy, Eddie saying they are waiting on signatures befor him and his team sign... its a mess, i could see it happening any time soon. Even if contracts are signed if they have no venue and no date,.... do they mean anything?

I'm as sceptical as you are - I asked Ruthless for a "never happens" option in the poll a while ago. Despite all the assurances from every man and his dog we still don't have it signed. Can't be easy to get men like Hearn, Arum, Warren and Kinahan to all agree on something i guess.gregregegg wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 21:20 Interested to know peoples feelings on if this fight will happen. Re: Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua - June 2021?
Eddie slated Tyson for needing four signatures, then named three himself...
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua - June 2021?
All this prevarication is just adding to the hype and dragging you further in. The fight is happening.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua - June 2021?
Do enjoy the hype and the build up
would prefer facts and confirmation though
The fight speaks for itself, get it signed get it done get it on,too much waiting about in boxing for the best fights only hurts it

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua - June 2021?
Just listened to an interview from Tyson from earlier today on IFL.
He looks like he’s lost quite a bit of weight - much slimmer facially and he was also quite negative about the AJ fight. He said he won’t sign the contract until he’s got money in his pocket. It may just be more Fury BS but if it is true then it certainly won’t help the fight get made.
It sounds like he’s got some problems happening in the background and also said that he won’t ever fight in the U.K. again.

Totally disagree, looks like he’s got his boxing head on. Will do him good been at Lowe’s bout. People say Lowe is a hanger on, he really isn’t. Best friend.

He did say though that he had some problems in the background. Perhaps he’s realising how many cuts of his purse are being taken or it may simply be the family stuff with his Gran passing away.

He’s got an additional promoter that will take a % and they weren’t able to get the financials together for a late notice December fight.
My only worry from the interview was that he mentioned ‘behind the scenes issues’ at least 3 times.
