What happened to Danny Price?

He had a decent amateur career where he beat Deontay Wilder then went 9-0 as a pro but hasn’t fought since 2013, his Twitter page still says he’s a pro fighter. I can’t say I know a lot about him, any ideas?

Edit. It was a walkover vs Wilder

he complained about getting fights when he was under maloney, then maloney quit and it seems danny didnt really carry on. one of those cases where he just wasnt getting the fights/money he wanted and called it a day i think

the win over wilder was walkover, so they never actually entered the ring vs each other, he did outpoint the russian who flattened dee though

Ah ok, I was just listening to a podcast and Tony Jeffries said Price beat Wilder, I assumed they actually boxed.

They’ve produced a few, Westway. Really good support, too.

Maloney must have been the worst promoter in the uk. I’m yet to read anything good.

Looking at who he shared the ring with as an amateur he definitely should have been matched better as a pro . He was fighting the journeymen you would expect someone with no amateur experience to fight.

9 fights in as a pro he should have been fight for a British title with that kind of amateur talent

Saw that he beat Con Sheehan as an am..............Con went 6-0 but hasnt fought in 4 years, is he another one who packed it in?

Kinda similar to Price, good boxing but not much power

Management issues I believe slowed his career down. He then went to the fury’s for a few fights an disappeared. Must have lost his passion for it.

Just watched Price boxing on YouTube, his amateur pedigree obviously shows as he looked a decent boxer, maybe lacked a bit of a dig but had a decent jab and at 6'6" had the dimensions to be awkward. Shame he quit, his twitter page is active so not sure why he still refers to himself a pro fighter but now aged 35 with almost 8 years out the ring so I guess thats him done.

Yes I must admit I've never really heard great things about Maloney. Tony Jeffries said Maloney had him over when he was his promotor, his fight with Banbula was his first 8 rounder and Jeffries was going to pull out with an injury as he didn't think he could do 8 rounds with it. Maloney basically begged him to fight and apparently said if he made it a six rounder would he fight. Jeffries agreed so fought, then at the end of the 6th round walked to the ref to put his hand up and the ref said no it's an 8 rounder and to go back to his corner. Jeffries said he had emptied the tank in the 6th round thinking it was over and got battered in the last two rounds and ended up with a draw.

Terrible. I went to a few of his shows where everything was on a show string. I used to go to MMA shows too where everything was kitted out so it was pathetic in comparison.

Found a tweet that Price answered when asked why he retired, his reply was ...

“A lot of different reasons mate. Money a big factor. Had a baby on the way and needed to make sure the family was supported!”
