Random one but anyone know why Bruno and Herbie Hide never fought? They were around the same time and you would think it would have been an easy and huge British fight to make especially when Hide was WBO champion.

Timings were not right. Herbie beat Bentt for the WBO in 94 and got beat by Bowe in 95. He then had to rebuild by which time Frank was retired. Herbie wasn't ready before 94.

No. Hide could easily have fought Bruno but was too scared to (Akinwande ditto). The entire Sky broadcast of Hide vs Bentt is on YouTube. Bruno is at the fight and very keen on fighting Hide. Sky are keen on it. But when pressed on the subject in the post fight interview Hide could not articulate a single valid reason as to why he wouldn't engage in a lucrative defence against Britain's most famous and popular heavyweight. Just to put this into context: Herbie Hide was an unknown, had just won an off-brand belt and desperately needed exposure, and a credibility boost. Fighting Bruno would have been the biggest payday of his life. He wouldn't do it.

Before anyone says, 'But he fought Bowe!' Bowe was his mandatory. Just like Klitschko was his mandatory.

Twice in his life Hide fought real opponents, and both times he was forced to do it.

The disciplined version of Hide who fought Bent, might have had a reasonable chance of outspeeding Bruno and getting to him in the middle rounds. The versions who fought Bowe and Klitschko, not so much. Both training camps were a shambles. He seemed in the grips of anxiety attacks in most of the Bowe build up.

Get real, there are no examples of Hide performing such a feat against a world class opponent. None! He got knocked down heavily by a Bowe punch that literally didn't land, and KOd by a cuffing Klitschko jab. No training camp could fix his chin or heart.

Hide was fighting a brain-damaged man in a daze against Bentt and still panicked and actually looked on the verge of unravelling when the half-cadaver staged a weak rally in the mid rounds. Bruno in the 90s was very strong and very aggressive and clearly fancied his chances against chinny weakling Herbie.

Watched a very good Scott Welch interview a while back. Those guys were best friends but Welch and Barry Hearn both said Hide was bit of a bully and nasty piece of work especially in sparring.

Incredibly poor, a production thrown together for about 100 quid I think, with a clueless out of his depth Paul Dempsey droning on in the background -complete shambles typical of Sky’s boxing production values overall

As others have said they seemed to miss chunks out of Brunos career, mainly cobbled together clips. I was expecting the part where he met Tyson at the end to be much more than it was, a bit of an anti-climax.

Take on 5 different heavyweights, 2 rounds each, back to back. Fighters I would have him take on would be: Shannon Briggs, Riddick Bowe, David Tua, Vitaly Klitschko, and Ike Ibeabuchi.

That would be a cracking idea, but it would need to be two rounds each.

It would generate masses of nostalgic interest and the sweetener would be to have Holyfield at ringside.

A good idea, but instead of that lets have Herbie Hide fight 5 decent HWs who all knock him out on the same night
