R.I.P champ.

The word legend is often overused but not in this case.

One of the all time greats taken far to young.

God bless Marvin

RIP. He had tonnes of fans. He was boxing. He wore the same burgundy robe on his debut as he did v Sugar Ray. Same weight for 20 years all year round. Scraped his way to the top and stayed there. Most consistent fighter ever. Will be sadly missed

Shocked.

An absolute superstar, the fighters fighter. Earned his title shots the hard way and worked his arse off to stay champion. Totally respected by anyone who isn't a moron.

Sad news but leaves a great legacy. RIP.

Shocking news that.

An absolute complete box/fighter, seemingly indestructible, who lived, breathed and ate the sport. A genuine ATG.

Joe Frazier once told Marvin that he had three strikes against him: he was black, a southpaw and he was good. Marvin paid his dues to win the undisputed world middleweight title and what a champion he turned out to be. He bossed the division for seven years against the very best. Then, he had the guts to walk away after the Sugar Ray Leonard shocker in April 1987, when he got his tactics all wrong. Leonard wound up humiliating himself against the likes of Terry Norris and Hector Camacho. Hagler was never humiliated as a fighter. His legacy is safe, his legacy gets better and better.
