if fury vs AJ lands stateside...
would you travel? I know its business, but as a brit it doesn't half leave a sour taste. how would you chaps feel about it?
Re: if fury vs AJ lands stateside...
Normally I would be annoyed, but given the high chance of no big crowds allowed in London in June , a stadium fight in the UK just doesn’t make sense at all from a business point of view.

Isn’t the Middle East the top contender for this?

No travelling allowed right now unless you pay for 10 nights in a UK hotel upon return?

It will be in the middle east, probably the head choppers will offer a massive site fee, which without full crowds is the only way this fight will happen.
Re: if fury vs AJ lands stateside...
This fight belongs in Wembley in front of a Sold out crowd of 80,000 or more. That's the setting and the atmosphere it deserves. Surely there would be money in having it there.
The vaccine is going round. Surely by later this year a crowd like this will be possible again.

Punters at the gate are nowhere near as important as ppv sales for this one I’d have thought.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 19:28 It will be in the middle east, probably the head choppers will offer a massive site fee, which without full crowds is the only way this fight will happen.
Even if 90k at Wembley pay an average of £200 each which is probably a high estimate that only raises £18m.
1.5m ppv buys at £40 raises £60m, I could be way out with those figures of course but this fight will have an unprecedented level of interest it would seem.
A fight in Saudi Arabia goes out at absolutely Saturday night prime time in the uk, early enough for teenagers to watch it - for me it’s a perfect storm of ppv heaven for Eddie Bob and Frank

plus can they hold 90k together in covid times?
Re: if fury vs AJ lands stateside...
I mean there's a vaccine. How much longer is this "In covid times" sh*t supposed to be? If we're still on lockdown by the Holidays this year or this time next year, we all might as well just kill ourselves because they're never gonna give us our lives back.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 19:50dont underestimate those saudi oil money site feesgilgamesh wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 19:31 This fight belongs in Wembley in front of a Sold out crowd of 80,000 or more. Cramming 90k people in together to watch two ants fight isn’t worth the risk with Covid still around. Send them off to Saudi I say ! I’llml watch on the comfort of my sofa.
Re: if fury vs AJ lands stateside...
It's perfectly worth the risk. There's a vaccine now. Covid isn't gonna go on forever. It should be basically under control by late this Summer I would think. If not then what the f*ck good is the vaccine? And what is this really all about?high tower 1 wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 22:50 Cramming 90k people in together to watch two ants fight isn’t worth the risk with Covid still around. Re: if fury vs AJ lands stateside...
when do non- old people get the vaccine? theyve got some hierarchy dont they. not everyone gets it right away.
likely most of the crowd would be younger chavs, not old ppl or health care workers who are prioritized. the fight would just be a matter of months away so there will prob be tons of ppl who havent gotten it
although like i said, no long term testing done, i dunno man....

I’d rather be cautious this year to make sure it’s completely gone and then live life normally rather than risk a mutated strain being unleashed before everyone is vaccinated and this rumbles on for another year.gilgamesh wrote: ↑16 Mar 2021, 00:01It's perfectly worth the risk. Are people wearing masks whenever they go out in the UK, or are there still a load of people who refuse to?
Things are pretty much continuing as normal in Japan, but everyone just slapped a mask on whenever they left the house from the very start. It wasn't a big deal to do so at all (because there is a culture of mask wearing when people are sick out here anyway).
Tokyo 2020 Olympic construction started again a few weeks back near my apartment. Though likely it is going to be held with only the Japanese in attendance (and some dignitaries and athlete support). They will probably do what they have been doing in cinemas. One seat left free between each attendee.
Though this obviously halves capacity. But in an open air stadium (like Wembley) with people wearing masks and disinfecting their hands on entry it should be easily doable, especially for the second fight of the deal late in 2021.
Oh and the UK is well ahead of Japan in terms of vaccinating the populace. But then again Japan has no where near the infection rate of the UK.

You are seriously underestimating the gate that big fights in America can make.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 19:43Punters at the gate are nowhere near as important as ppv sales for this one I’d have thought.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 19:28 It will be in the middle east, probably the head choppers will offer a massive site fee, which without full crowds is the only way this fight will happen.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao gate was over $70m from just over 16k ticket sales.

In the States they will pay $20K for 2,000 seats. That’s $40M right off the bat. Though that’s Mayweather, PAC or Oscar DLH stuff.

You’d need your head examined to pay that muchcoghaugen11 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2021, 07:45 In the States they will pay $20K for 2,000 seats. That’s $40M right off the bat. Though that’s Mayweather, PAC or Oscar DLH stuff.

It’s all relative though. If you’ve got 8 figures in the bank or an extremely profitable company where you could put a couple of tickets through expenses.high tower 1 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2021, 07:56You’d need your head examined to pay that muchcoghaugen11 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2021, 07:45 In the States they will pay $20K for 2,000 seats. There obviously aren’t many people in the position but you don’t need many to drive some massive numbers.
