Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
Efe Ajagba is finally back in the ring April 10th on the undercard of the Smith/Vlasov WBO LtHW title match.
No opponent named as of yet.
I think this is a pivitol fight for Efe. It's been 7 months since he's fought and I'm hoping he has been busy honing some skills in the meantime. I still like him, but as we know, his last several efforts have been underwhelming.

Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
He's about at the sink or swim stage of his career. He's fought a lot of building up fights. At a certain point you gotta sh*t or get off the pot.
Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
Ronnie Shields said Efe career has stalled, I agree with him. But that should not happen with Top rank

Efe stalled because he he learnt he couldn’t just bang overtime out then got hurt at about D level.... so that’s hopefully a good stall, to learn hopefuly
Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
Yup! That's why I think this fight is pivitol for him. It'll give us direction moving forward as to where he's heading.gregregegg wrote: ↑16 Mar 2021, 17:04 Efe stalled because he he learnt he couldn’t just bang overtime out then got hurt at about D level.... so that’s hopefully a good stall, to learn hopefuly

TBH i don't think Efe will even learn to fight much different ... Take a punch and give back two is his thingoogiebe wrote: ↑16 Mar 2021, 17:10Yup! That's why I think this fight is pivitol for him. Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
I wonder if Efe Ajagba is going to be regarded as the second coming of Luis “King Kong” Ortiz?
They’ll build and allegedly “fearsome” reputation, by matching him against journeymen, with his handlers boldly proclaiming that his rivals are “far too scared” to fight him.
Mainstream casuals will inevitably buy into the hype, arguing that “it’s not his fault he’s forced to face bums, because everyone is ducking him!”
And when he does eventually fight someone half-decent, the bubble will burst , resulting in him suffering an embarrassingly one-side loss, to such an extreme that he’ll inevitably be regarded as merely as a badly-exposed hype job (much akin to Michael Grant).
Of course, I want to be wrong, since the sport of boxing flourishes whenever the heavyweight division is packed with talent, which means I do actually want him to succeed.
Unfortunately though, Ajagba’s career trajectory suggests that I’m not, because the Nigerian has looked very ordinary indeed within the last two years (since his bout against the over-the-hill totally shot near 47 year old Amir Mansour).

Or will you view the highlights a few days later?
Let’s face it, Ajagba isn’t going to be facing anyone decent at such short notice, is he?
And will Efe (or fight fans in general) learn anything from him engaging in another mismatch?
Ajagba has been a pro for almost four years, yet his calibre of opposition, coupled with his performances, have become stagnant.

If you enjoy watching pointless mismatches, then that’s your prerogative. I won’t criticise you for this.
But I am intrigued to know whether your opinion about Ajagba is similar to mine.

i agree efe's not been impressive for a while, that said i think the same about filly hrgovic and so many dudes still jizz to him. to me they are actually strikingly similar, both in career path and physique and strengths and flaws
the bright side for efe is that he's still young and the division isnt very deep, even if he doesnt improve on these limitations he'll still probably be up there around the top 20, same for filly

Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
In my defence, as early as March 2019, I successfully predicted that any bout between Golovkin and Szeremeta would be a disgraceful mismatch.
And when GGG eventually faced Szeremeta late December 2020, this led to my long-term prediction finally coming to fruition.
It’s fair to say that I was probably the first person to convey to the forum the severity of this mismatch.
Interestingly though, Golovkin’s fans didn’t seem too bothered about the calibre of opponent GGG was facing when rumours were circulating about the likelihood of Gennadiy sharing the ring with Szeremeta.
Anyway, back on topic… are you pleased about the way in which Ajagba’s career is progressing, after you prematurely jumped on his hype-train, without even requiring the need to see him face anyone half-decent?
oogiebe wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 12:10Ajagba is far from "stiff" as you say, and actually moves quite smoothly. He will fill out to around 240-250 over time. How you can say he has a leaky defense is remarkable, as he hasn't had the chance to show what, if any defensive issues he may have. Perhaps you should actually watch his fights and see for yourself. Oh, and his freakish 88" reach with the power he possesses is already making him formidable. I consider him the number one HW prospect.

You're not seriously criticising me for discussing old posts are you, especially considering you cast the first stone?

Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
Another poster posted your old post. Not me. I've already been criticizing Efe for quite some time. My assessment of him TWO YEARS AGO, was and is still fair for that time. He's not gotten any better since. I've been open about that all along the way. Why do you go down this road so much? Are you that sensitive and fragile? Are you still stinging over your Dychko support? Hell, I had Tye Fields on my watch list years ago. Doesn't bother me in the least to be wrong once in a while. But for you it's the end of times. Carry on young man.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑17 Mar 2021, 12:23Does that mean I should be equally flattered about you recalling me accurately predicting the GGG-Szeremeta mismatch two years ago?oogiebe wrote: ↑17 Mar 2021, 10:44Wow! Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
What did I actually write? What were my precise words?
Not really, you still seem to harbour a faint glimmer of hope about his future potential.
In hindsight, would you agree that my assessment of Ajagba two years ago was far more accurate than yours?
He's regressed.
The topic of this thread is Efe Ajagba.
You decided to go off-topic and discuss my two-year old sentiments about the GGG-Szeremeta mismatch, without provocation.
And I responded by quoting your words about Efe Ajagba.
Who is more at fault here?
How many times do you really need to go off-topic?
That's pretty obvious!
