He's retired!!

“Boxing has been great. I go down in history as one of the only heavyweights to retire undefeated,” he proclaimed. “And the first-ever undefeated heavyweight to retire with a one hundred percent KO ratio with at least 15 wins.

“WBA ranked. IBF ranked. My haters, I know I made you all happy. To my supporters, I’m sorry I let you all down. The haters won. You all did that,” he concluded.

 what a knob

He is now part of an eclectic list that goes from the great Rocky Marciano all the way down to the great (at Cricket) Freddie Flintoff.

Why would he retire when he was planning on accepting the Allen fight, a Stiverne fight and has called out others lately? His contract with King must be worse than we thought. What an odd way to end an odd career.

Christopher Lovejoy will be missed.

Now that he's retired, the WBA will probably include him in their next their next set of top-15 heavyweight ratings.

He’s already 36..

When he does decide to come back, WBA will have a ranking in the top 15 waiting for him.

We'll never know for sure if he could have beaten Joshua or Fury ... or Dave Allen.

But I think I might hazard a guess. :D

Itmight be amusing to know what is average period of time between the day people first became aware of his existence and the day they learned of his retirement ... and how many fights he had in between.

I, like most on here, first became aware of him in September 2018 when he was first ranked by the WBA at 14-0 and 2.5 years into his storied career. Since then he's had 5 fights, 4 wins within 1 round and 1 win within 3. Only one of these fights came with the past 21 months, and even that one was 13 months ago. All in Tijuana against opponents with a combined record of 23-89-10.

Fair play Josh but I doubt that is representative of the average. :TU:

I learned of his existence @ about 8.35pm reading this thread, and his retirement 9 minutes later when I got to page 2.

The record is 9 mins. Anybody beat that?

The guy shows up with $8000 to buy out his contract? Then King wanted $15000? A scum bag right to the bitter end. It is beyond me why anyone would sign a contract with DKP.
From what i understand king pays in cash which is very enticing upfront

He also demands the fighter not bring a lawyer when you sign

I’ve just watched a video of Christopher Lovejoy claiming he’s planning to compete on a Matchroom fight card in the UK during the summer, after his contract with Don Ling expires on the 4th May, with the intention of facing Alen Babic or Martin Bakole.

I wouldn’t rate the American’s chances of beating either of those guys.

Could this be him and Dave Allen given they were scheduled to fight fairly recently and have both since retired?

It's basically the oldest trick in the book. It's effective no matter the situation. IIRC King used the cash trick on Rahman even though he probably ended up making less money. In my experience if you present someone with a figure it won't be as effective as presenting them with cash. I learnt from a friend when going to buy cars or parts etc that if I flashed cash logic sometimes went out the window.

If king says

Here is a contract saying i paid you 500k and there is 800k cash in the briefcase....

If you buy anything from small businesses or contractors etc always offer a lower cash price and see what happens

He's also wonderfully gifted at race baiting black fighters to get them to sign for him.
