That's true ,,,, but if he takes this fight, that tells public Efe is far away from being taken seriously as heavyweight contender.
With Ronnie shilds team, he was expecting him to be ready by end of 2021 or early 2022 for title fight. Let's say covid 19 has set him back for ONE YEAR, still the way he is promoted, i don't think we see him ready by end 2022 or early 2023
not so long since ajagbe was the guy to beat AJ![]()
I think Ajagba can beat 70% of fighters in Top 20 today. The new team just killing his potential. Even Ajagba Losing a fight to ranked fighter is better, but He don't need this kind of fight at all. It brings down his confidence level only .

Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
Ajagba is 6'6 about 242 and 26 years old with a record of 14-0 [11 KO's]
Howard is 6'3 about 210 and 40 years old with a record of 15-4 [12 KO's]
Physically Howard looks good.
Way Sanchez took him out suggests the punch resistance isn't what it once was.
Ajagba is on a roll, the mid weight section of the Heavyweight division can be exciting and here's a chance to put himself among the players.

This fight does nothing for him. If he blasts him out, well, he should have. If he has any kind of struggle, then more doubts arise.Evander wrote: ↑18 Mar 2021, 22:40 Ajagba is 6'6 about 242 and 26 years old with a record of 14-0 [11 KO's]

Is Ajagba skilled, does he have a good team behind him ?

Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
My concern is the downward trajectory of the calibre of opposition Ajagba is continuously “staying busy” against.
Including the Howard fight, Efe’s last four opponents are worse than some of the guys he fought earlier on in his career.
And there’s no excuse for that!
I’m not being funny, but if Ajagba engages in another mismatch after the Howard fight, then I’ll regard him as the second coming of Christopher Lovejoy.
If you think I’m being harsh, then let’s consider the facts...
Efe Ajagba is facing an opponent that’s on the cusp of turning 41 years of age, a small cruiserweight (borderline 175lb-er) that’s suffered three KO losses during the five bouts he’s competed in within the last 3½ years.
You’ve got to come up with all sorts of J.K. Rowling childhood fictional fantasy śhít to justify Ajagba fighting someone like Howard.
Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
It's not like that ... He is still 26, most large heavyweight bloom at early 30s and fully mature around mid 30s
Btw Ajagba will be more in spotlight, because he will be a US citizen much before that.

Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
Efe Ajagba is on the cusp of celebrating his four-year anniversary competing in the pro ranks.
However, if we include the impending Howard bout, then his last four opponents are weaker than the guys he was facing roughly two years prior.
And even if we ignored his resume and used the proverbial eyeball test, the Nigerian was decked by Kiladze, almost taken the distance against the appalling Cojanu and also looked deeply unimpressive during his most recent outing, when he scored a lacklustre decision victory over the journeyman Jonathan Rice.
Efe Ajagba’s next opponent is on the cusp of turning 41 years of age, is also a small cruiserweight (borderline 175lb-er) that’s suffered three KO losses during the five bouts he’s competed in within the last 3½ years.
Efe Ajagba’s career path is currently on an undeniably obvious downward trajectory.
I’m not suggesting it’s categorically impossible for him to turn the situation around and improve, but based on what we’ve seen over the last couple of years, it’s clear he’s actually regressing.

He wasn't struggling and there was no drama in these fights. there wasn't a nick on ajagba's face
His opponents took heavy punishment, apart from Johny Rice who was running and fighting backward.

Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
I'll watch the fight.
Hopefully it won't drag on.
My thoughts two years ago were that he had great potential, the right size for the current crop of top guys, and some power.
The lack of confidence from his team/management in making this and his last two fights is justified after the Mansour debacle.
I just see him now as a big guy having his record padded out until an undeserved title chance cash out. Maybe I'm wrong.

Re: Efe Ajagba: April 10th.
He picked up boxing only 10 years ago and fought 34 rounds as an amateur
Hes 26 supposedly
Hes fought 50 pro rounds
It isnt a lot. If he is 26 there is time. If hes moved to fight a guy with more experience he will lose like seth Mitchell did because he needs to think before throwing still - its evident

Born and raised in Ughelli Delta State, Nigeria, Efe Ajagba began boxing in 2011 at the age of seventeen and quickly discovered his craft on this way to a 41-2 (30 KOs) amateur record.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑19 Mar 2021, 13:59He picked up boxing only 10 years ago and fought 34 rounds as an amateur...
How far had Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua's career progressed a decade after they took up the sport of boxing in 2005 and 2007, respectively?
And also, if Efe Ajagba is just a young raw novice learning his trade, then why has the calibre of his opposition gradually declined over the last four or five bouts?

Let's not forget that Efe Ajagba has been competing in the pro ranks for almost four years, but you could easily argue that he's still mixing with the same calibre of opposition he was matched against in 2018.
Apart from Filip Hrgovic, I can't think of any active heavily-hyped prospects competing as a pro since 2017 (or earlier) that are still engaging in outrageously horrendous mismatches.
The Nigerian's career is progressing at a speed that's slower than an iceberg!

he also went 34 rounds with them (and lost 5 or 6), thats sub par, id expect a hyped 26 year old prospect known as a banger to get that done a lot quicker than that, id guess hrgovic would knock those last 4 in a combined <8 rounds, same with DDD probably and neither would lose a round along the way...
Dont get me wrong, he is decent, and is the build and has the athleticism to improve, but right now he is not very good.
