Frank W and Queensberry Promotions will stage back-to-back nights of boxing on BT Sport to ease the lockdown blues for fans.

The Hall of Fame promoter’s groundbreaking events will take place on Friday March 26 and Saturday March 27 at London’s Copperbox Arena.

They include a stack of title fights that will keep fans on the edge of their seats from beginning to end.

Among the stars in action are British and Commonwealth Bantamweight Champion Brad Foster, Scotland’s first World amateur champion Willy Hutchinson and challenger for the British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight titles Sam Maxwell.

Warren said: “We wanted to do something a little different and two nights of live boxing on BT Sport is just that.

“The matches are top class, they will deliver excitement, knockouts, thrillers and I bet there are one or two upsets.”

On the opening night, Gloucester’s stylish Akeem Ennis-Brown (14-0, 1 KO) makes the first defence of his Super-Lightweight titles against heavy-handed Queensberry man Maxwell (14-0, 11KOs).

Lichfield’s Foster (13-0-2, 5 KOs) hopes to take another step towards a World title challenge as he tackles Spanish champion Alvaro Rodriguez (10-3-1, 1KO) for the vacant IBF International Super-Bantamweight title.

Midlander Danny Ball (9-0-1, 4KOs) makes the first defence of his WBC International Silver Welterweight championship he won against Mason Cartwright in October 2019 against Walthamstow’s Sam Gilley (11-0, 5 KOs).

Two of British boxing’s fastest emerging talents are also in action on Night One as Super-Bantamweight sensation Dennis McCann (8-0, 5KOs) clashes with Mexico’s Luis Moreno (9-1, 6KOs) over eight rounds and Heavyweight David Adeleye (4-0, 4 KOs) boxes a six rounder.

The drama continues 24 hours later with a double dose of British and Commonwealth title action.

Sheffield based Scot Hutchinson (13-0, 9 KOs) will meet Halesowen’s Lennox Clarke (19-1-1, 7 KOs) for the vacant Super-Middleweight belts.

Swansea’s Chris Jenkins (22-3-3, 8 KOs) risks his Welterweight titles against Nottingham’s unbeaten Ekow Essuman (14-0, 5 KOs).

Peacock product Louie Lynn (8-0, 7 KOs) contests the WBC International Silver Featherweight Championship against Spain’s Sebastien Perez (12-1, 2 KOs).

Former Commonwealth Heavyweight champion Nathan Gorman (17-1, 11 KOs) has a ten-rounder against Croatian born German Kristijan Krstacic (18-2, 15 KOs).

“In each of the British and Commonwealth title fights you can make a big case for both men winning. They are pick ‘em fights and what TV viewers want,” says Warren.

“It is such a shame that fans will not be there and the sooner they’re back in arenas the better, but these cards will whet the appetite for when they are allowed in.”

Also scheduled to box on the March 27 show are Lightweight Mark Chamberlain (7-0, 4KOs) and Super-Lightweight Eithan James (4-0) who both have six rounders. Super-Bantamweight Umar Khan and 6ft 6in Cruiserweight Stephen Adentan make their debuts.

On the previous evening Irish Middleweight pair Jason Harty and Edward Donovan make their professional bows.

Sam Maxwell Hires New Trainer Ahead Of Ennis-Brown Clash

Sam Maxwell has teamed up with a new trainer ahead of his career-biggest fight to date.

The WBO European champion at super-lightweight returns to the ring in London next month, exclusively live on BT Sport.

Maxwell won bronze at the Commonwealth Games back in 2014 and is unbeaten in 14 fights since turning professional.

The 32-year-old will challenge for the British and Commonwealth titles on March 26 at the Copper Box Arena in Hackney Wick.

Maxwell will have the current custodian of the belts, Akeem Ennis-Brown, in the opposite corner on the night, but he will have a new voice in his own corner on fight night after parting ways with Danny Vaughan and teaming up with Manchester-based trainer Steve Maylett.

“I’m excited about teaming up with Steve Maylett [at The Finest gym] for my next fight,” Maxwell wrote on social media when confirming the news.

Maylett is best known as the head trainer of former WBO world lightweight king Terry Flanagan and it is understood that the blessing of Vaughan was given to Maxwell upon the move.

“Danny Vaughan isn’t available to coach me at the moment but is more than happy with the arrangement and rates Steve as one of the best coaches about.”

Ennis-Brown (14-0, 1 KO) is from Gloucester and has previously held the IBF European championship in the 10-stone division. He was last in action in September last year, during the pandemic, when he won the aforementioned belts against Philip Bowes, while ‘Super’ Sam defeated Joe Hughes via unanimous decision to make the second defence of his belt in August last year.

Vaughan was also absent from the corner earlier this month as his fighter Sean McComb turned his back and was stopped inside seven rounds at the Bolton Whites Hotel, exclusively live on ESPN + and iFL TV, by Gavin Gwynne for the vacant Commonwealth lightweight title.

“I have always had a good relationship with Steve, who has known me from when I was an amateur,” Maxwell added. “I had already been training well for several weeks but the start of this week was the time to go to work and do what I have to do to win them belts.”

Maxwell’s challenge of Ennis-Brown forms part of the first card of a doubleheader being hosted by promoter allegedly at the venue in the capital.

Danny Ball defends the WBC International Silver welterweight title against Sam Gilley, while superstar young bantamweight Dennis McCann sees action against once-defeated Luis Moreno and outright British super-bantamweight champion Brad Foster moves into international class when he meets Alvaro Rodriguez for the vacant IBF International title.

Zach Parker, the WBO’s number one super-middleweight contender who is the mandatory challenger for world champion Billy Joe Saunders, makes his debut under the Queensberry Promotions banner after recently inking a deal with Hall of Fame promoter Warren, while David Adeleye fights for the fifth time and there are a pair of debut outings for Jason Harty and Edward Donovan.

Sam Maxwell: I'll Deal With Ennis-Brown, Then Deal With Ohara Davies!

SAM MAXWELL has branded arch rival Akeem Ennis-Brown; “Nasty and weird.”

The Liverpool man gets his chance to have the final word when he challenges for Ennis-Brown’s British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight titles on Friday March 26, live on BT Sport.

Maxwell (14-0, 11 KOs) believes the Gloucester man has been encouraged to wind him up by trash talking Ohara Davies.

Ennis-Brown (14-0, 1 KO) who will be making his first defence of the titles he won by defeating Philip Bowes last September has been sparring with Davies ahead of the crucial challenge.

Maxwell said: “Akeem is probably getting his advice from Ohara, they’re just two fools. I will deal with him and then I will deal with Ohara.

“Sometimes Akeem is respectful, but sometimes goes the Ohara route and is disrespectful. It’s nasty and weird.

“I’m ready for his mind games where he’s trying to get any edge he can. I’m more mature and wont let him get in my head.

“He keeps calling me ‘son’ like he’s my Dad, but I respect him and I’m leaving no stone unturned in the gym.

“Frank has delivered this title shot and I am going to give it my all and become champion.”

Former GB amateur star Maxwell has moved to new trainer Steve Maylett, a switch that he believes will pay dividends now and in the future.

Sam, 32, added: “Steve has taken me on at late notice, but we have bonded so well. It’s a great team and I feel part of them.

“It wasn’t ideal to start, but I am more than happy and it’s starting to pay off.

“It’s short notice so Steve isn’t changing too much, but there are little things that will pay off.

“I think I can knock Akeem out. Steve has been saying I don’t need to put power in my shots because it’s there.

“I carry my power and he has something to worry about from round one to 12. Akeem doesn’t have the same thunderous power as me. Taking a lot will damage him as well.”

Although Maxwell dismisses Ennis-Brown’s crass chat and believes he’ll get the KO win, the challenger does have some praise for the champion.

“Maybe he has had to take more gambles than me as a pro. He hadn’t done it as an amateur and perhaps had to take harder fights to get his shot,” he said.

“Akeem has the better resume than me. He has had to have hard fights and come through them.

“He is really good at what he does. He throws a lot of shots, is very fit, unorthodox and awkward. He gets people to fight his fight.

“The KO stats might be a little misleading, but that doesn’t hide the fact that I punch harder than him and the power is with me.

“But, at this level anyone can punch. He will hit hard and I respect his power, but the edge is with me in that department.”

Ennis-Brown deserved the win over Bowes last time out but it was a sh1t fight and his accuracy was horrendous tbh, he's a sharp boxer though with a good engine and no power, Maxwell for his part has been bang average since turning pro after a stellar amateur career, the fight with Sediri was insane, he did put in a career best showing against Hughes in his last fight and is maybe starting to get to grips with the pro ranks, i think he beats Ennis-Brown here, probably by decision

Friday’s planned fight between Akeem Ennis Brown and Sam Maxwell has unfortunately been postponed after Brown suffered an injury in training.

The man known as ‘Riiddy Riiddy Riival” was due to defend his British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles against Maxwell in a clash of unbeaten fighters, but the bout will now be unable to take place this week.

Friday’s Queensberry Promotions event at the Copper Box Arena will still see undefeated Sam Gilley challenge Danny Ball for the WBC International Silver welterweight title, while rising star Dennis McCann is back in action, as he takes on Luis Moreno.

Danny Ball vs Sam Gilley isn’t too dissimilar in levels to the Rea/Cutler fight that was on Facebook on Saturday.

Foster/Parker/McCann are all in nothing fights and Adelaye has another easy one.

This is only their second show of the year and both have been poor.

Yeah it’s strange but injuries happen sometimes. They just seemingly happen more on FW shows than others.

I’ve said before that they should have a ‘reserve’ lined up in case something like this happens. Put someone like Joe Hughes in an 8 rounder and then draft him if someone does pull out so they can still have a fairly reasonable main event.

I know Covid makes thing tricky but surely they could have found a decent replacement fighter that could have made weight and been tested in time for Friday night.

Eddie managed to get someone in for Arroyo on a couple of days notice when JCM damaged his hand a couple of days before the fight.
