Gonzalez won 116-112 on my card. He pressed the action, scored more, didn't look bothered by Estrada, while hurt Estrada on a couple of occasions. Choco won a huge early-middle part of the fight and finished stronger.

Even if he did score that round correctly, he would have still had it 116-112..

Some of the other rounds like rd10, he scored the other way around.

Eddie Hearn slams “terrible” scorecard in Juan Francisco Estrada-Chocolatito Gonzalez fight

“When I got in the ring, it was like 115-113,” Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn told Fino Boxing. “I thought 117-111 is terrible. I thought Chocolatito won the fight in the last round, so I thought it was all square going into the last.

“But there were so many close rounds. So 115-113 either way, you can’t really argue. I think two judges had it 115-113. But 117-111, that kind of spoils it and that enhances people saying, ‘Oh, it’s a robbery.’

“It was a close fight. It could have gone either way. But it was incredible to watch. The sixth round and the twelfth round. There were 2,593 punches thrown in the fight. It’s incredible.”

WBA has announced it will suspend Sucre

“I asked the Officials Committee to evaluate the fight although I think it is not necessary,” WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza said.

“It was a great fight, very close. We have to respect ‘Gallo’ Estrada, who made a great effort. In this case the judges favoured him, however I sent a temporary suspension while Sucre is heard, because big shows and fights like this one do not deserve the kind of score he gave.

“His decision was misguided yesterday.”

“You can watch it again and again,” Hearn said of the rematch.

“Chocolatito looked like he might be tiring in the fight and then he came back. Then the 12th round was unbelievable. They deserve a huge amount of credit.”

Hearn flagged the possibility that Estrada would abandon his green belt in favour of a trilogy fight against Gonzalez.

“Fights happen that people want to see. There wasn’t one person that watched that fight that doesn’t want to see number three,” he said.

“We do have a situation where Rungvisai is the mandatory. So if Juan wants to keep his WBC title, he has to fight him. But the rematch [between Estrada and Chocolatito] is bigger than the belts.

“So it all comes down to the deal and the money. But for me – and I represent Rungvisai – it’s difficult, but I want to see the third. I felt like the 12th round for Chocolatito won him the fight.”

Chocolatito: I Won Both Of Our Fights; If Estrada Wants A Third Bout, We'll Do It

Roman Gonzalez believes he has already beaten Juan Francisco Estrada twice.

Boxing’s former pound-for-pound king still would welcome a third fight against his Mexican rival. Gonzalez, more commonly known by his nickname, “Chocolatito,” might have to wait to encounter Estrada a third time because Estrada is supposed to make a mandatory defense of his WBC super flyweight title next against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.

That’s fine by the 33-year-old Gonzalez (50-3, 41 KOs), who defeated Estrada (42-3, 28 KOs) by unanimous decision in their 12-round, 108-pound championship match in November 2012 in Los Angeles.

“I won both of them,” Gonzalez told DAZN’s Chris Mannix following his 12-round, split-decision defeat to Estrada on Saturday night. “Whatever [Estrada] wants, we’ll do it. I’m very happy with my performance and the crowd enjoyed the fight.”

The COVID-restricted crowd at American Airlines Center in Dallas seemed to thoroughly enjoy their back-and-forth fight.

Estrada and Gonzalez combined to throw more punches than any two combatants in the history of 115-pound bouts tracked by CompuBox. The sport’s unofficial punch-counter credited Nicaragua’s Gonzalez for landing 74 more punches overall than Mexico’s Estrada (391-of-1,317 to 314-of-1,212).

Two of the judges still scored their action-packed clash for the 30-year-old Estrada.

Carlos Sucre stunningly scored nine rounds for Estrada (117-111), who won seven rounds according to David Sutherland (115-113). Jesse Reyes scored seven rounds for Gonzalez, 115-113.

“It was a better fight than the first one,” Gonzalez said. “I felt strong, and I felt I won. In the last round, I gave it all. It was a great round. The result is what God wanted. And I’m happy because I’m going back home to see my family.”

His victory over Gonzalez enabled Estrada to avenge all three of his professional defeats. Gonzalez, then undefeated, beat Estrada on all three scorecards in their fight for Gonzalez’s WBA light flyweight title eight years ago at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena (118-110, 116-112, 116-112).

“Honestly, I thought it was going to be a draw because it was such a close fight,” Estrada said regarding their rematch in his post-fight press conference. “I don’t know what the judges thought about the fight, but we were able to win. We knew it was going to be a war and, like I said, Roman Gonzalez deserves a rematch.”

Eddie Hearn, Estrada’s co-promoter, expressed interest during the post-fight press conference in putting together a rubber match between Estrada and Gonzalez. Hearn also acknowledged that Estrada’s mandated defense against Thailand’s Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43 KOs) might need to occur before a third Estrada-Gonzalez bout.

Four division world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez is very frustrated with the scorecards from last Saturday's fight against Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada.

The boxers collided for the second time in their respective careers.

They initially met eight years ago at junior flyweight, with Gonzalez winning a twelve round unanimous decision.

This time around, Estrada came away with a twelve round split decision in Texas.

The contest was very exciting from start to finish, with most observers scoring the fight in favor of Gonzalez.

But there was controversy over the scoring - with one judge having it 115-113 for Gonzalez, and another having a tally of 115-113 for Estrada. The third score of 117-111, for Estrada, created a lot of anger. The judge in question, Carlos Sucre, was suspended by the WBA the following day.

Gonzalez is very disappointed with the outcome.

"I feel sad because not only did they rob me of the fight, but they robbed Nicaragua as well," said Chocolatito,.

“I prepared myself conscientiously for this fight. It was a sacrifice of months, where I was not close to my family and where I deprived myself of many things. I didn't do all of that for [the fight] to end like this. I think that a lot of judges in boxing have lost their honesty."

Gonzalez acknowledged that he was approached with the scenario of a trilogy fight with Estrada, but he still has to sit down with his team to discuss that possibility.

“I always consult God about my next steps. I know that Estrada and I had a great battle and the audience was delighted. But let's wait for it to happen. Currently I feel confused by how the judges scored against me," Chocolatito added.

The record of Gonzalez dropped to 50 wins with 3 losses and 41 knockouts, while Estrada's record went up to 42 wins with 3 setbacks and 28 stoppages.

Chocolatito On Suspension of Judge Carlos Sucre: Important Step Toward Justice Being Served

The two common takeaways from the March 13 rematch between Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez were that the fight was one of the best in years and that judge Carlos Sucre has no business working on that level.

Gonzalez came up just short in his WBC/WBA junior bantamweight title unification clash with Estrada (also the reigning lineal champion), dropping a 12-round split decision in their memorable war at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The one negative to come from the night was the horrendous scorecard turned in by judge Sucre, who had the bout 117-111 in favor of Estrada.

Gonzalez claimed a 115-113 win on the card of judge Jesse Reyes, while David Sutherland had the same score in favor of Estrada.

Most observers felt that Gonzalez deserved the nod, to the point of struggling to come to grips with Sutherland’s final score. Nobody was in agreement with judge Sucre’s view of the night, not even the WBA who issued an immediate suspension preventing the Florida-based official from working any more of its sanctioned fights pending further investigation.

“I applaud the decision to suspend the judge,” Gonzalez noted during a recent conference call. “It is an important step toward justice being served.”

Gonzalez spoke with reporters about that bout as well as his role in preparing twin junior featherweight prospects Eduado and Leonardo Baez prepare for separate bouts this Thursday.

Eduardo Baez (18-1-2, 6 KOs) appears on NBC Sports Network’s Ring City USA series for the second time, once again facing an unbeaten prospect as he squares off with Cidra, Puerto Rico’s Abimael Ortiz (8-0-1, 4 KOs) at Plaza del Quinto Centenario in San Juan. His identical twin, Leonardo Baez (18-3, 9 KOs) enters a dangerous showdown with Ponce’s unbeaten knockout artist Carlos Caraballo (13-0, 13 KOs). Both bouts are scheduled for eight rounds.

Gonzalez was able to spend time in camp with the Baez brothers, their having helped him prepare for Estrada while he in turn did his part to get them ready for this week’s pair of televised bouts.
