Worst excuses for losing?
What are poorest excuses you’ve heard for a fighter losing? David Haye and his broken toe was pretty lame, others?

juan manuel lopez and the gambling ref too lol
Re: Worst excuses for losing?
I think the toe is a legit injury. Putting weight on that hurts like crazy.
Re: Worst excuses for losing?
Wilder has recently become an undisputed winner of this stuff and probably he'll remain in that status much longer, than he was an abc-strap holder.

Enzo Calzaghe on Maccarinelli vs Haye - "He only lost because he got knocked out. If the fight had gone 12 rounds Enzo would have won"
Juan Manuel Lopez after being rightly stopped vs Salido - "The referee gambled on the fight and stopped it for no reason. He has a gambling problem".
Lopez subsequently apologized to the referee.

Haye walking around the ring with his toe out was cringe. Not sure what he was hoping to achieve there. Him and Booth came across as a right pair of losers.
I recall Ted Bami get cleaned out by Bradley Pryce and then insisting that Pryce should have been thrown out for knocking him out with an elbow. He was definitely still concussed.

AJ v Ruiz
He waited until he won the rematch to say that something wasn't right in the 1st fight, but we wont know what that was until the book.

Yeh, I wouldn't call it a bad excuse.
Bruno said he should hve pulled out. Breaking your toe, it breaking your balance, throwing a punch, movement.

It didn't seem to bother him in the fight, he was moving around pretty quick. Plenty of fighters have boxed with broken jaws, ribs, hands, noses etc and I'm 100% sure if Haye won he would never have mentioned the toe, let alone taken his boot off to show off his swollen pinky. Plus he would've ripped the p!ss out of Klitschko if he used the same excuse. Most if not all fighters carry some sort of injury into a fight.emallini wrote: ↑24 Mar 2021, 09:40Yeah very embarrassing after all the T shirts and trash talk.
Re: Worst excuses for losing?
The right foot is the one that needs to be planted to throw his main weapon, the big right hand. I broke my toe a few times and putting weight on that foot is a complete nightmare. I still think he would of lost, but I think it could of bothered him.Controversial wrote: ↑24 Mar 2021, 10:31It didn't seem to bother him in the fight, he was moving around pretty quick. I remember, he couldn't 'explode' off his right foot lol. At the end of the day anyone boxing with a broken bone would be affected, AJ boxed with a broken bone in his back by all accounts, these things happen but adrenaline normally kicks in and masks the pain. He would've been better to just keep it quiet, he never mentions it now so I think he learnt his lesson.emallini wrote: ↑24 Mar 2021, 11:03The right foot is the one that needs to be planted to throw his main weapon, the big right hand. Re: Worst excuses for losing?
I agree with all that, he should of kept it quiet and took the loss. But I still think it could of bothered him, knowing what that injury feels like I think it would of been an issue when planting his back leg. Considering all the talk before though, it was embarrassing getting the toe out like that. No denying that.Controversial wrote: ↑24 Mar 2021, 11:08I remember, he couldn't 'explode' off his right foot lol. Plus considering how he boxed on against Bellew with far worse injuries and didn't make excuses afterwards goes to show 'toe gate' wasn't his wisest move.emallini wrote: ↑24 Mar 2021, 11:12I agree with all that, he should of kept it quiet and took the loss. Re: Worst excuses for losing?
I remember Derek Williams claiming he was drugged when he lost his European heavyweight title to a balding, squat French gypsy by the name of Jean-Maurice Chanet in France back in the day. The EBU ordered a rematch and Williams went over to France three months later. He lost again.

Eubank fought Watson the first time with a broken sternum and never said a dicky bird. He even insisted on finishing the full spar with Welsh banger Simon Collins before Ronnie took him to hospital, walking at a snails pace refusing assistance.
