Sam Maxwell will now face former Midlands Area champion Ben Fields on Friday’s Queensberry Promotions event at the Copper Box Arena.

The event will be broadcast live on BT Sport, with Maxwell (14-0, 11 KOs) still getting the chance to compete after his planned fight with Akeem Ennis Brown was unable to take place.

Brown (14-0, 1 KO) was due to defend his British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles against Maxwell, but has been forced to pull out of the fight due to injury.

Maxwell now turns his attention to Fields, who holds wins over the likes of Alex Fearon, Nathan Bennett, Andrew Fleming, Sean Daly and Kane Gardner during his career.

It sees Maxwell make his return following his victory over Joe Hughes last August, where he successfully retained his WBO European super-lightweight title.

Elsewhere on Friday’s event, undefeated Sam Gilley challenge Danny Ball for the WBC International Silver welterweight title, while rising star Dennis McCann is back in action, as he takes on Luis Moreno.

10-9-2 looks pretty bleh but of Fields 21 fights this will be the 14th unbeaten guy he's faced, in 2019 he went on a stretch fighting 5 straight unbeatens and getting 4 wins and a draw. he's never been stopped and usually still wins rounds in his losses. his notable drawback is no power at all

so its actually not a bad replacement at this notice despite the shoddy looking w/l numbers
