De La Hoya Returns - July 3rd

Post by maverick23 »

He came on to a Triller press conference that was hosted by Snoop Dogg to announce he’s returning with his first fight back being July 3rd.

Interesting that he’s seemingly doing it with Triller rather than DAZN. It’s a good way to piss DAZN off.

What weight will the fight be at?
If it is at 147 Terence Crawford makes sense, at 160 Jermall Charlo or GGG would be good. Can De La Hoya still beat them? He has to be close to 50 so it is not a given he could beat those type fighters still.

GBP has a promotional contract with DAZN, but Oscar De La Hoya, the man himself, is a free agent.

Teofimo Lopez’s own promoter, Top Rank, submitted a $2.315m offer to promote the Kambosos bout.

Top Rank and Matchroom submitted offers to stage the fight via the purse bid process, but were outbid by Triller’s $6.018m offer.

Therefore, Triller are offering much more money than all the promoters that work with DAZN and ESPN.

Sergio Mora would be a good comeback opponent imo.

What's harsh about it? He's announced he's making a comeback at least 8 goddamn times.

No he just usually mentions he's coming back and then the talk dies down.

Is there an active name he could fight? Could fight Anthony Mundine and sell out a stadium in aus.... and probably win.

I mean he didn't announce a date, but he's said he's coming back multiple times.

I hope it is real. Otherwise he's just gonna keep saying it every few months

He needs to have the idea beaten out of him apparently.

I hope it's real too. What an amazing exciting time for boxing. Amazing exhibits like Tyson Jones and Tyson Holyfield, Youtube fights like Jake Paul, such an amazing exciting time to be a boxing fan. Glad fights like Spence Crawford are not overshadowing these amazing exciting events.

Great, grand, wonderful.

I wouldn't doubt Jake Paul might fight Oscar. He'd probably be the biggest fight Oscar could have actually in a comeback.

Holy fornicate I never thought of this but it kinda is the fight. And honestly who knows who wins. Sounds disgusting to say, but Paul is young, fit, been training hard a couple of years. Osca was amazing, but is small and been binging coke for a decade... it’s honestly a 50-50 in my mind. Would do mental numbers surely.

Yeah - I fully get the financial dynamic but if I was involved with DAZN I wouldn’t be too happy that one of the main promoters is promoting another fight outlet. Does he really
have the time to train, promote his own fight and properly promote his own fighters?
