Bet he wishes he'd head butted him right in the face now.
So everyone who insults someone on a pitch deserves to get headbutted?
Looks as if most people have got Matarazzi down as guilty, seems to be the easy way out, not the fact that Zidane does have a past history at lashing out.
everyone who tells this kind of insult diserves much worse than a headbutt...

Yes, I think he should have been beheaded...

Fifa have launched an inquiry into the incident, they will i'm sure have lots of top companies encouraging FIFA to come up with the right result to protect Zidane's image. this is just my opinion.
materrazzi is a world cup winner, world class defender, scorer of two excellent goals in the finals, and therefore hardly run of the mill. that term belongs to the england defenders. who gives a shit what matterazzi said, its all been done before and there is no excuse for reaction. facts are the italy defence was rock solid, only conceding an own goal and a dubious penalty. they are champions of the world, and materrazzi was a large part of it. all the rest is just sour grapes.

by the way,im sure if it came to it,materrazzi would kick zidanes arse in the real fight.materrazzi is the hardest defender in italy, and when he played in england i dont recall anyone sorting him out.

I wasn't slagging him off, just stating that he isn't what i would class as the top in his postition world wide, he had a ok world cup, don't forget he did get sent off earlier in the competition, and if it wasn't for the injury to nesta then he wouldn't have been in the starting line up.

Hard man, yes, i'd put him in that bracket.

My money would be on Zidane, the way he went in there with the nut I think indicates that he's well up for a scrap, he also grew up in a pretty tasty housing estate where I'm sure he was in his fair share of scrapes. Plus Matarazzi is a ponce.

Rough doesn't some up where Zidane came from, and if you watch the clip when Zidane headbutts Matarazzi he has a clenched fist, think he thought about landing one on Matarazzi as well.

Matarazzi is a hard player, i still wouldn't call him a ponce. He's been in enough scraps himself to be able to prove he can handle himself.

Someone get on the phone to allegedly, they're about the same weight division, both well known, could be the makings of a cracking international bout. Would beat Ricky Gervais v Anthea Turners husband.

very funny post earlier to instigate this bout. i'd guess zizooo is a muslim and i'd take him to beat the italian by late stoppage. i think he got the idea from ricky hatton who used similar head on chest tactics to win the world title from kostya tszyu.

Zidane is a non-practising Muslim. Which I guess means he is one but isn't very good at it because he doesn't practise

Just got this latest translation of what was apparently said between the pair:

From Soccernet;

Since Sunday evening the whole World has been debating what Italian defender Marco Materazzi said to Zinedine Zidane to make the retiring Frenchman react in the way he did. The French captain, in his last ever professional game, thrust his head into Materazzi's chest in Sunday's World Cup Final resulting in a red card and shame for Zidane. Today, with the help of Italian lip-reader Arturo Belladini, we can reveal what drove Zidane to self destruct;

Materazzi was seen to hold Zidane's shirt on the edge of the penalty box in extra-time at which point Zidane said

"if you want my shirt so bad you can have it"

Materazzi responded

"I dont want your shirt you m***** f*****. you're a f****** old man"

As they jog away Zidane is seen to laugh at this and it is unclear how he responded due to him having his back to the TV camera

Materazzi then hit a volley of abuse

"you should've quit 2 years ago, you're a f****** has-been"

"m***** f*****! your mum is a f****** muslim terrorist and you are to, f*** you old man f*** you"

"old man, this arena is not for you anymore m***** f*****"

Zidane carries on jogging away

"you are only good enough for West Ham now" It's at this very point Zidane turned and head-butted him.

i hope that you are saying this ironically.

Im glad italy won the world cup, they were better team than France, they played more attractive football and they were involved in the best competetive game of the tournament against Germany.

Fact is you cant headbutt someone on the football pitch and expect to stay on, I agree that verbal taunts and racism is deplorable but so is nutting someone.

This world cup has just highlighted what a bunch of shit football is to be honest.

It is no longer a mans game, it rewards snide cheating, from diving to verbals from headbutts to stamps in the groin to trying to get a fellow clubmate sent off.

It merely highlights the fact that most footballers are overpaid, overated, peices of shit with attitude problems.

I wish they would wipe the game off the face of the earth to be honest.

apart from the 1st 30 minutes of the game, France has dominated Italy and has played better all way long...

Italy looked better early on in the tournament, and I was backing them to win it, but France dominated most of that match, and even with 10 men were the ones coming forward.

Was that bit about West Ham a joke, I'm guessing it was.

In Rugby a headbutt is merely a tactical manoeuvere though..... :TU:

Do they send people off for the whole game in Rugby, or just sin bin them?

Rugby is rougher than football, it's just that it is part of the game.

Football at it's best is a wonderful game, but that was a shite final, and the semi finals were boring too.

Blah, blah, blah - with the risk that I get accused of bigotry (actually a given) you are sounding like typical French bad loser....

The French have never been able to lose with grace, they are always moaning and complaining.

Maybe I was wrong in earlier posts.... maybe the French team (despite its immigrant nature) HAVE assimilated well into French culture; as all they've done is bitch, moan and display melodramatic public emotional outbursts....

In fairness to Raff I too thought France were on top for most of the game, the first half hour aside.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been found head butted to death on the floor of a French apartment.................

Apparently it was Murder on Zidane's floor!

i correctly assumed he was a muslim because of the fact that he was supposedly inflamed by accusation of being called "muslim terrorist" and Goz later confirmed in his subsequent post that he is in fact a muslim...

there are non-muslim berbers just as there are non-muslim arabs, but i have a hard time imagining the politically correct media making an issue of it if he was called something like "christian crusader" and using that as a defense for the headbutt...
