Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
I want Whyte to get the KO tonight but I know a lot of boxing enthusiasts are routing for Povetkin.

Both cheating pudenda but Whyte is incredibly unlikable, id love to see Povetkin send him to abyss
Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
I like both, but id like to see Whyte regain good form
Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
It's interesting to follow both of them, but I've always been a Povetkin fan. Nowadays I'd pick only Fury over Povetkin. But today I'm rooting for Povetkin even more than in the previous Whyte bout.
After their first fight I would have felt OK, if Povetkin would have lost, cause Whyte was younger and he seemed a part of the future of the division. This obviously hasn't changed, but all those circumstances with Povetkin suffering from covid and Whyte talking absurd stuff after his loss - all those things made me to root for Povetkin even more.
Let's go, Sasha! Whyte is to be demolished!

Sasha is a ginger baws and as such will always have my support. Growing up.a ginga in Russia is no easy task, especially from the area where he grew up.
He comes.across well, gentleman like.
I hope he smashes the rude boy into a self soiled mess

I've never been a Joshua fan. I'm not a hater either, but after my background with him I'll always remain neutral towards him. I first got to know about him at the Olympics and I had him losing in the final. A hometown aided win - that's was the first impression about him. He has also been tracked too good in the pros and has been given a lot of dividends in advance there. Not hating him at all, but firmly neutral. Of course, I rooted against him in the Povetkin bout (even then there were too wide scores).

He knocked him out, not sure the cards were that important.DrDuke wrote: ↑27 Mar 2021, 09:26I've never been a Joshua fan. I don’t like this “ he won by Ko so the scores don’t matter”
Shit judging influences how a fighter fights so is always bad regardless of the result
The best example being when people used to go over to Germany to fight Dariusz M.
They knew they weren’t going to get a decision (because of terrible judges ) so always tried to KO Dariusz because they knew there was no point trying to box and win on points.
Consequently Dariusz could just relax , ride out the storm and wait for said import to shoot his load.

My sentiments exactly. Whyte is full of so much sh1t I can’t see why anyone would be rooting for him. A replica of the first bout would be outstanding.handsofstone wrote: ↑27 Mar 2021, 08:34 Both cheating pudenda but Whyte is incredibly unlikable, id love to see Povetkin send him to abyss
Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
I don’t like either. Both drug cheats.
I want Povetkin to win.
I’m sick of the lies about Whyte. Claiming he’s hard done to when in fact he’s incredibly lucky to be fighting on PPV against B level opposition whilst turning down final eliminators.
I think Whyte will win as I think Povetkin has pretty much no punch resistance left. Hunter buzzed him numerous times & Whyte had him over twice from shots that I don’t think would’ve dropped him in his prime.
However I’d also say I’m not sure Whyte has much left. Kickboxing is a brutal sport & then he had a lot of time as a sparring partner whilst serving his doping ban & then has had brutal fights with AJ, Parker, Chisora twice, Povetkin, Helenius hurt him, Rivas dropped him. There’s only so much he can take. Not many fighters can be like Chisora & Povetkin & keep going for so many years. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the way out.

Don’t particularly like either of them, but especially don’t like Whyte’s bad boy persona and the fact he’s now somehow miraculously considered a PPV headliner, so I guess I’ll be rooting for Pov.

I don’t really mind, so in These scenarios I find it much more relaxing to just enjoy the fight. May the best overhand right win!
Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
Not saying your general point is valid but I think your example is crap. I don't remember and dodgy points decisions that went in Michalczewski's favour.knockout wrote: ↑27 Mar 2021, 09:55 I don’t like this “ he won by Ko so the scores don’t matter”

Don't mind who wins .Both got suspect history of Peds ( which heavyweight hasn't ?)
Don't get all the hate for Whyte , just your average wind up merchant , surely most of it is said in jest ?
When Fury does it he's hilarious and a top fella .

Am I the only one that likes Whyte's roadman schtick ?
I love it.
People like Whyte's and his dad are the reason I'm a (failed wannabe) skanksta !
Obviously both PEDders, which is terrible, but - like most boxing fans - I just put my fingers in my ears and go lah lah lah. Pretend it isn't happening - can't enjoy anyone or the sport in general if you're honest with yourself re PED.

Jimmy : sorry , I meant Germany in general at that time not specifically D-Man ... although he got very lucky against Graciano 1st time round . It Was pretty much impossible for an away fighter to win on points... similar to UK now ;)
Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
Been a long time since a box office main event where i don't really care who wins, both are limited against the big boys.

Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
As a stand-alone event I hope Povetkin wins, the guy’s a class act. I don’t like Whyte - I’ve found his bad boy act tiresome ever since AJ exposed him as an out of shape gobshite happy to throw punches when the round has ended and his opponent has his back turned and a legion of goons are poised to pull him away but not so effective when the fight’s actually on. Going life and death with some fairly moderate opponents whilst making outlandish claims about what he’d to the top 2 or 3 further alienated many people I suspect.
That said I have little interest in seeing what’s left of Pov fight Fury or AJ but I would love to see Whyte get a brutal comeuppance against those two so it would be no bad thing we’re he to win tonight and once more start calling them out.

Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
Povetkin seems a nicer bloke by simply not having much of a personality. Whyte is very unlikeable but entertaining in what he does and says, even if it's ridiculing himself. I'm rooting for Whyte as hopefully, should he win, he'd face Wilder or the winner of AJ/Fury. Hopefully giving us a decent fight at the top. If Povetkin wins then by the time he gets the title shot he will be ancient in addition to the fact that he only lost to AJ not too long ago. A win for Whyte gives a legitimate defense after the WBO mandatory.
Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
That was a close fight between two Germans, well, a German and a Pole. He never got a gift decision. Great fighter. Like I said, though, I agree with your general point.
Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
I like Dillian. I don't understand the roadman thing because I'm a white Northern Monkey but he's a character. I used to like Desmond's too btw.skanksta wrote: ↑27 Mar 2021, 12:10 Am I the only one that likes Whyte's roadman schtick ?![]()

It's genuinely shocking this a headline PPV fight...
Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
thought he deserved to lose twice in the olympics, and joyce actually won his final for me.DrDuke wrote: ↑27 Mar 2021, 09:26I've never been a Joshua fan. Re: Are you routing for Whyte or Povetkin tonight?
I quite like both. They are different types of guys, Povetkin laid back and respectful, Whyte loud and eccentric.
I know they both have question marks regarding peds, but the peds rules in general are very cunfusing and not particularly transparent. Making it difficult for me to have a strong opinion on individual cases.
I'll be rooting for Whyte as I feel he has more to offer the division going forward, but won't exactly be heartbroken is Povetkin wins.
