What a grueling fight. Metcalf was winning the 11th for me to go ahead for the first time in the fight but when Cheeseman found the big shot Metcalf had nothing left. He was done.

That was an outstanding watch, both men hurt and the fight ebbed and flowed time and time again, big finish from Ted too. Well done to Cheeseman, he's improved his game with his counter punching standing out in particular. Two tough men.

You could see Ian John Lewis was counting extra slow, trying to make sure the beaten man carried on, but even that Pea brain idiot had to wave it off there

Pretty sure he was 18 when he won the seniors.

He was a world class junior though and would have likely made in to the 2000 Olympics if he’d have stayed amateur.

Would have been a risk though staying amateur another 3 years given how few British guys qualified for the olympics and it’s clear he had more of a pro style.

Campbell looked he should. Like a fighter with very little experience as an amateur making a nervous pro debut. They need to keep him active and move him extremely slowly, similar to what they did with Benn. He may not even get that far but he seems a nice lad and I’m sure he’ll be in some entertaining fights.

I thought he beat Michael Hall early. Might be wrong.

He didn’t beat Hall in the seniors final. He won them in 97 and turned over later in the year.

Doesn’t change the fact he was a world class amateur though.

Cheeseman/Metcalf delivered big time, the fight swung back and forth, Cheeseman looked good early, looked like he was more polished with the straight shots and had the quality, rocked Metcalf bad in the 4th and nearly stopped him, Metcalf had a decent 5th though and it looked the previous round took more out of Cheeseman, Metcalf soon came into the fight, strong aggressive and outhustled Cheseman for a few rounds, ended up hurting Cheeseman, then Cheseman himself got a second wind and it became a war of attrition, I thought Metcalf hurt Cheeseman in the 11th then bang he hurt Metcalf with a couple of rights then finished him with a fine left hook, cracker of a fight

Great fight and Cheeseman surprised me with his resilience.

Metcalf can come again but needs to be kept far more active. FW doesn’t have loads of options at light-middle so he may be better off signing with Matchroom as they’ve got loads. Metcalf against Conway would be great. As would a fight against Eggington.

Cheeseman vs Fowler would be a class fight.
