It felt like Pov would've had a good chance again without Covid. His chin held surprisingly well, but his legs clearly haven't recovered. Should that change over the coming months he could call for a rematch, but he's given plenty to the sport and Whyte's a decent opponent for others now.

 indeed. Paper thin division, yet Fury v AJ is being sold as the biggest heavyweight match of all time. Two fairly good heavyweights in an absolutely dire era.

Is there much of a consensus on AJ, Fury, Joyce, Usyk and Whyte as the current top five?

Be interesting to see how Ruiz and Parker look in May.

Really when you step back and take a good look ,, It shows hao bad the heavyweight division is ,, Pov well like everyone is saying is well past it , but Whyte , really supposed to be a top 5 world class boxer ,, he can't throw a punch without throwing himself off balance the amount of times he threw his right foot up with his right hand and for that split second was off balance was nothing short of disgraceful , that his trainers hav'nt picked it up ,, , all this fight showed , was that Whyte really is'nt very good , his opponents are just worst .

Personaly i think Wilder stops him , and i thik if Ruiz gets the blub off he outboxes just about all off them ,, Ruiz biggest enemy has been himself , but he boxes rings around Whyte or Wilder if he's in shape ,, just a shame they earn that much money even though there out of shape , that they can afford to come in either out of shape , or just not even bothering to learn any skills

One note, thought there should of been a count befor that knockout, ropes surely held him up first punch of that flurry..
its not just hindsite though, even just walking in he was unsteady and ppl picked up on it , he should retire asap

I said exactly that to my lad,Whyte was obviously up for it and Pevetkin was clearly still unwell, and was breathing very hard after 2 rounds, worrying how a tough athlete like that has been ravaged by covid.

Whyte specifically mentioned he’d been working hard on not lifting his foot up when he punched !

There's almost always a provisional rating or two, where I think Usyk in particular might lose to some of those rated below him, but since he hasn't yet and those guys have either lost fights or they're yet to beat bigger names...

So Wilder and Ruiz are demoted pending worthwhile comeback wins, while Joyce and Usyk await losses, and there'll be another revision should they lose to lower-rated opponents. I wouldn't expect the same five names at the top this time next year, but those events haven't unfolded yet, and that's a lot of the excitement of boxing!

When they actually meet, that is.

It’s not hindsight - most on here we’re saying he’d get splattered.
Pov turned 41 and was twice hospitalised with COVID. He wasn’t right in the ring walk even.
It’s to his credit that he was able to stay dangerous for 4 rounds.

I think that’s harsh - on Fury in particular.
He’s improving all the time. A 6’8 19-stone switch-hitting southpaw gives anyone in history problems at the very least. Lennox is the only one I pick to handle him easily.
AJ is a fun challenger with a puncher’s chance against the best too.
I know the modern era has nowhere near the skillz of the 70s or 90s but they’re so much bigger !

Can you really pick Smokin’ Joe or The Real Deal against (soon to be in his) prime Fury ?!

To win's a hard argument, but I'd pick both to give him a few scares. Prime Holyfield for sure wasn't touching the canvas or going backwards in that fight.

He probably doesn’t deserve a ranking over those other guys given his last few years, but I think I’d still pick Luis Ortiz over anyone in the division not named Fury, Joshua or Wilder.

ruiz is about as good as parker, the aj fight flattered him, for pretty much all his fights he's been a disappointing plodder. it was a bit funny to see how people raved about him after the first fight, was easy to know they'd be disappointed with him in the rematch

he didnt really do anything special in the first aj fight either, josh basically rushed in and got caught by the flurries which ruiz had already used in many fights
