I’d question Ingle as trainer - Hutchison is much better than that but his style doesn’t look like he fought as amateur.

ya good point, the answer is absolutely none! just the typical cannon fodder meant to make him look good, but no tests at all

Typical Warren fighters, they fight a load of bums step up and then get exposed. Just like when Dubious was knocking out a load of tomato cans then gets exposed by Joyce.

It's all about matchmaking and taking the necessary steps at the right time to improve and move forward - obviously a much higher level fighter right now but the example that sticks out to me is the way Cyclone moved Josh Taylor, was absolutely spot on. It's no good smoking low level operators and then being forced to bridge too big of a gap down the line.

I remember betting on Dave Ryan to win or go the distance !

Seems insane now, but at big odds there was a good chance it was all a bit soon for Taylor.
Exactly the sort of tests that DDD and Hutch never had.

I too had big faith in Hutchinson; he looked in great shape and expected him to look sensational.

I looked through both their records yesterday again, and it's very difficult to not notice the very poor records of the guys he has faced, but to be fair Clarke's record isn't too great .. it was a step up but not by as much as some here suggesting.

It's silly to write a young prospect off after 1 loss, but the nature of that defeat is difficult to see Willy scaling the heights I was hoping for .. he wasn't caught cold by a big puncher was he

Bit of a minor upset that, Hutchinson started off well, looked relaxed, naturally heavy handed and strong, switched seamlessly and landed some strong looking jab and combinations, Clarke came into things in the 3rd and there was signs he was finding his range, the finish in the 5th came out of nowhere though, Clarke dipped the legs of Hutchinson with a huge right then a right then a last left, Hutchinson's legs were gone and you knew it was over, still i thought his eyes looked surprisingly clear by time count ended, thought the ref might actually let it go on

He fought absolutely no one and looked good beating them. Hutchinson looked weak and it was once again too big a step for an underprepared FW fighter.

Why couldn’t he go for an English/Scottish title? He was an excellent youth amateur - similar to Ricky Hatton was but Ricky was out regularly and gradually stepped up as a pro fighting for area level and intercontinental belts before going for the British.

Hutchinson’s been a pro for 3.5 years and had fought no one that fought to win. Why couldn’t he have fought for an area title? Scottish/English title? FW used to be a master of stepping fighters up levels but he’s struggling now - Yarde, Dubois and now Hutchinson have all been well beat when stepping up. Dean Powell would have been a great help for him and perhaps they’re still missing his nous and experience.

Bad night for Frank, first off his cruiserweight prospect gets flattened on his debut, then Willy boy crashes out. He made a big show of having the crestfallen DDD face up to the cameras after his loss, but this was all too much and even Frank was a no show last night.

Insisting RDJ fight southpaw cost him the fight. They were arguing in the corner at one point. Some on social media saying Davies wanted out but if you listen he’s just pleading with him to box orthodox.

I had Hatton pts (100/30) McKinson pts (7/2) and Willy Hutch stoppage (4/7) in a treble last night paying a grand. Absolute gas oven job!

Who would you match Hutchinson with to come back?
As others have said, I think he has had enough tomato cans to knock over - anymore are not going to do him any good.

He will need a good win to build his confidence, but someone who doesn't hit too hard to risk another TKO loss ... Kody Davies??

Kody is similar to Willy:
most of his wins were against guys coming to lose; a loss when he stepped up; wobbled by Zach Chelli; a non-puncher, and a good record (on paper) to take away.
